A reminder that Charlie Williams was a huge star, and a pioneer in British stand-up comedy (and you loved him as soon as he started to talk, just like Frank Carson).
When Charlie Williams tells Eddie he's the biggest conceited ill mannered loud mouth 'Onky' i've ever had the misfortune to meet. Absolutely had me in stitches laughing here.
It is a shame that this along with a lot of other very good and genuinely funny programmes is not allowed to be shown on the television any more all because of political correctness gone mad!
Can't really teach new generations of kids all of Eddie's racial slurs. by still showing this, they wouldn't understand that Eddie is an ignorant bigot from a completely different time. We couldn't have them saying stuff like that in the playground these days.
We were lucky to get phil silvers on the main channel back when it was 30 years after it was recorded because theres only so much airtime to be had even with the increased number of channels. At leaat we have youtube and dvd
Wow. There's a coup. Charlie Williams! Saw him once walking down one of Blackpool piers. Mum was a big fan but was too shy to speak to him. His behind a post like a schoolgirl lol.
I noticed on several British Comedies from the 70's there appears to be a Cut Off for Characters Smoking Cigs on screen.78-79 was the end of it. I wonder what happened.
Young actor with light brown hair is Ronald Lacey, died aged 50ish and played DylanThomas brilliantly in the TV film based on Paul Ferris's excellent book, 'Dylan'. He also played the loathsome Bishop of Bath and Wells in 'Blackadder'. Much missed; wasted in the Indiana Jones film as a Nazi and a hugely accomplished actor. R.I.P. (If it ain't him I'm a twit!)
Joan looks very nice in the start of this episode, not sick and tired of everything, as she often does. I had to look at her twice to make sure it was her.
Charlie Williams was lovely. ❤
Charlie Williams was an absolute sweetheart.
Haha is better than rubbish on tv now haha Fun laughs fun
Classic stuff, a time when we could all laugh at each other 👍🇬🇧
Agree totally 👍 🇮🇪
Indeed 👍🏴
Who have been watching Mind Your Language? Very entertaining too.
The plot of this episode is the same as 'The School Fete' of MYL.
i know a lot of plots are reused
i think life was so much simpler then ,
I agree with you 😊

Love this show, my claim to fame is standing next to Arthur (Tommy Godfrey) at a tube station in London many moons ago.
One of the best episodes I've seen. Very funny and clever script.

Quality pure quality !
I think I have seen over 30 episodes of this show over the last 4 days.
I think someone's kidnapped Mark and Terry, or they've been starved to death. Lol 😆
Oh to be 18 again, 50 years on now 68, if only I could be young again in 1974 and be in happier/different times.
Rip Charlie Williams you gent
Thanks for putting this on .
I bought the boxset. glad I got it.
Back in the 70's there was always bread and butter on the table !
Proper belly filler.
And always a pot of tea
This was a good one !
Michael Cochrane (the chauffeur) with a full head of hair...didn't recognise him at first !
So funny. Bring it back.
this is good for uk to look at
Did I just laugh at blackface!*@;? 😂😁😁😂.
Michael Cochrain was in another gem from my childhood Wings.

More laughing less pathetic virtue signalling.

No it wasnt Ronald lacy
13:26, 18:19 A microphone!
Yep, it pops into view quite a few times in these episodes, and I find it funny when it does, along with some fluffed lines....:)
“Bloody Nora!”
Is it me or does this club set change every episode i.e the stage being there and not even after this episode, Movememt of the dartboard etc
"I'm not going out there, I'll get lynched" ..... What? Kenny Lynch(ed)...LOL
Almost the identical storyline of the Mind Your Language episode "school fete". Some of the lines are identical.
Also very similar to the episode of ' Bottle Boys ' featuring Bernie Winters , same writer , Vince Powell.
For the queen it's èlizabeth Regina which is Latin for queen and rex is Latin for king.
The Queen is Elizabeth Regina, not Rex
Wonder how much fish and chips were in the 70s

NCIS i
I think Joan is actually very sexy, down to earth and a looker!!!
Bottle Boys stole this gag, pretty much to the hilt. Only they did it with Bernie Winters.
even funny acting Charly Williams RIP
How much do you think them chips were?
💜👍💜👍
😅😅
quanto muchas un buono
Pooftah actors always resort to nauseating show-tunes.
Ahh, dunnit make ya nostalgic seeing such homophobia. Times when we could all insut each freely.
Oh I remember now why I didnt like this, it was heavy handed predictable and droll to the extreme and simply not funny
