Let me know if you think this technique is helpful for when you're DJing in the comments below!
This is a great tutorial for anyone who is learning how to DJ and how to set cue points on your dj decks.
See you all next week,

Brilliant approach/ technique to mixing 👏

I've been a DJ for 9 years and I started doing this about 6 months ago. I've made more progress in the past 6 months than I have in all the last 9 years.
you t he worst dj in the world

I've been researching dj tutorial videos for two days, I've never seen a video as good as this one, you are an educator, patient, and your explanations are clear and precise. you have talent.
Only a month into DJing and I feel this is gonna be huge for me. Really appreciate this and all your videos! Keep it up mate.
Rob Scales well, it’s not that easy.
@@luckin4tor it depends who you are and what your interests are, I find it rather easy, but I definitely need some practice
I doenst feels huge... it feels EFFORTLESS

Great advice here guys, I have been DJing for well over 10 years but only stated doing this a few months ago. If you have a large library, it's going to take you awhile but trust me it's well worth it in the end. And, when it's done it's done, no more guessing if you have your timing right. Well done Phil, great advice.
It's not an easy thing to explain to people but you explain it very clearly. Great jobs Phil !
I cant express my appreciation enough for these videos. I bought a ddj-400 close to a week and a half ago and have come further in that time period than expected due to your videos. The energy, thorough explanations, and hands on approach has really helped me along. I cant wait to continue to progress, and use your videos to do so! Cheers from New York!
Just wow, I have just started with DJing and watched many vids by different CZcamsrs to learn this art, they are all great but none of them are as helpfull as your vids.
Your such a nice person, keep it up!
Thank you Phil!
Thank you so much I’ve just started about two weeks ago I haven’t stopped watching your videos
This is unbelievable. Your videos are so concise, I've only just started DJing but I feel like I'm months and months (if not longer) ahead of where I would be had I tried to learn this stuff elsewhere.
Phil, you did a great job here mate. The break down was superb. I like your teaching style and flow as well. Keep up the good work.
Thank you DJ Phil for all your tutorials! You are amazing! God bless you!
You are absolutely amazing at explaining all your DJ tips and tricks and making it seem effortlessly natural! Thank you!!!
I've looked at quite a few different channels and none have been as helpful as yours. For context I have really bad ADHD so learning can be hard for me but you break things down in a very simplified way and stick to the point. Thank you!
Phil Harris I bought your beginner program and honestly you are just the king of DJ your teaching skills are next level and I LOVE YOUR WORK thanks to you I Definetly feel I stand a chance live man thank you so much !
Hey Phil !! Awesome tutorial as always! Been using this cue-point technique in my mixes for several months now. Really great to keep energy up and surprise people by mixing songs together they did not expect.
Cheers!
Literally stuck in on lockdown and I’m watching through all your videos, so helpful and we’ll explained, thank you so much 🙌🏼
I love this. I'm a new DJ, but I have already discovered the more I can make effortless and automatic the more I have available for being creative and experimental.
I think these cue points show keeping a party rocking should never be a question past song selection. Tips like these is where the time comes to learn new tricks with samples, effects, and cued loops. At least that's my hope and my plan
this video is crazy helpful thank youso much.... this is one of the biggest things to making a perfect mix!!! you explain and help so much thank you thank you thank you!
Love your channel. This is a great technique & you explained & demonstrated it well. Thank you for sharing your efforts.
This was exactly what I needed for my first time adding cue points. Thanks for the tips!
You have no idea how much this is gonna help me Phil, thanks a ton!!
After months still going through all the vids. I’ll always give you and your vids mad credit along my journey!
Hi Phil, just want to say a BIG BIG thank you for your videos man! I'm a producer learning the skills to dj! I've been struggling to get the slightest idea on how to play my songs on cue & mixing in and out..till I found your videos!! Just nailed my first real transition 😎 thanks to your 16 & 8 bar process! You the shit!!! 🔥💜
Phil you are the red cross of dj world. Your hints are priceless. Thank you for your effort. (I bought one of your lessons btw and it has been so useful for my technique)
The red cross of dj world xDD Yes, he is!
I've done lots of this type of hot cue mixing in the moment but the colour coding is absolute genius! Nice one, thanks!
Best explanation I’ve heard so far on how to use the hot queues. Fantastic
Seriously man .. without a second thought you sir are the best dj coach I have ever seen.. keep up the good work boss
Cheers mate ❤️🙏👍
This is the most helpful DJ tutorial I have found on CZcams! You did a fantastic job at explaining! Thank you for sharing this.
I like the consistency of the cue points and how it keeps the songs phrased properly- thank you!
@11:22 for the full list of Hot Cues (labeled on screen) - This is such key DJ info, its not usually explained in "beginner DJ tutorials" - thanks mate x 1000
I'm struggling so is it 16 in to the intro (beginning) or not I'm finding it so hard to wrap my head around
Super handy tip and fantastic explanation! Thanks a lot Phil.
Nice Video after a few weeks of working with the controller and understand the software and getting familiar with the Controller this makes much more sense to me. I had no idea what I was doing before still barely do but I am starting to get an understanding of things little by little now which feels great.
These are Golden Nuggets right here! For somebody who is just getting into Djing this is a Gem! Thanks Phil! Keep 'em droppin'!
Instead of using the last cue for 8 bar outro, I've been using it for Breakdowns.
This is the best video out there on this subject. Thank you so much.
Hey Phil, I recently started DJing (started on the iPad Pro before I even had a controller, now I have a pro setup) and I just wanted to shout out a big “Thank You” for this amazing content you put out. I can see this dramatically changing my playing sessions, all about the organized & logical work. This would actually even provide that time needed for creative freedom during the mixes. Will definitely watch out for more content and also check out the free as well as paid courses.
Thank you so much!! It’s really hard to find good videos like this on youtube ❤
One of the most helpful videos I've seen. Thank you!!
Love it! Thank you sir. I just started djing about 1 week and I’m already beat matching really good.
Been looking this over and over again. Realy helpfull. Thanks!
Just tried with a few songs and found this very helpful after watching a few tutorials I found this one to work rather well. Will upload a full mix once I’ve finished hot cueing the whole playlist
❤️ it.
Using all the technology capacity.
Smart colors!!!
Great organization to the cue points! Very logical and well thought out. This makes mixing the in and out a very creative and less cerebral. Well done!
Many thanks Phil - this is such a handy tip - of course it has created me a bucket load of work - rehashing everything but I can already see the results !
Already decided it's too big a task to go back and change everything that's historical but doing it as I go forward will make a big difference soon enough
Game changer. Thank you. As others have said, this transformed my mixing.
This is probably the best DJ hack I’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing, Phil.
Love this, I have been setting my hot cues at intro / outro / drop / buildup for ages but not doing bar counts and I'm going to have fun re-organising my library for this.
excellent explanation!!! thank you! i watched many other videos and yours is the best! thank you!!
really useful video! Im just starting djing and this got rid of a lot of doubts and questions i had. Thank you so much!
Thank you sooo much for sharing your amazing videos with us 💜🙏💜
you are my absolute favorite. You explain it perfectly. thank you so much.
the best of your videos!!!!thank you phil
This is great! Coz I was doing exactly what you said - load a track, set some cue points that seem good for that track, load the next track, do the same. I think this is much more organized and feels like I’ll be more prepared if I follow this. Now I just need to watch the whole video again, haha... then go through some tracks.
Great video Phil! Really good tips. Thanks 👍
I heard something like that from DJ Lateback Luke in a CZcams video that he did, but I didn't understand it at the time. Now that you have explained it and given examples, it has become clear to me. Thanks and I will immediately apply it to all my EDM music.
It’s all finally starting to make sense thank you for the great post!
This is the best video I've seen on how to set cue points. Thanks man.
A few nice words towards you legend...
I have just started producing music, literally few weeks ago and I am now starting to make semi, almost decent content and was interested in DJing. Just finished watching 3 of your videos and after this one, I am sold, getting my first DJ gear and will actually give it a try, you make everything SOO much easier to imagine and understand, cannot express my gratitude enough man, really appreciate you doing this for us. Wishing you all the best, you are a saint!
You the man, Mr. Harris. Thank you for this.
Thanks Phil! WE LOVE YOU
Awesome Love it great class. Very useful. Thank you and looking forward to more great techniques and tips.
Your tutorials are the best 👌 thanks so much for giving us your time
Yes this is what i have just started doing so thanks a lot and i really will go live production couching too see you there mate respect 🙌
This is fantastic, thanks a whole bunch. I needed this
Just started to dj, this is the best explanation i saw in 2 weeks thanx!!
It was so awesome , you so good at teaching 🙏🏼
Wow what a legend! You managed to simplify that so even I could understand. 👏🏻
Great video mate, I love your system. I am going to try this. I love the idea of effortlessly navigating through the tracks using the hot cues. Amazing. Subscribed, and thanks so much.
That is a super valuable teching video and soooo useful to color-code your hot cues consistently in your prep work
This video has helped me out DJing more than any video I’ve ever seen on CZcams. I wish I knew this from the start and set my tracks up like this from day one.
Man, this is super useful. I'm in my first week of learning how to DJ and I feel this video will make me progress super fast. You deserve a medal from the world DJ association or something.
Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
How's it going right now?
Great video, cleared up a lot of questions i had. Thanks
I really enjoyed your generous teaching for hot cues. Awsome!
This is so helpful! Thank you so much! Appreciate all your work. Greetings from Germany!
you opend up my eyes with cue points thanx! i was struggling
great video!! well explained. got a lot of use out of this one!!
You’re a legend homie! Excellent tutorial
This explanation of hot cues was extremely helpful! Thank you!
Love this video wow I can already tell this is going to be super helpful as opposed to me setting random cue points all over the place!
Loved all your suggestions
Beginner dj, and before I even tried learning cue points I watched this. I think I about half understand the method and it's freagin brilliant. Now to go practice it. Thank you!
This video is pure gold. Thank you so much
That is so awesome. Smart and clever! So useful, thank you very much!
Really helpful tutorial on where to set your cuepoints. Thanks a lot!
Thank god we have Phil
Oh Philip, this is what ive been looking for! Its going to take me a lifetime to update my tracks but I reckon it will be worth it! Nice job!
Hey! Thanks so much for this video!
I just started going through and methodically cueing all my music. The color system is brilliant. I’m color blind but still will work. Thanx.
Thanks Phil, was really helpful.
Such a great lesson! Thank you!
This video is revolutionary for the beginner DJ.
This is a bit confusing for me. I think you should play the sections you're talking about more for auditory learners, like myself.
I was looking though videos in English an Spanish , how to set cues in a logic way, hot to mapping a song. Phil did it, it has logic , some mathematics , but in the end is so practical. He shows you a methodology which is valid and useful. That is for sharing
Thank you so much! You gave the best explanation and best technique!!!
I have been doing about 90% of this as I have been learning to DJ. Great video!
I personally have never met an Irish person, but I've imagined them, and you sir are exactly the epitome of that imagnation.
Looking forward to starting my lessons Phil! 👍
Wow just watched this now to get my head around it as it made sense, but I’ve only just set out on my DJ journey, so I came across this at the right time 👍👍
thank you for this tip, more helpful than many tutorial videos
Yeah nailed it! Thanks for the tut, awesome.
