Absolutely love your videos out of all the DJ tutorial guys I prefer the way you explain things without too much technical stuff - I’ve been teaching myself since just before lockdown - already on set up number three 😂😂😂 started on numark dj2go2 which is a banging little controller but lacks eq .... then the pioneer ddj 200 (waste of money) now ordered some older Denon cdjs and mixer and going to learn the old skool way before setting up DVS and additional midi controller - love serato as a platform - not so keen on rekordbox - I’ve already had several mixcloud mixes in the charts the best being at number 4 in the jump up dnb chart - not bad for a 46 year old old skool raving chick lol 😂
I enjoy your lessons. I'm in South Africa. I'm a lawyer but I wanna learn DJ skills because of my love for deep house music. I'll be buying my equipment soon and start putting your teachings into practice. I feel like I can do it already😂

Excellent instructions. I used to dj way before cd decs were invented and used to do the same working with vynl and just using my ear. When cd decs and Serato were introduced. I still relied on my hearing out of habit while playing in a club. I did a test on another dj in a club I used to play at. While the other dj was mixing. I covered his laptop screen with my hands so he couldn't see the bar graphs. He freaked out and did not know what to do. I told him to use his ears and trust yourself. At that point I knew he was not actually feeling the music and relying souls on visual. Just food for thought.

Ok, so I just got the ddj400 controller to help pass the time during the covid era, but cant seem to get the microphone working out unto the laptop once its hooked up to the controller. I can hear the music playing and I can record the music, but nothing seems to work with the mic output. What's the purpose of having a mic input in the back of the controller if the software doesn't recognize it?
Others recommended to change the settings on the laptop, but what's the sense if its not directly hooked to the mic.
Can anyone find a remedy to help solve this puzzle?

Hey Phil, just started watching your vids today, and I'm learning alot. One thing tho, I'm using virtual dj on my laptop 😬. Only been doing it for 4 consecutive hours and I think I'm already learning the basic steps pretty easy. Would you reccomend I get decks or nah?
