Karambit from a Motorcycle Rotor | Knife Making

- I got a few used motorcycle brake rotors and decided to make a Karambit Knife from one.
I try to keep some of the shape and characteristics of the Rotor in the knife as a sort of memory of its origin.
The blade came out at around 58-59 Rockwell C, not the hardest but very wear resistant and I found out during finish and sharpening.
The Ferric Chloride with Apple vinegar gave it a nice grey satin finish.
I still don't know if and what handle to make, thinking of Micarta or something of the sort and a Kydex Sheath.

Cheers buddy!
Right on!! Really good mate. I have just started getting into knife making as a hobby. Really like your content.
I made a bevel jig. I having an issue with the setup. I noticed in your vid, as you filed the bevel near the tip you filed into the wood. I’m doing that too. I didn’t see it on the Gough vid. Is this a normal expectation when using it? Any other tips for the jig?
Appreciate your time
Hi mate! I’m glad you are enjoying the channel 🙏
Most I can say about the jig after a year or so of use, is that I change it quite a lot! I just keep a bunch of left over wood and replace / change according to the knife I’m making.
It started out very similar to Gough’s jig but I made very different kinds and sizes of knives, so I had to change it a lot.
Good luck with your knife making journey!!
Nice work, did you use it for a kill or just stored it.
Bad ass man👍
Cheers m80🙏
Sensacional
very nice
Thanks buddy
Es increble lo que haces yo forgador de años

Kerambit/kurambit adalah senjata tradisional indonesia tepatnya didaerah sumatera minangkabau....

Very Rust like
Actually the acid etching made it quite resistant.
Quero uma assim como fasso
Hi man , good idea! Surely i will try but i have a question. Wouldn't life be simpler if you do all that hard work before harden the steel?
Hope you will get a good belt sanding machine soon!
Hi man, actually all the hard work is before hardening :) most of the work is the bevel grinds with the file.
After that it’s all sand paper and such, and that is better to do after hardening in my short experience :)
Thank you man! I’m glad you liked it!
Pensé lo mismo
Excellent and used oil would put more carbon in it.
Thank you sir! I actually did not know that :) just felt right in a way.

Thank man!
Hi man beautiful job! This material is good for knives?

What about the HRC?
Unfortunately not very high. Around 58 HRC, has to do with the need for friction at high temp needed for braking.
Just waiting fora Katana made from Katana brake disc.
Nice :) we talking original Katana or the new remake? Either way these are hard to come by over here :)
@@tauftools was said in jest, mate. Great job, though.
- О смотрите какой хороший дисковый тормоз , разрежу его и сделаю заточку 🔪.
Well it wasn’t good as a brake disc anymore. But yup, that’s the idea
you kan build a skeleton knife
Can you please send me the knife same as karmbit knife
How to order ?
It was a gift for a friend :)
Great idea, nice to see you show your fuck-ups as well, nice ¡to know i´m not the only one 🤣🤣🤣
Fuckups are half the fun 🤩 I try to show how things really go when possible. Mistakes happen all the time and start to disappear only when I’ve done something multiple times; which is usually not the case with what I show here. cheers m80, thanks for the comment
how to make
YOU BLIND?
Ýúý
Yey
Invest in dremel
Got one by now :)
That’s not a koranbit it has a ring not a hole
Bro wasted a Motorcycle rotor just to make a karambit💀💀💀
Well it’s off of a Honda Silverwing… so no real waste there
Look less sharp
Gotta look at the time you put in for what you sell it for man….. looks like 100+ hours for a knife someone would pay 100 dollars for…. That’s $1/hr of your time… either make it faster with better tools, make multiples at once, or sell it for more…. Looks like a lot of work for a knife.
This one was a gift for a friend, made a belt grinder since then, everything goes much faster.
@@tauftools there ya go!!!! Thank you my man!
😊😊
Nice
Thank you 🙏
