Lol, they never had. I watched the 1980 show in person, and if you cant hear it, there is another guitar mixed in here. So much for the "huge sound"... smoke and mirrors. Find their oldest live shows, like Pensacola, 1971. THAT was the true sound of ZZ, 3-piece.. true and raw. This is just a scam for idiots.

Once they released EL Loco, which wasn't out at the time. Tube Snake Boogie and the rest of album was not the end of hearing the Les Paul Standard.
      But Rev.Willie G. semi-retired Miss Pearly Gates.
That guitar made ZZTOP, as Billy has stated. Its the tone, all about the tone!
Gonna look up the release date fer EL Loco,be back uno memento.
It claims June26'81, so that's 14 months later.
I happened to see them the first of six times on consecutive tours starting Dec. 27, '81 to 2005.
And throughout that timespan, they only performed Mexican Blackbird once on my fifth time. And that was at Rodeo Houston, being the first time in NRG Stadium and their first ro-day-o. And Willie brought The Eliminator and drove it around the stadium dirt. That was cool as a mofo!!!
That first show in Dallas was awesome, no opening act. That something ya never forget being 19.

Thanks for your service to the Country, and I agree, we need to get back to raw jams! True story, I was born in 68' and lived outside Dallas in late 1977, but my dad had just gotten transferred so we were getting ready to move to LA, when I was at a roller rink and I heard, "I've been bad, I've been good, Dallas Texas, Hollywood". I thought they were talking about me, and that was the first time I had heard ZZ Top. Another song they played at the rink that stood out was "Jail Break" from Thin Lizzy.

Hendrix & Satriani thought/think that Billy Gibbons is one of the best rock guitarist in the world, but yet he's remained so humble and laid back.

    The top song of zz!
    lyrics
I got a girl she lives cross town
She's the one that really gets down when she boogie
She do the tube snake boogie
    Well now, boogie, little baby
    Boogie-woogie all night long
I got a gal, she lives on the block
She kinda funky with her pink and black socks, she likes to boogie
She do the tube snake boogie
    Well now, boogie-woogie baby
    Boogie-woogie all night long
I got a girl, she lives on the hill
    She won't…
