You may already have vintage looking items in your wardrobe or you may want to pick up a few things next time you go shopping. Wearing modern or second-hand clothing is such a cheap way to achieve that classic old Hollywood style that we all know and love! Enjoy the video and see you next week!

Now that I think of it. It's extremely easy to find vintage looking pieces nowadays. A long skirt with a puffy bloused cardigan and collar shirt, ponytail with a bow and Voila! Princess like vintage look 🤩
You kinda look a bit like Shirley Temple when she was a teenager/young adult. I do enjoy watching your videos. It helps me to learn more about vintage styles.
So glad the video was helpful! And I love Shirley, so that is the best compliment ever!! 😂❤️💕
@@SageLilleyman I'm glad you knew who she was. Most people don't know who she is. :) I'm glad you think so
I thought the same exact thing!
You're right! I knew she reminded me of someone! She absolutely resembles her
I agree with you she does
Yep. Overalls were a thing in the '70s too. My mom would wear them to school with just a bra underneath and be like, "What, I'm following the two finger rule!"
Hahaha your mom sounds sooo rad lol love that.
i would wait for skirt check, then roll the waist band.
Overalls were a thing in the 90’s (at least in Southern California) and are semi returning and I’m alllll over that! I’m spearheading that movement and disregarding the rule: “If you were old enough to wear it the first time it was trendy, you’re too old to wear it when it’s trendy again.” Nope, don’t care, it looks cute and they are comfy!!!! I do wear a shirt under mine though 😉 I just had major spinal surgery, but a couple of weeks ago when I could get dressed, someone said “You’re wearing overalls? That’s such a cute look with your hair done and the natural makeup, should totally be a trend.” Agreed!
Back in the 70's & 80's I would buy bib overalls at the thrift store - cut them off to be shorts and wear them with a tube top underneath.I'm small busted so that worked pretty well for me.
And that's why dress codes at work continue to be a thing. Women keep pushing and don't know when to stop.
As someone who has just started dressing vintage, it's so inspiring to see tips like this! You're so beautiful and wonderful and I love your videos so much!! Greetings from Canada!
Be on the lookout at Simons, you'd be surprised. Look for pointelle tops, pencil skirts more in the Icône section and some in Twik. 🇨🇦
@@Poppy- Thank you!! I don't have much of a chance to go out shopping as I have mobility challenges but it's helpful to know where to look!
@@sarahdewalt5433 Oh sorry to hear that. But if you're comfortable with online orders, Simons has a great customer service (exchange and refund in 30 days, 45 if you have the card) and usually fits through to size. Hope this helps. There's several Canadian shops I'm coming across recently if you need hints.
^ me too!
I pin curled my hair last night and now I got this lovely video!
I'm Pin curling my hair right now and watching this plan my outfit tomorow!
I just pin curled mine too following her tutorial and here I am 😄
I’m old (61) so, “Vintage” probably means something different to me, than it does to you. I just stumbled across your Channel and I’m so delighted! This is only the sixth video of yours I’m watching. (All in a row. 😊) I adore Vintage style clothing from the 1940’s especially! The Blueish/Teal Coat you’re wearing is not really a “Swing” Coat, although you look adorable in it. It just isn’t wide enough at the bottom.
To make a Coat look “Vintage” try shortening the sleeves about 5” or 6” above your wrist. Then don a pair of Elbow Length Gloves. Perhaps with a Bracelet. My Aunt bequeathed me her Jewelry collection when she passed away, several of the bracelets had extra links, I had no idea why... Apparently, you can add the extra links, so you can wear the bracelet over your gloves. ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This was excellent Sage, some great ideas ! I think we can all get a bit hung up on thinking that we have to have original vintage or expensive reproduction items to look the part..... You have more than proved that that is not the case ! X
Thanks so much! That is exactly the point I wanted to make! 🥰❤️💕
I have never seen anyone pull off the color "green olive" so beautifully!! What an extremely fun and light video... fantastic ideas!
Thank you so much for making our weekends!! 💓💕
Aw that means so much hearing that, thank you!! xx
I think we should all go back to vintage- so much more stylish!
Every single outfit seems so definitive! I had wanted to do this kind of thing but for a male, I think it's much harder to
create this kind of vintage look. Or maybe I just don't have the skills necessary. In any event, you're a beacon, Sage!
I would enjoy seeing the guy version. Retro/vintage is always interesting and it is exciting to see a new generation loving what came before.
Oh Sage, you unearthed some awesome looks of the fabulous 40 & 50's. Stars such as, Katherine Hepburn, Barbara Stanwyck, Gene Tierney these famous starlets graced many of film's with Style and Boldness. In your combination of clothes you bring them to life. Thank you 💖👠💐
Great video!!
I am going to begin to seriously 'vintage-a-fying' my wardrobe soon!
Thank you! Haha sounds like a good idea! 😊💞
This was so much fun and you look fabulous in everything! My faves are the flowery shorts, the vest and the vintage hoodie coat. Thanks!
Thank you so much!! xx
Such a cutie thank you for loving my past.🌺
I am new to your channel, and I just want to say I LOVE IT!! My mother was a young mom in the 1950s but I was born later in life, in 1971. I love looking at the pictures of my family, particularly my mom in the 1950s. She made herself beautiful clothes and always wore a hat and sometimes gloves. She "did it all"... Kept a lovely home, raised 4 kids, raised hundreds of chickens, and helped Dad on the farm... all after suffering a stroke at age 23!! Ah... there's a reason they're called "the greatest generation" I'd love to dress and live this way. ;)
i used to love a company called lindy bop which had some super cute vintage style dresses, skirts and trousers. i have a really cute "poodle" skirt except instead of poodles it has swans on the bottom. (they did sell in OZ) sadly they went last year. but this has given me some ideas for the 40's weekend i go to at a local open air museum (if we can do with everything going on)
i love your mustard coat with the foux fur collar. its amazing how some tweaks to modern outfits make them look vintage.
Loved this video! Would love to see you do more of these! This is what I've been doing lately - just going to thrift stores and finding vintage style clothes and it makes me so happy!! I feel like this style fits me better than the modern style.
I'm just finally getting into vintage style after dreaming about it for so long, and your videos have been a godsend. Doing my first pin curl set tonight, so will be watching the tutorial. Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to finally go for it. X
Aw that means so much! Dress however makes you happy! 😘❤️💕 Sending lots of love xoxo
I was going to make a whole wardrobe for the entire senior year just to do this one special thing for the last year in high school but unfortunately covid happened but worry not I am wearing a vintage dress and makeup look hair look I'm so excited it's going to be on my senior picture and I can't wait I'm so obsessed with the fifties music and clothing
Sage, you look adorable in every look! How I love your absolutely positive vibe. So happy to have found your channel. Lots of love from winter Italy ❤
Aw thank you so so much!! ❤️💕🥰
I’m not modest or conservative in my style of dress with that said you do a good job at making things look vintage and well put together. You look like you you must each wear what we are most comfortable in.
Sage, You look absolutely adorable in everything!
Hehe aw thanks!! 🥰
Your collection is beautiful and your coats are out of this world stunning! Thank you for this video ❤
When I was a teacher I rocked the vintage look. I found a swing coat at a thrift store and added a fur collar and cuffs. I carried box purses all the time. Your videos are so much fun.
Hahah you sounded very trendy!! Thanks so much for watching! 😊💕
@@SageLilleyman I still carry those box purses. 👜.
Those overalls are the cutest!
You make the perfect model for these clothes Sage. You are super darling looking. Love your hairstyle. I may have to copy it!
Hey Sage, That was a fun and absolutely wonderful fashion show!! Your wardrobe is fabulous! Thanks for sharing with us.
️
Oh my, you are amazing! There is nothing I don't like from Darling, your hair and the cutest dimple. I think you look like Peggy Carter. So happy you are living the way you desire. I wish I would have done the same in my younger days.
Yes your right,just like Peggy
Wow ! You look like you stepped right out of a magazine from the 30’s 40’s 50’s 60’s , this is so awesome, I could watch you model this vintage clothes all day long , you bring me such nice warm comfy nostalgia of when life in old movies seemed to be so much more simpler and better ! I loved it all ! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
This comment isn’t exactly for Sage but for anyone who comes across this person I love dressing vintage mostly during spring and summer so what I thought is making my wardrobe mostly modern during winter and only have a few winter Clothing that I can mix and match with and the accessories are important for all seasons but it helps during the winter when you feel like it’s all a drab because you just wanna stay warm but you also look cute! anyways for the spring and summer wardrobe I decided to sell a lot of my modern pieces that I don’t really wear anymore and just to keep basics that I can wear on its own or mix and match with the vintage.
I highly recommend selling Depop!❤️
Hi Sage. I really thought these were super cute outfits. The white eyelet top,so pretty,my favorite. I love the 30s,and 40s probably the best, because things changed so much between the decade. The blue coat was just gorgeous. Loved the video today, thank you so much sweetie 🥰❤🥰
Thank you for being you and sharing it with us!
Your dimples are so cute! You are so beautiful 😍❤️🥰 like out of a real vintage movie!!! 😊
This is such an useful guide! I mostly like to dress late 50s/60s/early 70s styles but this helped me a lot. Thank you for sharing this!
Love you and your videos!! Thank you for all of the great ideas!
I love this video so much!! And those flowers shorts you have are so adorable!!
Thank you so much for such a beautiful video. Will watch it again tomorrow with my little daughter (we love to do one of your vintage morning fitness routines a few times a week). 😘
Lovely! Great tips for blending the new into vintage
All are ADORable. Well done!
You make it all seem so very easy.love your videos.
This was so fun!! I enjoyed this! Thank you ☺️
You did fantastic job showing how to wear great styles! You landed some great coats!
So cute. I love all the different options. The one blouse with ruffle sleeves is so adorable on you.
Great tips! I really want a white shirt for spring xxx
Great video! Jewellery can help you appear more vintage as well. My older relatives wore a lot of coat pins or sweater pins. They also wore collar clasps. Thank you!
Another great tip, thanks! 😊
So lovely vídeo, I love all the outfits 😍😍😍😍
I love the pinafore. I heard that word but never knew what it was. I'm 57, I should know these things! 😅
I made the gown and the wedding party’s dressing. The flower girl had a dress (white background with tiny pink roses) with a solid palest pink pinafore trimmed in white eyelet. The bride designed everything and I just cut and sewed for her special day. She wanted a WW2 era wedding, honoring her great-gramma that had a Justice of the Peace quickie wedding, Granddad shipped out 8 days later and she had the Brides grandmomma. Granddad never came home from the Pacific. She gave her great gram the church wedding she always dreamed of having.
@@SandyToes75 that is a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing.
i love all your outfits!!!! you've got a great eye
Sage, I love your channel and grew up in the 1950's and 1960's. I loved this video because you showed us some practical ways to incorporate some great style ideas from the past but yet current.
Looks amazing
I am always interested in what people collect. Your unique collection of vintage style clothing and those that inspire a vintage look is remarkable.
You are such a sweetheart lilly❤️ wish you the best and never stop smiling 😁💐
I have several sweater blouses and pencil skirts from a department store here. With the right accessories and hairdo, it looks 40s-50s. I also have cap sleeves blouses from H&M that can look vintage too. The right undergarments help make the silhouette.
Thanks for sharing, they sound perfect! xx
@@SageLilleyman I'm waiting for my first corselette/bodybriefer. I'll keep you posted on how it does for the silhouette.
I loved this! You inspire me to branch out more with dressing vintage, thank you so much! (:

You’re hair is so cute and vintage , I think that helps tie in your clothes. Love this! ❤
Thank you for this wonderful overview of vintage basics. I highly recommend hats. Hats come in different styles. The one on my photo is very flashy. But there are also small hats that can be worn on the back of the head. A small vintage(-ty) touch.
Ah. 😌 This is such a blessing, meaning you're a blessing, too. Thank you. 🤗
