  • Das Rheingold, WWV 86A, is the first of the four music dramas that constitute Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. It was performed, as a single opera, at the National Theatre Munich on 22 September 1869, and received its first performance as part of the Ring cycle at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, on 13 August 1876.

      @@fezchavez he'' saying that he is the act II. That would be my take. I didn't know that there isn't an act two, but after reading the comments what I realize (tho my intuition was dead on). The worst monster of the movie isn't the demon; David the man made machine is the greater monster.
      And YES. That would also make sense. He's entering his heaven (Valhalla), which is Act II. His second life etc etc..
      Good observation about him entering into Valhalla Act II that would be it. I would think..

      But in the end, David is just like his creator, Peter Weyland, man who he hates the most. Even though others believe it is wrong, David only goes forward jingoistic and twisted ambition and play the same music Weyland enjoyed. Also, he mistakes Ozymandias's poet as George Gordon Byron instead of Percy Bysshe Shelly, thus giving me an impression that his AI is malfunctioning. This shows David won't have good end. His name itself is spoiler:
      In bible, David was born shepherd (android) but due to his talent, he became successor of King Saul (Peter Weyland). However, David desired Bathsheba (Elizabeth Shaw) wife of Uriah (Charlie Holloway) and caused his death (in Prometheus through black liquid) and stole Bathsheba. This action angered God and David's later life became tragedy due to children he had with Bathsheba (neomorph, protomorphs, and etc.)

      Why? There's no reason to be ashamed because you heard it in the Movie. If you heard it in the concert and then came back here would be a difference? No, because you liked what you're hearing. That's the point.
      Some people go to classic concerts and don't like the music, they come back to YT and listen to some POP.

      I agree with one of the commenters here. You needn't feel ashamed. A lot of the classical music we've heard comes from somewhere. Music in general. Everything comes from somewhere. So to be led here by a movie is fine. Like the commenter said, your taste is what brought you here. Your wanting to hear it again as well as to delve into something different outside of whatever comfort zone you may be in.

      What you feel and feel about Richard Wagner is because his music is both from his heart, his soul, and a "typically German thing". He's one of the really big guys who reflect the Nordic-German spirit. This Nordic-German spirit has nothing to do with monotheism like Christianity. It's a character of its own which reappears again and again in German. Richard Wagner is inspired by the spirit of Allfather Wotan. Which always comes to the fore and comes to fruition.

    I met a traveller from an antique land,
    Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
    Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
    Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
    And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
    Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
    Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
    The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
    And on the pedestal, these words appear:
    My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
    Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
    Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
    Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
    The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

    I am definitely here because of Charlie Bronson. I didn't realize that Wagner was featured so much in the soundtrack, I have this LP collecting dust in my record collection I may just have to give it a spin now.

      Think of the Pantheon entering Valhalla. Thor, Tyr, Loke, Sif, Balder. Imagine them. It's not that hard.

    I have to accept that I had never heard this before Alien Covenant, and what a shame that is, because this is perfection, it takes you to regions where you would might never been.

    Sometimes giving up is more fruitful and liberating that success. You may say this is defeatist, you may say this is hopless, yet until your here, you will never know and i pray none of you ever will.

    I've been alone... How does one know... when the night grows long.... where to find... the place you once called home..? Who knows... the dawn's early light... Could be the most bloodthirsty fight... There once was a time in my life... I had to face... the most horrific sight... A reflection... that cut deep within... I saw myself... become something more then man... From time & time again... I slowly thawed... my cold restless heart... to only find...I was born a God
