The characterization of Mort being this Lovecraft entity single handily carried the lemur show in my personal opinion

So you know how in the 1st movie the penguins side plot is them trying to go back to Antarctica only to find out it sucks? That’s basically the main 4 characters’ overarching plot throughout the trilogy, but with the zoo. The penguins foreshadowed the conclusion of the whole movie series!!!

i for the love of god could not tell you which version of them i prefer but i do agree that theyre both best suited for their medium. the movie penguins dont work just as well the same way on their own just like the show penguins wouldn't work as well if they were alongside other storylines

My favourite moment from the Madagascar movies was the part where Marty was doing a standup comedy routine, and made a joke about Gloria that got her so mad, she sent Oscar from Shark Tale across the Dreamworks multiverse to smack the shit out of him.
Now we need a DreamWorks multiverse movie!

In other words, Mort is probably one of the tragic characters of Madagascar.

And I don’t blame him because it’s an underrated gem while Shrek 1 is an enduring classic, Shrek 2 is a perfect sequel, Shrek 3 is a cinematic disaster and Puss in Boots is an underrated spinoff which is so unlike any spinoff Nickelodeon could possibly make when they weren’t making Penguins of Madagascar in the early 2010s (where even back then, they could make great stuff like the 2011 films by Nickelodeon Movies, Rango and The Adventures of Tintin… as far as their lowest standards go anyways). Fun fact: The Penguins were originally going to be a parody of the Beatles. Around the post production of Chicken Run and Shrek, Dreamworks was developing an animated documentary parody of a penguin band that was supposed to resemble the Beatles. The concept got scrapped, but when Madagascar was being developed in its early stage, the crew decided to add the penguins.
The Madagascar Trilogy is one of the most movies ever made in the history of the universe. You cannot make something so perfect yet so imperfect at the same time.

I don't remember exactly what the video is titled but if I remember correctly a CZcamsr named The Theorizer has a series explaining how Mort is actually an omnipotent demonic force of chaos and is truly the villain of all Madagascar media. Very good series would highly recommend if you want to pass time!

I love the series because of how unpredictable it is. Zoo animals go to an island across the sea, fly a PLANE and meet their own species, than join the CIRCUS. I just love it! Also King julien, Maurice, and Mort. Need I say more?

In a sense, this trilogy is literally the Penguins saving and showing their power together against other powerful beings (like the grandma and the animal control woman).

The show was better. You know that problem where the penguins had to be given pesky emotions and arcs Diamondbolt mentioned? Well, when the episodes are only 22 minutes and everything has to go back to the status quo at the end of each episode, the penguins aren't *allowed* to actually learn anything, so they get to just keep being perfect the whole time.

The third one was my favourite. Perhaps its nostalgia talking as I was 8 in 2012 but I just remember finding it more exciting, really good movie.
I loved these movies when I was young. I watched Madagascar 3 5 times when I was in the hospital getting my appendix surgery, all of these movies are hilarious and have really good music too!

The hidden world is a good movie on its own, but for a franchise this special, good is not enough. Also Grimmel was the best villain in the trilogy because the other one wasn't that good, the Netflix show had way better villains.

I gotta give it to Dreamworks Animation, while they may not always have the masterful storytelling of Pixar or Disney, they can really deliver fun and surprisingly deep movies that don't feel mediocre, compare to a lot of illumanation movies. From The Prince of Egypt to Shrek to Kung Fu Panda to the Madagascar to Megamind, they're so different and unique that sometimes it's hard to remember that they all come from the same studio. Amazing video btw Diamondbolt, I'm glad you putting some respect to Madagascar 3. It's a lot more fun than what people give it credit for.

ive been waiting for someone to FINALLY say good stuff about madagascar ive only heard people say bad stuff about it even tho i love it sm especially the third one
I just did the exact same thing, rewatching them all before netflix removes them, and I was surprised at how much I especially still loved the 2nd and 3rd. The comedic timing and dialogue of the characters still really gets me and I love how in the 2nd all the different plots of "The Penguins need material for the plane so they steal a bunch of Tour Jeeps, which causes the stranded people to build a camp with a dam, which causes the watering hole to dry up, which leads to both King Julien having an important role with his volcano sacrifice idea, Melman and Gloria getting together after Melman thinks he's gonna die and Gloria getting nowhere romantically with Moto Moto and Alex heading to the dam in order to prove to his father he's a serious lion after the main conflict happens with his Dads rival Makunga, who is indirectly the reason he was ever seperated from his family at all." -come together so beautifully. Capitain Dubois is an incredibly entertaining antagonist in the 3rd too and even though it occasionally feels like there's just too many characters that don't do much, there's just so much charm to watching them all interact.
Although off course the single best thing about the trilogy will always hands down be the Penguins, especially the series and the movie, those four are consistently hilarious and epic.

My younger sibling & I decided to put on Madagascar 3 one night on a tipsy whim, fully expecting to just talk through it.
We loved it. We could NOT believe it. And I'm so glad to finally see somebody talking about this series, because oh my god, what a trip to find out it was actually?? good???

I really love Madagascar, because some scenes from all the movies and their cartoon spin-offs made me laugh all the time. The plane crash scene from Madagascar 2 made me laugh my brain off, it was so hilarious, it was legendary to me.
