A walk around Tissington, a Peak District Village in late winter.

Tissington is a beautiful village set in the district of the Peaks and walking round its lanes, footpaths and narrow passage ways it feels like time has stood still for Tissington. The village, who's houses mainly date back to the early 19th century has been the estate village of the FitzHerbert family since the 1460s and the magical Tissington hall, which was built in 1609, is still occupied by the family.
Peak District villages are well known for their "well dressings" during the summer months and Tissington, which has no less than five freshwater wells celebrates the earliest of the well dressings.
We explored the village in early February when the snowdrops had just come out and birds were beginning to fill the air with hopeful song. A young shire horse grazing in one of the meadows within sight of the hall was pleased to come and nuzzle and nibble my arm as I passed through her field.

This is just gorgeous! I love the way you have filmed it, beginning with the horse, so obviously friendly and pleased to see you, and ending with her again. Yes it’s got such a peaceful feel to it, and the houses are all just beautiful….It is like Hobbiton, I always think the Peak District is what The Shire would be like 😃
