For knee braces, I switched from Pod K2 braces to the EVS TP199 knee guard. The guards are far superior in my opinion because of how much better you can squeeze the bike and move with it.
I have the fox titan and I've gotten comfortable with it. Love it. I ride like Rado and it saved me on 2 high speed crashes, it was on the expensive side but definitelymy favourite piece of torso protection
If you can't afford all that gear, spend the money on good boots and helmet. The rest can be bought one piece at a time, as you can afford it. You only have one brain and you can't drive home with broken ankles. Just some advice for folks just getting started. Keep all your old gear when you upgrade so you can have back up gear for friends and others you may meet along the way. Rider safety keeps everyone in the sport.
I’m in my mid-50’s and I‘ve added Leatt elbow guards to my gear bag. If I go down in gnarly rocks at my age and hit my elbows, I’m out for weeks. Not good. I know the kids would never wear elbow guards, but I’m not a kid any more. I don’t even notice that I have them on.
I love the video but safety is #1 especially for new riders. The armor jackets knee pads or brace can save you a ton of pain and surgeries. Great video though but please people safety before comfort.
I think all guys that have been riding as long as you have go for comfort over protection. I agree because any crash at my age usually puts me out of riding for a couple days. It's not like when I was young when you can cartwheel in 5th gear get up and dust yourself off and keep going. Great video though, it's good to know that other guys that have experience focus on comfort rather than protection. 👍 Many people think the opposite, they claim that you're older and break bones and things easier, so you better pad up like you are being shipped to China in bubble wrap. I'm convinced that being comfortable equals results in less crashes.
I agree with you about neck braces and knee braces, I’ve been wearing both for the last couple years but recently been thinking about dropping both of them. Seems like with the knee braces when I get in the really tight stuff I’ve had more close calls because I can’t move around as fast if I need to dab a foot. And usually in 1st or 2nd most of the time so not sure if I really need the neck brace.
Clint G I started wearing the Mobius braces this year. I ride a lot of technical and to my surprise I don’t find them restrictive at all. I actually like them.
Honestly all you need for regular everyday trails is just boots gloves goggles and a helmet. You can go even further and even put in a jersey and pants
Locktite and Camelbak are two that I know of that are not dirt bike trail friendly and I don’t support them. They both have other goals that conflict with dirt bike trails.
@@dirtbiketv1 Just have to be careful and lived in south whole life. Those brown recluses love to hide in card board boxes, gear bags, anything they can hide in. They also hide in the tires on dirt bikes (between the knobby tires). Don't forget the black widows to, welcome moving to south but would be a 'pest' to beware of. : )
I quit wearing my seat belt when I drive, it makes me uncomfortable, also did away with the rest of my riding gear.
