  • Discover the latest energy-saving upgrades at our farm's bin site and see how these changes will not only reduce costs but also enhance efficiency. Today’s improvements are small, yet have a big impact! Additionally, I take a drive to the first planted field of corn to see how its progressing after 2 weeks of being in the soil.

    QUESTION - Have a question about farming or life on the farm? Drop it in the comments!
    Matthias, aka HiTech Farmer, is a 5th generation family farmer from Southwest Minnesota who promotes agriculture by capturing it through the lens of a camera, one video at a time. Passionate about emerging farm technologies and the benefits of 21st-century precision agriculture tools, such as farm equipment, GPS, and autonomous tractors, Matthias is determined to bring new methods into his operation. These methods can improve his farm's efficiency and sustainability into the future. Learning from his parents' (Mike and Dawn) work ethic, Matthias sees every day as an opportunity to educate and entertain about the daily triumphs and challenges his farm faces, whether technology-related or not. His mission is to share his enthusiasm and knowledge of agriculture as he embarks on what it means to be a farmer in the modern era.

    Rubber coating should also stop all the bugs from getting in through the bottom of the bin as well. Great idea. Saskatchewan, home of Gainer The Gopher. 🇨🇦

      That's nice to do when the bin is being built, but now that the floor is in it's impossible, without removing the floor.

    Hello Matthias, I'm watching from northern Arkansas. Aside from people with vegetable gardens, about all that grows here are rocks. 🪨

      Linda, don’t think rocks are a specialty crop in Arkansas. I have a good crop of them too here in MN

    • @lindanelson8400
      @lindanelson8400 Před 25 dny +1

      Well, maybe so, around here the rocks are mostly limestone and flint rock. Both are used on unpaved roads. I can't tell you how many times I've had a flat tire due to the very sharp flint rocks. The other thing about rocks in my area is they have a good possibility of a copperhead, pygmy rattlesnake, or a timber rattlesnake underneath them.

      @HiTech_Farmer  Před 23 dny +1

      That's unfortunate about the flat tires. It must be pretty dry there for the rattlesnakes to survive

      @HiTech_Farmer Rattlesnakes like it here. I left out one snake, though, the cotton mouth, also known as a water moccasin. They like areas where water is near by.
