Bringing My 40-Year-Old Farm Shop Back to Life!
My grandpa's first farm shop, built in 1983, has endured decades of wear and tear from Mother Nature. Today, I’m setting out to improve the appearance of this 40-year-old building. Despite its age, the shop still plays a crucial role, housing many tools and smaller items essential to running our farm.
Rather than replacing the tin, I opted for the more cost-effective and efficient approach of repainting the steel. After learning about paint guns and their application, I tackled the task of restoring the building to its former glory.

QUESTION - Have a question about farming or life on the farm? Drop it in the comments!
Matthias, aka HiTech Farmer, is a 5th generation family farmer from Southwest Minnesota who promotes agriculture by capturing it through the lens of a camera, one video at a time. Passionate about emerging farm technologies and the benefits of 21st-century precision agriculture tools, such as farm equipment, GPS, and autonomous tractors, Matthias is determined to bring new methods into his operation. These methods can improve his farm's efficiency and sustainability into the future. Learning from his parents' (Mike and Dawn) work ethic, Matthias sees every day as an opportunity to educate and entertain about the daily triumphs and challenges his farm faces, whether technology-related or not. His mission is to share his enthusiasm and knowledge of agriculture as he embarks on what it means to be a farmer in the modern era.

BROKEN Tooth - Fixed Tractor
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 22 hodinami
Today on the farm, it’s time to begin servicing the tractors in preparation for the upcoming corn and soybean harvest season. This includes servicing the John Deere 8285R, 9620R, and 6150R tractors on my farm. Performing this service ahead of the harvest hopefully helps prevent any breakdowns or issues we might encounter and also gives us time to order any parts we may need. The services perfor...
Why Do Farmers Build Grain Bins?
zhlédnutí 2,8KPřed dnem
You've more than likely seen grain bins driving through the countryside or a rural area, but have you ever wondered why farmers build these grain bins? In today's video, I explain the various benefits, cost savings, and efficiencies farmers receive with the investment of grain bins on their farms. Grain bins, although simple in design, serve a very important role on the farm and can help improv...
Are We Selling The Planter?

My family's farm started planting corn on April 21 and finished planting the last drowned-out spot on July 15. Our John Deere planter has handled 40% more acres this year compared to an average year on our farm due to all the replanting we have done. With all this extra work, maybe it's time for an upgrade? Watch today's video to find out what we decided to do with the planter. ►Watch More HiTe...
The Last Time My Farm Will EVER Do This!

Today at the farm, we are attempting something my dad has never done before: planting soybeans into a standing corn crop. After enduring 15 inches of rain in June, we are forced to alter our crop plans as the growing season has passed its halfway point. No matter what happens from here on out, this will be the FINAL day planting of the year. Join us to see how this year's flooding continues to ...
We've NEVER Planted Soybeans This Late!

Our farm is currently experiencing the wettest spring and summer in over 132 years! As a result, we're replanting parts of our fields that have drowned out for the THIRD TIME this season. With July in full swing, the soybeans we're planting now will likely serve more as a cover crop than a harvestable one. In today's video, discover why we chose to replant instead of leaving the soil barren and...
A GIANT 2,000 Pound Rock is in My Field!

A MASSIVE 2,000-pound rock appeared in one of our fields, and today, Dad and I embarked on a mission with the John Deere tractor to remove it from our cornfield. Initially daunted by its sheer size, we took a break to clear smaller rocks. Determined, Dad later resumed the challenge of moving the colossal rock. Stay tuned until the end to find out if we conquered this monumental task! ►Watch Mor...

How Do Farmers Afford Tractors?

Farmers own $600,000 tractors, but how do they afford these essential machines? In today’s video, I explain the various methods available for farmers to purchase the equipment they need to feed the world. The farm had 10 inches of rain in May, and the fields are not looking very good. The corn and soybean fields have several drowned-out regions where the stands are very thin. Hello Matthias, it's been a while since I last did any painting. One thing for sure, paint sure has gotten expensive! I never used any type of spray gun, just a roller brush and paint pan. I'm impressed with the airless paint gun. How do you clean it out between uses? Lastly, I confess, I have safety glasses, but I didn't wear them while you were painting. I managed to stay upwind of the over spray.😊 I don't like heights, so I was wearing a helmet, along with elbow and knee protection. I made it all the way through the video, uninjured. I'm a professional painter, and didn't know it. 😊😅😂

    • @HiTech_Farmer
      @HiTech_Farmer Před 2 dny

That’s a great question! The DEF stored in a bulk tank will freeze, but when it’s in a tractor there are heating elements to keep it warm and prevent problems. Although in the winter when the crops are out, most of our tractors stay in a cold storage building and we never fill them full of DEF because it will most certainly freeze
