Bringing My 40-Year-Old Farm Shop Back to Life!

- My grandpa's first farm shop, built in 1983, has endured decades of wear and tear from Mother Nature. Today, I’m setting out to improve the appearance of this 40-year-old building. Despite its age, the shop still plays a crucial role, housing many tools and smaller items essential to running our farm.
Rather than replacing the tin, I opted for the more cost-effective and efficient approach of repainting the steel. After learning about paint guns and their application, I tackled the task of restoring the building to its former glory.

Matthias, aka HiTech Farmer, is a 5th generation family farmer from Southwest Minnesota who promotes agriculture by capturing it through the lens of a camera, one video at a time. Passionate about emerging farm technologies and the benefits of 21st-century precision agriculture tools, such as farm equipment, GPS, and autonomous tractors, Matthias is determined to bring new methods into his operation. These methods can improve his farm's efficiency and sustainability into the future. Learning from his parents' (Mike and Dawn) work ethic, Matthias sees every day as an opportunity to educate and entertain about the daily triumphs and challenges his farm faces, whether technology-related or not. His mission is to share his enthusiasm and knowledge of agriculture as he embarks on what it means to be a farmer in the modern era.
Imagine all the other stuff you can paint now with ease. :D
Right...I literally keep thinking about painting more things before I winterize it now...
Looks great to me, big improvement.
Thanks!
nice job
You did a great job!!!!
Appreciate it!
@@HiTech_Farmer you're very welcome!!
Great job
Nice job Matthias, looks great! I have one of those sprayers and love it, use it on cement block walls and did a great job really fast. Your tooth looks great too, that smile is so much better! lol
Thanks! I enjoy learning how to use new tools like this and becoming a diy-er
I wonder if I am the only one who talks to you while I am watching the video as if I was standing near you to give you my advice and opinion?
Haha, what was your advice in this video?
@@HiTech_Farmer I just wanted to give you my opinion on how to avoid faded stripes.
Haha, you've run one before I take it?
@@HiTech_Farmer A few times. Not an expert by any means.
Nice! I enjoyed doing it, no doubt!
Absolutely brilliant work! Very ingenious to preserve old tin.
Many thanks!
A fresh coat of pant always helps protect the metal more! What about the couple of holes in the side of the building? Do those needs to be patched?
Agreed! Stay tuned in the next video for the holes...
Hello Matthias, it's been a while since I last did any painting. One thing for sure, paint sure has gotten expensive! I never used any type of spray gun, just a roller brush and paint pan. I'm impressed with the airless paint gun. How do you clean it out between uses?
Lastly, I confess, I have safety glasses, but I didn't wear them while you were painting. I managed to stay upwind of the over spray.😊 I don't like heights, so I was wearing a helmet, along with elbow and knee protection. I made it all the way through the video, uninjured. I'm a professional painter, and didn't know it. 😊😅😂
Hi Linda, yes I loved using the airless paint sprayer. I cleaned it out with a little bit of water every time to prevent it from plugging with paint. Also glad you were wearing your protective gear as I took you along my days of painting the building :)
See you got that tooth fixed lol 😂
Haha, yup. No more half front tooth
ASME code tanks are pressurized. Barrels are just barrels. Sorry, i couldn't take it. Lol good job though.
Haha, thanks
All the pro painters are losing it right now 😁
hello bro i want a job
Did you get your tooth fixed or did you make this video before you broke it?
Tooth is fixed!
Nice work. Could have done with out the click bait thumbnail though. Not super cool.
Appreciate the feedback!
