Our daughter was murdered 4 years ago on 11 June 2015 and the trial is not over yet. On hearing the news about an hour after her death God gave me the assurance that she had gone to be with Him. On seeing her lifeless body (covered) I knew her soul had found peace in Jesus. I look forward to the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when we will all meet again🙏🙏🙏

Stand firmly on the promises. I also love romans 8:14-18. Our daughter passed following a motorcycle incident in August of 2011. Yes, it is difficult and it hurts. Knowing Jehova's promises helps to give us peace.
My baby sister died ( she was 7 months pregnant) on April 29 2015.her daughter was 3.her baby son born so early survived. She was doing her pediatric fellowship , got sick and was wking too hard + had a massive heart attack. I am deeply sorry for this horrific loss and the pain you have endured. 2 Cor 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Paul said it is better to be away from his body because then he would be with the Lord. This means that when we die we are not asleep. Maybe the body but not the soul.
You are a soul when body and spirit are together. You don't have a soul. When the body and the spirit separate, the body goes to the ground and our spirit/breathe of life goes back to God until the resurrection. But you as a "soul" cease to be. And your spirit isn't an active working being.

I still can not understand this. This scripture has made it clear to me that we are asleep until the second coming. Nowhere in here does it talk about the separation of soul and body. It just talks about us sleeping/living and then ALL saints will be gathered up to meet Him in the heavens. I haven’t found a pastor yet who can put this scripture to rest. If we die and go to heaven then why would Jesus call for us with a loud shout and a trumpet? How could we meet Him in the sky if we’re already with Him? The reason I lose the question is because pastors continue to talk about saints dying and going in to glory..... or going on to be with the Lord. According to this scripture they don’t depart from their bodies and go on just yet. I hesitate to say anything that could seem disparaging toward a pastor but if you watch Pastor Charles Stanley‘s CZcams video on the promises of God, at the very end he actually covers this scripture and I was stunned to hear him completely misled his congregation when he said that being “asleep“ was referring to when saints simply lie down at night to rest and then awaken the next morning. In my opinion nothing could be further from the truth and I wonder to this day why he spoke about something so misleading when in this scripture to be asleep clearly is referring to saints who have passed on and are in the grave, not saints who are sleeping in their beds and resting for the night. Pastor Stanley even went on to say to his congregation: “How could any minister be of any comfort to a grieving family if he had to tell them in a eulogy that they had no hope and that their loved ones were now in the grave?” Well, in my opinion they are asleep and do not know it. It’s not as though they are suffering. Our hope still remains in Christ. It sounded to me as though he was twisting scripture so that it would allow him to say things that would be more pleasant or comforting for bereaved families. You can’t take scriptures and bend them to your liking so they fit what you want to hear. Of course I would rather think of my dear sweet mother being in heaven with her Savior but if His plan is to have us asleep until He returns again then I know I can rest assured that she is not suffering while we are waiting for Him to come back for us. Having said all that, I have to admit that I’m still completely lost on this scripture and it has really weighed on me for a very long time. I wish I could get clarity.
I don't believe that we're asleep in the ground but with the Lord: "and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." Even if you want to argue that we're "asleep", then at least we're with God and not left in the ground or coffin.
Think of it as the record of your character/personality/spirit/soul returning to God upon death without conciousness until resurrection into the new form
We are dead until Jesus returns. Our spirit goes to God when we die. But that does not mean we are awake. It's only because God is the "life" itself. You are apart of him forever because he has literally gave you apart of himself.
You have to take into consideration all the souls of the saints around God's throne in Revelation 6:9. They were martyred and yet their presence is in heaven and they are waiting for the culmination of all things. You also have to consider that Paul said to be dead is to be immediately in the presence of the Lord Php 1:23. Just some things to consider.

What the Lord has said and declared is literal! The dead shall rise , who died in Christ first. The reason we cannot precede them is because we will not have died. The dead is to glorify the power, love, and grace of the Holy Spirit, that you should believe and trust and love God with all your hearts. I tell you he shall call their bodies from the grave and meet with their everlasting souls and spirits in the air. Do not be afraid for he is the Lord our God blessed be his name for evermore!

There is an interesting passage that explains this concept in more specific terms in Revelations 20:4-6 "And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." Those who will rise from the dead when Jesus the Christ comes back are those who died during the reign of the antichrist. The passage specifically says "But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection." So, those who died before the tribulation (the reign of the antichrist) will not come back to life until the second resurrection. This is after the first resurrection. The first resurrection is only those who died during the tribulation. As Jesus said in His letters in Revelations chapters 2-3 those who are victorious over the tribulation will be rewarded with living with Christ for the 1,000 years. This is the reward of persevering through such a horrible tribulation.

Ecclesiastes 12:7-“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and" the spirit shall return unto God" who gave it.......If the spirits of the dead are with the Lord then are they going to accompany Jesus to receive their resurrected bodies? I had an out of body experience. I looked back and saw my old body empty. I raised my arm and had an arm, I had a new body but it looked different, kind of glowy particles but I had a body. If I had stayed in heaven would my spirit follow Jesus to receive the old body made new? I'm a bit confused about this. Maybe since we aren't God we don't have the true perception of how these events are going to take place. What matters is Jesus is coming and how he does it will be correct and perfect. How ever it's done I have faith it will be done. May Jesus come for us soon.
Jesus is risen already, God will not raise Him again, and bring those who fell asleep in Christ, but Jesus will raise them(those who fell asleep in Him).
So I have a question. My mom was cremated after her death. Please forgive I’m just wanting to clearly understand. My moms urn ⚱️ holds her ashes. Is her soul in there? All humans are created both with physical dimension and spiritual dimension, or body and spirit. Your mother's cremated ashes is what is left from her physical body. Her body is what housed her spirit (soul). At her death, her soul went to be with Jesus in Heaven awaiting the resurrection of the dead when all believers will receive their immortal bodies (I Corinthians 15). Presently, she is with all the saints who have died and in the midst of God's glory. She still has her identify and is known as your Mom. We know this to be true from the Mount of Transfiguration experience when Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus and the disciples and the Prophets were recognized. The disciples had never seen these ancient prophets, but recognized them none the less. So, like them, your Mom is recognizable and has identity. If you and your Mom are believers, you will be reunited and you will enjoy each other's presence forever with God.
I am frustrated in that there seems to be no pastor or theologian who will plainly answer the question WHO ARE THE DEAD IN CHRIST? Are we dead in Christ when we die, or do we go to heaven. Logically, one cannot be in 2 places at the same time. It is my understanding, that when we die, our souls and spirits go to heaven, while our physical bodies lay in the earth, decomposing. Then our physical bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our soul when the rapture occurs. If this is an accurate statement, based on what I am hearing…why is it so difficult for an educator to make such a simple statement like this? It can be very confusing, even for those who have served God for many years, to understand this concept, do I go to heaven when I die, or do I remain asleep in the ground…

This scripture is talking about anointed Christians who must die first in order to be raised to spirit life. All humans will not be going to heaven; God’s original hope for mankind to live forever on earth is where the majority of humans will live. (Psalm 37:11,29) When will the dead arise? At a time, yet future, after the wicked are removed from the earth during the battle of Armageddon. The Bible indicates a more extensive resurrection will occur during which the earth will be transformed into a paradise! (Revelation 20:6)

No, that's not what the Lord is saying. When he says "will not precede" what he is saying Christian brother the Lord is saying that we who are alive will not precede (come before) those who have falling asleep. Therefore since the dead died they went through death and have the honor by God to rise from the dead and be called up first then those who are alive whos body never seen decay Psalms 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. Since us who didn't die, our bodies didn't go to the realm of the dead nor did our bodies see decay he is allowing those who suffered dying to go first. Then us who never suffered dying to go second which is only fair. So the Lord is saying us that are alive will not be called up in the air first but that honor has been given to the dead in christ first. Then us 2nd. That is what the Lord is saying. The explanation you gave that dead saints are in heaven, that Paul said so, that Jesus will bring them to earth at his return is not biblical. How can the unresurrected dead be in heaven while Christ is breaking the seals??😮 Verse-patching David has not yet gone to heaven (Acts 2:34); the "souls under the alter" (Rev. 6:9). The immortality of the soul is not biblical.

When you die. Time ends. Jesus stated that He is returning on the last day in the clouds. But those that were 'asleep' will rise first, on the last day, and then we will meet them with Jesus in the air. We will not face the wrath of God. But nowhere in the Bible is it ever stated there will be a pre-tribulation rapture. Please do not add to scripture. Mr. Piper, This makes no sense what so ever. You give no context to what the Thessalonians were going through. Those fallen asleep were their murdered friends killed at the hands of the Temple Jews by the Romans persecuting Christians like Paul used to do. If this message is for 2000+ yrs in the future why would it even matter to the Thessalonians? they aren't going to be around to see any of it. Our daughter was murdered 4 years ago on 11 June 2015 and the trial is not over yet. On hearing the news about an hour after her death God gave me the assurance that she had gone to be with Him. On seeing her lifeless body (covered) I knew her soul had found peace in Jesus. I look forward to the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when we will all meet again🙏🙏🙏

Stand firmly on the promises. I also love romans 8:14-18. Our daughter passed following a motorcycle incident in August of 2011. Yes, it is difficult and it hurts. Knowing Jehova's promises helps to give us peace.
My baby sister died ( she was 7 months pregnant) on April 29 2015.her daughter was 3.her baby son born so early survived.
She was doing her pediatric fellowship , got sick and was wking too hard + had a massive heart attack.

2 Cor 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Paul said it is better to be away from his body because then he would be with the Lord. This means that when we die we are not asleep. Maybe the body but not the soul.
Correct.
You are a soul when body and spirit are together. You don't have a soul. When the body and the spirit separate, the body goes to the ground and our spirit/breathe of life goes back to God until the resurrection. But you as a "soul" cease to be. And your spirit isn't an active working being.

I still can not understand this. This scripture has made it clear to me that we are asleep until the second coming. Nowhere in here does it talk about the separation of soul and body. It just talks about us sleeping/living and then ALL saints will be gathered up to meet Him in the heavens. I haven’t found a pastor yet who can put this scripture to rest. If we die and go to heaven then why would Jesus call for us with a loud shout and a trumpet? How could we meet Him in the sky if we’re already with Him? The reason I lose the question is because pastors continue to talk about saints dying and going in to glory..... or going on to be with the Lord. According to this scripture they don’t depart from their bodies and go on just yet. I hesitate to say anything that could seem disparaging toward a pastor but if you watch Pastor Charles Stanley‘s CZcams video on the promises of God, at the very end he actually covers this scripture and I was stunned to hear him completely misled his congregation when he said that being “asleep“ was referring to when saints simply lie down at night to rest and then awaken the next morning. In my opinion nothing could be further from the truth and I wonder to this day why he spoke about something so misleading when in this scripture to be asleep clearly is referring to saints who have passed on and are in the grave, not saints who are sleeping in their beds and resting for the night. Pastor Stanley even went on to say to his congregation: “How could any minister be of any comfort to a grieving family if he had to tell them in a eulogy that they had no hope and that their loved ones were now in the grave?” Well, in my opinion they are asleep and do not know it. It’s not as though they are suffering. Our hope still remains in Christ. It sounded to me as though he was twisting scripture so that it would allow him to say things that would be more pleasant or comforting for bereaved families. You can’t take scriptures and bend them to your liking so they fit what you want to hear. Of course I would rather think of my dear sweet mother being in heaven with her Savior but if His plan is to have us asleep until He returns again then I know I can rest assured that she is not suffering while we are waiting for Him to come back for us.
Having said all that, I have to admit that I’m still completely lost on this scripture and it has really weighed on me for a very long time. I wish I could get clarity.

I don't believe that we're asleep in the ground but with the Lord: "and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." Even if you want to argue that we're "asleep", then at least we're with God and not left in the ground or coffin.
Think of it as the record of your character/personality/spirit/soul returning to God upon death without conciousness until resurrection into the new form
We are dead until Jesus returns. Our spirit goes to God when we die. But that does not mean we are awake. It's only because God is the "life" itself. You are apart of him forever because he has literally gave you apart of himself.
You have to take into consideration all the souls of the saints around God's throne in Revelation 6:9. They were martyred and yet their presence is in heaven and they are waiting for the culmination of all things. You also have to consider that Paul said to be dead is to be immediately in the presence of the Lord Php 1:23. Just some things to consider.

What the Lord has said and declared is literal! The dead shall rise , who died in Christ first. The reason we cannot precede them is because we will not have died. The dead is to glorify the power, love, and grace of the Holy Spirit, that you should believe and trust and love God with all your hearts. I tell you he shall call their bodies from the grave and meet with their everlasting souls and spirits in the air. Do not be afraid for he is the Lord our God blessed be his name for evermore!
In other words, the trumpet will usher in the second “Big Bang” that will cause all Believers to Rise with the King of Kings. Maranatha!

There is an interesting passage that explains this concept in more specific terms in Revelations 20:4-6
"And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years."
Those who will rise from the dead when Jesus the Christ comes back are those who died during the reign of the antichrist.
The passage specifically says "But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection."
So, those who died before the tribulation (the reign of the antichrist) will not come back to life until the second resurrection. This is after the first resurrection. The first resurrection is only those who died during the tribulation.
As Jesus said in His letters in Revelations chapters 2-3 those who are victorious over the tribulation will be rewarded with living with Christ for the 1,000 years.
This is the reward of persevering through such a horrible tribulation.

Ecclesiastes 12:7-“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and" the spirit shall return unto God" who gave it.......If the spirits of the dead are with the Lord then are they going to accompany Jesus to receive their resurrected bodies? I had an out of body experience. I looked back and saw my old body empty. I raised my arm and had an arm, I had a new body but it looked different, kind of glowy particles but I had a body. If I had stayed in heaven would my spirit follow Jesus to receive the old body made new? I'm a bit confused about this. Maybe since we aren't God we don't have the true perception of how these events are going to take place. What matters is Jesus is coming and how he does it will be correct and perfect. How ever it's done I have faith it will be done. May Jesus come for us soon.
How can resurrection be at second coming when 1st Thessalonians 1:10 says Jesus is going to deliver us from the wrath to come?

Jesus is risen already, God will not raise Him again, and bring those who fell asleep in Christ, but Jesus will raise them(those who fell asleep in Him).
So I have a question. My mom was cremated after her death. Please forgive I’m just wanting to clearly understand. My moms urn ⚱️ holds her ashes. Is her soul in there?

All humans are created both with physical dimension and spiritual dimension, or body and spirit. Your mother's cremated ashes is what is left from her physical body. Her body is what housed her spirit (soul). At her death, her soul went to be with Jesus in Heaven awaiting the resurrection of the dead when all believers will receive their immortal bodies (I Corinthians 15). Presently, she is with all the saints who have died and in the midst of God's glory.
She still has her identify and is known as your Mom. We know this to be true from the Mount of Transfiguration experience when Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus and the disciples and the Prophets were recognized. The disciples had never seen these ancient prophets, but recognized them none the less. So, like them, your Mom is recognizable and has identity.
If you and your Mom are believers, you will be reunited and you will enjoy each other's presence forever with God.

I am frustrated in that there seems to be no pastor or theologian who will plainly answer the question WHO ARE THE DEAD IN CHRIST? Are we dead in Christ when we die, or do we go to heaven. Logically, one cannot be in 2 places at the same time. It is my understanding, that when we die, our souls and spirits go to heaven, while our physical bodies lay in the earth, decomposing. Then our physical bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our soul when the rapture occurs. If this is an accurate statement, based on what I am hearing…why is it so difficult for an educator to make such a simple statement like this? It can be very confusing, even for those who have served God for many years, to understand this concept, do I go to heaven when I die, or do I remain asleep in the ground…

This scripture is talking about anointed Christians who must die first in order to be raised to spirit life. All humans will not be going to heaven; God’s original hope for mankind to live forever on earth is where the majority of humans will live. (Psalm 37:11,29)
When will the dead arise? At a time, yet future, after the wicked are removed from the earth during the battle of Armageddon. The Bible indicates a more extensive resurrection will occur during which the earth will be transformed into a paradise! (Revelation 20:6)

I don't think this interpretation jibes with Philippians 1 or 2 Corinthians 5.
No, that's not what the Lord is saying. When he says "will not precede" what he is saying Christian brother the Lord is saying that we who are alive will not precede (come before) those who have falling asleep. Therefore since the dead died they went through death and have the honor by God to rise from the dead and be called up first then those who are alive whos body never seen decay Psalms 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. Since us who didn't die, our bodies didn't go to the realm of the dead nor did our bodies see decay he is allowing those who suffered dying to go first. Then us who never suffered dying to go second which is only fair. So the Lord is saying us that are alive will not be called up in the air first but that honor has been given to the dead in christ first. Then us 2nd. That is what the Lord is saying. God has given me such great knowledge to break scripture down its not even funny. Thanks Lord.

But those that were 'asleep' will rise first, on the last day, and then we will meet them with Jesus in the air. We will not face the wrath of God. But nowhere in the Bible is it ever stated there will be a pre-tribulation rapture.

Those fallen asleep were their murdered friends killed at the hands of the Temple Jews by the Romans persecuting
Christians like Paul used to do. If this message is for 2000+ yrs in the future why would it even matter to the
Thessalonians? they aren't going to be around to see any of it. No. Paul was telling them to keep on doing good
even to those who would hurt them and to live quiet lives of righteousness and DON'T TAKE REVENGE FOR
THOSE FRIENDS WHO HAVE BEEN MURDERED. (1 Thess 5:9, 15) And then 2 Thess is double or triple the persecution
and so they have to be encouraged to hold back their anger and not lash out but let God bring justice.
