  • Holy VTEC BRO!! I can't believe this thing didn't blow up when I floored it! 288,000 miles and this Acura RSX Type-S still goes ham
    And, by ham, I mean that it hit VTEC and still revved out to about 8,000rpm (I think I shifted around 7600rpm). It felt very very slow, as to be expected with that many miles. Im sure it only puts down like 145-150whp as it sits. I mean, It was SLOW, but it could be something we could work with.

    I think I would buy it. I had two Type-S. They are very comfortable and fun to ride when they're in good condition. This is a project car build , and the more stuff that needs to fixed the better the content and knowledge you will learn from fixing and sourcing parts. I think this is a good step for a "project car". The brokenness and sweat and time is what makes it special for you and I think the content could be extensive for us and you. Don't feel overwhelmed by a project car. It's one of the reasons why people abandon them. I would pay at least 1k-1.2k.

    The sound could be a motor mount, however, even warmed up it still would drone. So, you may be right, heat shield, but that also would still make noise warmed up. But, $1800, no way, a grand, that's it.

    One thing for project cars I've learned is budget.. BUDGET IS KEY. Write down what you would like to do, such as turbo, new seats., ect. and write down what it may need. Such as bushing, tires, ect. And the cost of the parts and potentially the work if you are not doing it yourself. Project cars are super fun but I've learned to prioritize the essentials first and then add modifications to it. Good luck and keep up the videos!

    This dude was lying through his teeth! What I recommend is to try to find one that is owned by an older adult; something that has been garaged at least and lightly driven. That is the gold mine of all used cars. Find a seller that doesn't have 3 stories leading to one. Seems like this car was a poor scattered project car that never found a proper personality. Find one that has service records at least.

    If you get the car for $1500 or less then it's a decent deal. The bushings on all the mounts are probably shot. The engine mount bushing, control arm bushings etc. That's the vibrating your hearing that's a $500+ job. Also you should check the control arms and axles for rust cause those will be your most expensive to replace. They rust out really easy on rsx and Integra. The real thing to do with this would be get a k20az3 head for hella cheap and some afe pistons and rods. Ultimately putting it on a k24 bottom block.

    Cameron, I am your Father.....just kidding, I am the voice of reason. I'm 56 (married for 30 yrs) and have tons of life experience. Pass on this whole idea. You have a beautiful young lady by your side that truly cares for you. Trust me when I say she's a keeper as she allows you to pursue your passions. Pretty rare in today's world. I know you have a successful you tube channel but the bigger picture is you really need a house with a garage. I would be saving up for this and continue with your channel. I know you're afraid people will lose interest if you don't have good content but the content doesn't have to be about you or belong to you. Cover some of your friends vehicles and document their upgrades etc...Cover car shows, befriend someone with a garage or lift that can help you while you save up. The house and garage will allow you to work on projects, raise a family (if that is a goal) and increase your capabilities with your channel. I'm just looking at the big picture my man, something you may have to take a hit on for the time being but will pay dividends in the long run. Best of luck to you sir.

    TSX wheels, the black is definitely oil, for type a check the RPM range, and check if it's got 6 gears which ofcourse wont always be a factor because anyone could swap it.
    That is a ton of miles, now the only way this build would work, is swapping it to a k24 right away including the trans, sell this K foe cheap (like 500) somone will buy it for a civic swap and rebuild it. A k24 swap will run you about 1800 with trans and everything, maybe 2k if you decide to get kpro which I would actually recommend, the body doesnt Mater if it has 280k or 600k itll still look the same, needs paint anyways and you'll be changing the seats which stock will run you about 400+ or aftermarket if youd like of course. Definitely the move for a project if you have the money and time...if you planned on doing the same k20a2 build then forget it lol, they run about 1,300 with lower miles and the trans about 700 or so. Just about the same as the k24 swap only reference is the k24 you'll find easier with less miles, and it'll shoot up the value a little bit for resale, plus power 🤷🏽‍♂️...down side is the rev range, but if you throw a k20a2 head you'll be hitting 8,500k again instead of the 7k ish for the stock k24 head. Hope this helped...its lengthy but this is my best advice, I personally own a 2002 type s, shes got 196k and shes running strong still.

That bose system usually comes with the Type-S model but I may be wrong. I also noticed the radio needed a code which could probably be obtained from Honda or Online. You should try to get the code before purchasing. Otherwise, id buy it for $1000 and swap out those seats. Usually tan seats are easier to find especially in those older years 2002-2004.

    Tires, brakes, rims, paint, things rattling and shaking shouldn't be too much of a concern for a car that is so old with high miles if this is going to be a project car IMO. The engine is the most important thing and that is still kicking.

    $1800 for that lol!! May be $500-800. Strict no no for me. Dude Rev hang is for meeting emission norms. You will not have it in older cars. If front rotors are warped you will feel vibration in steering wheel braking at highway speeds. If the pedal is vibrating then the rear rotors are shot

    Also, spongy brakes are indicative of air in the brake lines. Would likely go away after a flush/fluid replacement, which should be done with every fluid in this car. Seems like a ton of work needs to be put into it. I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for this car.

  • @DenonDJTony

  • @siryjayjay
    @siryjayjay Před 4 lety +1

  • @Tool0GT92
    @Tool0GT92 Před 4 lety

    Whenever you buy a beater like this you are going to need to do spark plugs, air filter, pads and rotors, and flush all the fluids with OEM stuff from the dealer. It isn't going to need a new engine anytime soon and little things like motor mounts and fixing the heat shield are not a big deal. The paint job is gonna cost you a few grand so that's the biggest thing to think about.
