Nice and straight forward lesson--especially those double stops! I love that you teach Benson WITHOUT obsessing over his "bee picking." Yes, that was the way that Benson approached picking, but not everyone wants to switch over to that technique. I think too many people obsess over how Benson holds his pick and not about WHAT he plays and his TIME FEEL (the latter is essential to Benson, IMO). Thanks for showing that playing Benson's ideas is possible without "bee picking." That said, you gotta address his time feel in the lesson--because I hear you really emulating it right here ;)
Thanks for the comment! I definitely think it’s way more about what he plays, which is also connected to how he plays it. To me approaching his time feel comes from listening to him for 1000s of hours and playing along with him. Don’t know that there’s a more effective method to get to his time feel than that 🤷🏻♂️
What's "Bee Picking"?
@@TheLochs I might have mislabeled the picking technique. Just the obsession with how to hold the pick and the pick angle--all that.
I just don't know how to improve my speed. I almost feel like I have been stuck at same speed for over a decade. Great lesson, tips, and concepts. Thank you!

II V approach: does it mean we should think Bb to Ab as Fm to Bb7 to Eb major (key of Eb). F melodíc minor sounds cool.

Hi chase , thank you for a fantastic vlog , im new to jazz guitar , would a epiphone casino be any good or could you recommend any guitar i only have a $600 budget , any advice would be fantastic ty ... jules 🙏
My advice is get whatever Ibanez hollowbody or semi-hollowbody fits your budget. I've personally found the quality on the Ibanez to be better than an Epiphone, but I am biased from using my budget-level one for almost 20 years.
