I just switched to budgie, honestly i didn't think it was customizable at this point, the desktop is pretty young so it have some issues, but that's a really great desktop, anyway thanks you for the video!
Budgie does have a lot of customisation options. The start menus are also more modern looking than on Cinnamon and Mate, although I like them all. I have done another video on all of the customisations of the Budgie desktop. It is here: czcams.com/video/c_GptOfXEWs/video.html&t
@@ikytsu7822 Yes but the Brisk Menu is only for Mate. It doesn't work on any other desktops. Though Cinnamon does have some other start menus you can add. I have made a video about the Brisk Menu and have posted the link to it in the above video description.
They are all nice and do the job but the first one is my favorite. I like that you can switch between category view to icon view which is nice. It's also the default start menu on the latest version of Ubuntu Budgie.
Ubuntu uses the first start menu I showed you in the video. That's the one I use and I like that better than the default start menu. I mean the default is all right but the first start menu has the option to toggle between list view and icon view and it looks much nicer and more modern. A lot of the apps from Ubuntu Budgie are also in the Debian version. There are even Ubuntu settings for these in Dconf Editor. Ubuntu also uses a lot of Snaps in their version .Where as on Debian Snap and Flatpak is an optional install. On Ubuntu you cannot remove Snap or it breaks the whole system. That's why I use Debian and Linux Mint. Then install the desktop environment I want from there.
Yes, I learned the hard way that snap Firefox is not the same as apt Firefox. That’s an hour of extension debugging I’ll never get back… I’ll switch to Debian later this week, when I get the chance. Ubuntu is a good entry point, but I’d rather have a more community driven distro.
@@user-gw7zm3up3v You could try Linux Mint with the Ubuntu Budgie Desktop. I have tried it and it works. It's best to start with the Xfce version then once you have installed Budgie, remove the Xfce. That's what I did. the advantage of this is you get the Ubuntu Budgie Desktop but without the Snaps. Because Linux Mint blocks Snaps so you won't get them. I have also made a video on how to install Palemoon and you can also install the Deb Package of Firefox in this way. You can get the latest version from the Firefox website and you will get regular updates for it direct from Firefox.
@@user-gw7zm3up3v I think Linux Mint is the best one to start off with. It is set up for new users coming over from Windows and trying Linux for the first time. So it has lots of tools to help you do updates and install software. Experienced Linux users use Mint too. Best of all it doesn't have Snaps and it's easy to remove Flatpak and just use the Deb Packages. That's what I do.
I use Dconf Editor to turn on the system notification sounds under where it say "Gnome, Desktop, Sounds." Watch my video on ways to customise Gnome that I have linked to above. As Budgie is based on Gnome this also works in Budgie.
Older people made computers likely before you were born. Not surprising, I've seen 80 year olds use iPads more efficiently than kids who grew up with iPads.
I know Andrea personally and she is very knowledgeable about computer systems. Very good at explaining things in simple terms for computer dummies like me.
Andrea, maybe a Q&A or get to know me as a future video?
Now this lady knows what shes talking about! Very competent, bright and impressive

The purple file icon is quite nice
It's one of the many Linux Mint themes which I have installed on Debian. I also have the Zorin OS themes which look nice as well.

Can't we add brisk menu on mate and cinnamon?

I prefer the first one too!

The one Ubuntu uses by default has to be my favorite.

I’ve heard good things about mint. I haven’t done a full look at it though. I will do that when I have a chance.

I'm so surprised an old person knows Linux
