    I just installed it on two windows and it was so easy. It's better to cut it too big and trim it once it's on the window than cut it too small and have a gap. Love the results!

      Yeah I have wasted a lot of product due to trying to get the measurements exact. Leaving 1/16th around the edges made it hard for me to get it right.

    Just picked up some of this at Home Depot. We used it for our double door windows it looks great easy too install and rather sturdy. I wish I would have found this years ago. A great alternative to privacy. Scrap the curtains scrap the blinds ! This stuff I certainly don’t mind! Excellent stuff

    Just an FYI - I did this years ago on glass sliders and it was easy and looks beautiful. Yesterday, I decided to do the same to my bedroom sliders. However, we live in Florida and this slider faces west! The hot sun not only made me uncomfortable, but also dried the soapy solution quickly! Only did half of one slider and now must finish early morning while I have light but NOT hot! So, my advice is make sure no direct sunlight is heating the glass.

It only does one of my very large tall windows, but I can get a roll twice as long too. It comes in many widths and roll lengths.

I pulled it back after the first time, and redid the soap/water solution. However, after awhile it happens again. Any hints on why this is happening and a resolution so that it won't continue?

    I just bought a kit and will be putting on two kitchen doors (on glass) , to replace some old plexiglass that was in the doors. My question is, since it isn't fixed on with adhesive, is there any chance of it peeling off over time, by itself? I was expecting it to be permanent and be an adhesive sticky back, but just found out once I bought it, that you use soapy water to adhere it.

      The only thing that would make our window film peel off is a window that hasn't been cleaned properly before application. To avoid this, give the window a good cleaning and use a razor blade to scrape off any old paint or debris. This way the film can suction to a nice, smooth surface. Although we really only recommend keeping your film up for a couple years, some people have told us that they've had our window film up for close to 10 years. Feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

    What do you mean leave 1/16th around caulking? Looks like you have it snug to the edges. This does not cut easily with a blade any tips on how to smoothly cut it? It is thick.

    • @pcofranc
      @pcofranc Před 3 měsíci +1

      Well you could use a razor wheel the kind that is used to cut cloth I think a regular utility razor that is brand new would work fine. If you're still having difficulty or worried about dragging the material versus cutting it make multiple light passes with the razor being careful to cut in a straight line wow carefully keeping the blade perpendicular as in a 90° angle against the ruler. If you tilt the blade it may wander away from the ruler if you tilt the other way you'll dig into the ruler and end up with a crooked line.

    I have an attic with no windows. I was thinking of creating a faux lit window to give the illusion of light coming in from the outside. I already have the wood- framed window and thought I would apply the window film as seen here in a stained glass motif. I would then add a 2 inch thick strip of wood at the top and bottom on the window frame back. I would affix LED lights on the bottom of the top strip of wood and on the top of the bottom piece. I would then hang the window on the attic wall. I would hope when it is lit it would give the illusion of a real window with outside light coming in. Does anyone have any ideas on this? And do you think this would work?

      That is an AWESOME idea!! I know you posted this 3 years ago, but I'd love to see the finished product as I'm sure its as beautiful as it sounds! I just barely found out about this stuff and installed it on my bedroom door that has 8 separate glass pieces and took down the ugly curtain that hung there. I loved this stuff so much and I want to do more... I was thinking of a similar design as yours both big and small pieces with led light on the inside or the smaller ones maybe the fairy lighting. Just in time to try to start making for holiday gifts!

    It was a lot harder to put on than it seems. I followed the measurements as they suggested, but then there was a little extra on the sides. Tried trimming with my exacto knife (new blade for this project), but it was almost impossible to trim and I worried that I might break the seal on my window. I ended up lifting the film and trimming with a good pair of scissors and it was hard to make a straight line. However I succeeded in getting the film on and it does look very beautiful. I hope it will last a long time. I am wondering how it will do with our -40C winters. It is installed on the inside, but hopefully it can take the outside cold against the pane.

    • @In_time
      @In_time Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@rajupatnaik7776 it helped us tremendously! As the original commenter said, it’s a lot harder than it looks: We opted to just fill in our window shape with printer paper, taping it together where it overlapped so that it was just one giant piece of paper which made the template (and zero measuring!). Then we just laid that template onto the film and cut the film to the same size as the template. It made it incredibly easy and this is how we’ve continued to do it on the remaining windows we’ve covered.
      It’s not necessary but it does make it easier if you’re not good at measuring, don’t want to measure at all or if your windows are older and/or the glass is not the same size all around or if it is uniquely shaped.
      (I imagine they don’t suggest a template as they would want it to look simple and easy so that people will buy their product 😉)

      It's got a suprising amount of heat insulation, so I'd guess it would give a little tad of cold insulation too. We only put it on the bottom window for now. It's a 38 C heatwave and when the sun came out front it was only warmish on the plastic film and hot on the bare window glass above. We could even feel a marked temperature difference on the curtain in front of the film coated window and the bare glass above. Pretty impressed.

      You can absolutely reuse it. I might just use for the summer, because what they don't say is it's surprisingly heat insulating. So I might give it a good rinse and carefully roll it up for next summer. Put in some sort of tube so it doesn't yellow.We had to bugger around and redo it a few times and the old man cut it so crooked I could kill him for not giving a crap. So I will be probably putting it on the top window so the big triangle size friggen gap isn't catching my eye first thing I see as I open the curtains.
