I think a bigger point in the beginning that is being glossed over is comfort. The entry level helmets are terribly uncomfortable. I wear lots of "elite" gear not because I'm playing Pro hockey... but because it's SO much more comfortable, and I want to enjoy being on the ice. The entry level helmet I had before gave me headaches pretty much every time I played, the helmet was super stiff on the inside and my head just literally wasn't shaped right for it. Upgraded to Tacks 910 and it's literally a world of difference.
Which rec-level helmet were you using because the older helmets used to be just single VN foam or EPP foam with a tiny bit of comfort padding. These new entry-level helmets are quite comfy with the dual-density VN liners. Chase at IW Hockey
@@ice.warehouse I believe it was the Bauer 5100, bought it last year. Literally rock hard inside. After a few weeks I knew I needed to replace it. I guess next time I'm in a city that has a pro shop, I'll have to try on a bunch of helmets just to see the difference!

I really like how CCM has consistent looking shells up and down the lineup. What makes the Tacks 70 recreational level and the 210 performance? Both seem to have dual density liners and hdpe shells.
Agreed and it would be the densities of the foam and shell thickness. The 70 is super plush for immediate comfort and rec-level protection, the 210 has higher-density foams for more appropriate performance-level protection! Chase at IW Hockey
I love how Virginia Tech’s safety rating has there top of the line helmet there promoting in this video last on there safety list 💀 She goes, “you should look at our higher priced items for the most advanced protection” ooooooooooookay 🤡
Just upgraded from the Tacks 70 to the Tacks 210. Could notice the difference immediately. 100% worth the extra cost to upgrade!

I'm wearing a 710 helmet now. Fit is great, and it is night and day better ventilated than the helmet I was wearing before.

310 is the most comfortable, and best ventilated helmet I’ve ever owned. Hopefully I can get another when I need a new helmet down the road.

Missed the classic 110! Stilllove that helmet from when it was the v08. Just got myself a 210 in smaller size as the 110 had sold out everywhere
