You are mistaken. You were too young to remember that the US Clean Air Act was not added until 1970 and it took years to take effect. It was so bad then that aging adults who had to breath that air are dying early due to the heavy exposure when they were as young as you were then. Smoke stack emissions and vehicles running on lead gas literally killed people.
You’ve probably also forgotten acid rain, Love Canal and dozens of times the Cuyahoga River was on fire from pollution.
You’re too young to remember but you’re allowing yourself to talk smack about the era before the Clean Air Act was implemented by that bastard Nixon.

Since the reporters have no interest in actually reporting on this PROPERLY, here's what you should know:
Acute flaccid myelitis is the result of a bad reaction to a common viral infection.. Like an enterovirus. Most people get an enterovirus or "tummy bug" and either have no symptoms are laid out barfing their guts up. Most clear the virus and life goes on. It's not understood why, but some people even after they recover go into AFM. It involves inflammation of the spinal column. It affects mostly children. Good look avoiding an enterovirus going around. Sure, wash your hands etc, etc.. But kids in particular catch everything going around. AFM breaks out in clusters. The virus going around just has a higher propensity to induce AFM.. The damage can range from severe to mild, can resolve or cause lifelong issues. Normally these outbreaks hit from August to October.. So this is hitting in an unusual time of year for this.
Heck, just go look it up and get informed if you are worried.. But most outbreak clusters affect around a dozen or so kids.. May end with this one case, may go ballistic..
    Welcome to life.🙄

Which to me meant I could say whatever I want without threat of governmental reprisal (obviously there are limits).... There are those who believe that having the type of government that we fought the revolutionary war to escape is a good idea. Best I can tell, the reason for this desire-for-dictator is because people don't want it to be a "Free Country" if that means some people can have a different religion, or different scripture, or they choose to love differently, or they want autonomy over their body. Yeah, I want America to be great again, and to me that specifically means that those of us who are Christian are free to live our religion, and we - as Christians - love and respect our neighbors, even when their religion is different or nonexistent. An America that allows women to be in control of their bodies, where birth control is available, and abortion is legal (within limits). Where someone who dresses funny can do so, and it's not illegal. A country where "hate your neighbor" is considered extreme.

@@mikelouis9389 Seriously. I'm an American raised to work very hard, but as a teacher I saw the work ethic declining in my students as the decades passed. Laziness and entitlement grew. I kept my class positive and enjoyable, my students liked me, but nonetheless had one teen tell me he didn't want to read the story I had to teach him because, "It doesn't interest me." Another didn't want to write his report, saying, "I don't like doing this. I don't enjoy it." Got similar remarks from a few others. They clearly didn't get raised with a work ethic. If young Americans now resist doing basic schoolwork in an air conditioned schoolroom, to we really expect them to get out and slave in the fields or do unpleasant tasks day after day in poultry factories or heave stinking trashcans, or even do cleaning work? A few years ago, vegetables were rotting in the U.S. fields because immigrants were not allowed to come harvest the crops. Did Americans jump in and take those jobs? No. Americans were unwilling to do backbreaking labor all day in the hot sun with sometimes not even a portapotty, especially if it's seasonal work, which it is. Americans didn't want to live in substandard shacks with no AC for months and slave for long hours each day reaching down to harvest food. They didn't want to have to migrate every few months to where the work is as different crop work becomes available in different states. There are many such unappealing, low paying jobs that Americans simply refuse to take. (Don't even get me started on my thoughts about how workers are treated in this country, nobody should have to live in substandard housing and be underpaid, in my opinion.) Not only are these physically demanding and unpleasant jobs, they often don't even pay a living wage. So let's get real. I respect anyone willing to work hard to make a better life for their family.

The reason most people haven't heard of it is because polio was much more contagious, and there were epidemics that struck down thousands of children back in the early part of the 20th Century. When the polio vaccines became available, almost everyone (voluntarily) got vaccinated, and the epidemics stopped in their tracks.

So nothing to do with the Covid vaccine huh? I moved out of New Mexico because the healthcare is not only bad but impossible to find a decent doctor. I called to find new drs and make appts and told they were booked out a year! Basically received very little health care in NM. I ended up getting in at Mayo in Az only after 4 years of total frustration. You have no idea how happy I am to be out of that place!!! Think twice about moving there! New Mexico had the border wide open and TX was doing their best to stop people from coming in. At the time we were locked down, if you wanted to go to a concert or any public event you had to show a vaccination certificate and all the time letting in immigrants that were not vaccinated! Basically just like any other democratic state. You never heard a word about the border from the governor or on the news. They welcomed immigrants in NM giving them a multitude of help through different churches and agencies .There school system is almost dead last as far as schools are rated. It is a hot mess there!!!!!!!! I guess if you let in people from around the world and don’t care if they have had any kind of vaccinations or checked out by a Dr you are going to have the Citizens of this country sick with things we eradicated years ago.

I had a few days of paralysis when I was young after being sick. Something similar to this can happen to children or adults after fighting off a virus. But definitely best to seek medical care for this, as it sounds like it may very well be something different and potentially more serious with the way they describe it.

A vaccine was introduced in, I think it was 1955 or thereabouts. All children got an oral vaccine. It was dropped in a sugar cube. I remember well, getting it. That vaccine; the Salk vaccine; eradicated Polio in the U S. All babies and young children were required to get it. So we were fine until undocumented, illegals were allowed to come into the U.S. with no health checks or quarantine of any kind. The people of the U S. will pay the price for this.

It's been associated with RSV and EV-D68 before. I noticed past cases of AFP cases cropped up as well after a specific brand of Flu shot was given in the fall of 2014, and again in the fall of 2018 that uses recombinant technology! Now that there is a shot for RSV, could it be related to the shot, or a synergistic effect of more than one shot in some sort of bio-coupling event, like a prior flu shot having some ingredient in it that interacts chemically with some ingredient in an RSV shot?
This could also be immigrant related bringing in EV-D68. There was speculation on past cases, that they may have come in from Mexico.
