Why do we have to train the police to not give a gun to the criminal during the arrest? The video shows the officer release control of the weapon and grab the suspect. Meanwhile the suspect now has a gun dropped right into his hands. There are multiple officers on scene, you should just let one of the other 5 officers on scene conduct the arrest.

Never take down a man with your hands when you're holding a loaded rifle or long gun.

The problem is training. If you have a long gun/rifle, your job is lethal cover not going hands on. The other officers at the scene are the ones that move in to make the arrest. I know from experience 😢.
