There is a local guy who just did a Colorado with a k series turbo. Just was on they Dyno to just shy of 500hp. It appears to be a Colorado trans likely with the fab bots adapter. They have the ar5 to ls Bell housing which is a direct swap onto the Colorado ar5 then use the k to ls plate. The ar5 can actually hold decent power and are an inexpensive option. Look up Larry's garage. He has some shorts here on CZcams.

I would try swapping the bellhousing too one that you know has an adapter plate as long as input shaft will still work

Imo you can notch the trans to run the Honda starter since you will need to use the Honda flywheel and clutch with the offset and input shaft flange of the t5 trans. Or just look for a trans that already has a compatible clutch kit and plate for the k series that way in the future if you need a clutch replacement your not dishing out mad funds to remake a clutch disc for that one solo purpose.
Bill Hincher is the guy you need to talk to. He can make any engine fit to any transmission with the adapter plates and flywheel spacer and starter combo. I've called him many times for advice and technical help. He knows how to get it done.
Damn, the nut kicker is that both starter locations are partially covered, pretty much a no go, the adapter process will cost a good amount plus the custom flywheel. It will be bout the same as a full setup

The opening for the starter on the trans won't matter ur gonna want to use the k series starter so ud need a adapter flywheel thats kseries but will accept the clutch that the trans uses

@@deadbeatgarage another option is K power industries sell K to Miata trans 90-05 5speed & 6speed , K to E30,E36.E46 trans & K to 86 trans plus they half the price of FABbot’s adapter
You could mount the starter remotely also. Or like a racebike starter
Just remember that you can cut the transmission bell housing so you put the starter on the motor side

Bro try looking into a Honda S2000 6 speed transmission. They have alot of aftermarket adapter plates and clutches for k series 😎
Just get different bell housing. Borg Warner trans have tons of options out there

Stupid idea but you could rotate the bellhousing on the trans 180° that should solve the starter location misalignment. You probably are punching above your weight class with this one, but you don't know what you can't do... until you can't do it. Give it a shot. Worst case scenario the money you lose on materials will pay for itself in experience!
You need to pull the trans off the bell housing and use a k bell housing

I would probably go with just trying to get a regular T5 bell housing
Yeah I haven't even searched for one yet but it would probably be the easiest option
If the bell housings can be change out to have the starter on the left for the k serie motor

the fact that you are just trying that is super dope I think you can do it and you should go for it
You can make one out of steel plate Wich wil be cheaper and if it works the transfer that to the aluminum
gotta hit up the boosted boiz they know pretty much everything about k series they could point you in the right direction

Alright I can give you some insight with this. Start off with a 1/2 thick piece of plexiglass. Cut your template out of that. As far as starter location, I’d suggest using the k series location with the k2f s2000 flywheel. Part number FW-K2F-AL Also I believe clutchmasters makes custom clutches. So you can have them do a k series diameter with a different spine.

Rx8 manual transmission they sell adapters to mate with a k20/k24
Cut the transmission housing and weld a piece back on to create space where the starter is on the block location.. or use an s2000 transmission which already have adapter plates and clutch solutions by different companies like inline pro.
Grab an ar5 trans out of a 2wd Colorado, fabbot has an adapter for that combo and it’s much stronger than the t5.
You also need to make sure what clutch u use will work with the flywheel of the k series. As well as the input shaft has to have the same spline count as the crank.
Crankshafts don't have splines, clutch pack will need to have matching splines, which isn't a problem if he's using the clutch that came with the transmission.

It can be done. But will it be done in the time frame your wanting. How many times is this gonna get put on the back burner. Might be easier to get a trans and plate already made. At least you know it works.
Set the backwards template down & redraw it then it’s up-right
CD009s are pretty common for rwd k swaps. Kits are already available. And you can still buy new CD009s.

Bro no body used that adapter plate!!! Everyone used s2000 tranny with k series motor! Simple to find, cheaper than to get that adapter plate custom-made
The e46 6 speed transmissions aren’t too expensive and they have a lot of swap kits for those. Just another option. Cheaper than others too.
Something like this should really be drawn up in CAD. I'm sure you could get someone on your discord with some CAD skills to help you out. Your gonna just need lots of relative measurements and stuff and they should be able to draw up everything to fit perfect

I think it would be cool to see you put that t5 on the K. Stock they are kind of weak units. But tremec makes a TKX t5 that is pretty stout.
I think it would be as well.. they're pretty weak but I'm not really looking to make crazy power out of the blazer.. just want it to be more of a cruiser. I really kinda liked the clunkiness of this trans when I had it in the S10 as well.. 😆 I don't know, it was a vibe.

Change the bell house on the trans
They make a kit already with the 350Z transmission that goes on the K-series
right before you said it i was thinking you could possibly swap the bell housing. maybe theres one from a more common swap that fits your trans and also has adapter plates available for the k series.
If you're using the K series flywheel and the Chevy clutch and pressure plate than i don't think you'll have much issue running the Honda starter if it bolts to the motor side. You'll just have to clearance the trans and create a dome cover for it Id say. It looks doable, might need a machine shop to create the spacer off the crank and use and carrier bearing from the Chevy in the spacer but that's a simple part to make. Id say go for it, I'd love to see a bastard blazer build!
I think the bigger issue is getting the starter to reach the flywheel after putting the crank spacer in
Use a different trans that has an adapter made or if you do get a adapter cutting the trans for the starter is not that bad especially if there’s an adapter in between

Suggestion. A S2000 trans or a CD009 can be
Remember the K series engines sit on an angle, so if you line the top of the gearbox line with the top line of the engine, your gear stick will not sit correctly. Also the stater issue, if you use a k series starter, then you will need a k series flywheel, then you will run into the issues of the clutch plate center splines not matching the gearbox splines. There's a lot more things to look at before doing this. I highly recommend buying a kit made with everything included. Will save you a massive headache

If going off ls based adapter plate you could go with nv3500 they are plug an play ls bolt pattern they came behind 4.8 ls trucks would work with the adapter plate for ls transmission bolt pattern that would be a easy route

I have 98 s10 I'm planning ls swap down road it currently a 4.3 auto but old 4l60 is beat so iv been doing alot resurch on nv3500 swaps only bad for me is out here in Alabama their hard to find for fair price
Check your input shaft size to see if they are even compatible.
They have a adapter for the rx8 transmission to fit a k series
Those t5's are maxed out at like 250 tourqe
Tilt the trans to clear the starter

I’m thinking cover trans starter hole use k factory hole with crv starter just match up k clutch with trans see how far off it will be it be close but if I’m looking at it right doesn’t seem impossible lmk if this works I’ve used cd09 to k in the past with an adapter plate me and a buddy made before they started manufacturing them

Would it be possible to make an adapter plate for the bell housing from the K trans fit the pattern from the other trans? Just a thought. If so then bolting the transmission to the K series motor would not be an issue.
May have to go with a rwd honda trans or go electric. ⚡️

Men weld the gearbox to the engine
with the spacer, using a gm starter might not be overly difficult to line up
Also, to add to this theory- talk to someone that rebuilds those transmissions, and see how much you can get away with rotating it. you could easily get the starter outta the way of interfering with anything, if you could rotate the trans a little bit.

It would probably be easier and more cost efficient to just buy an s2000 trans/ adapter or cd009/ adapter and just make it manual than spend money and time to make that work, cuz money is time!

You should use an RX8 transmission. Those RX8s are left for dead everywhere. They make an adapter plate for the k series.
