"women will want to have sex with you if you get hit by a truck" refers to isekai animes where the main character is teleported to another world, often by a process of dying in the "real" world and being reborn in the world of the fantasy anime setting. A lot of these (if not most) are also harem animes and the most common way to die in the origin story is by truck. This happens so often people started refering to the truck that kills the protagonist Truck-Kun.
Ohhh is that where Truck-Kun comes from?? I thought it was just any truck in any movie. Is the truck in Pet Sematary also Truck-Kun?

I love how Jack thinks he knows what anime is, but his knowledge is terribly outdated and does not, at all, resemble current trends.
Omg I'm glad it's not just me, Ive been a long time fan of Jack's but some bits here really kinda show his age. And also sometimes the "Erin doesn't get nerd culture" running gag on this channel gets a bit old 🥲
Yeah honestly I feel Jack is approaching Boomerhood fast. I kinda blame Erin. It’s even worse since his mods get it and they pick the answers, so he just gets confused and says the mods are shit. Truck-kun has been referenced in YIAY like 4 times and he still doesn’t know what it is.
I think it’s a combination of Jack not knowing much about anime in the first place plus his age

Disney lost the rights to Ghibli, actually--GKIDS owns the dub rights now. But Disney did do all the dubs for a long period of time.

Accension of a Bookworm is a popular one i can think off the top of my head that has a very mellow protagonist. Just think cute little girl, 8 or so, trying to invent the printing press so she can read books again!
All the studio ghibli films are precious as well, Ponyo is just the sweetest and has no angsty teens, just a little fish girl and her friend =)

Also the the frame that says "I'll now proceed to pleasure myself with this fish." is a notoriously crappy mistranslation, the correct message goes like "I'll now proceed to eat this fish." It's from Code Geass; which is really good and has very little to do with fish.
I love how he got people to watch all his recent YGS videos to find the moment where Erin says IMDB was wrong, when it was actually in a YIAY that hadn't been uploaded yet.
As a member of my schools start wars club, I can confirm that nobody addresses Darth Vader as simply "Darth". There is only one instance in the movies of this happening, when Obi-Wan was fighting Vader on the death star, and in the novelization, it is noted that it caught Vader off guard as unusual.

the closed captioning interpreted “hentai” as “end times” and although they’re not necessarily synonymous they sure are two big common themes of today’s world

Ninjago is an anime. Someone who's one age but looks like a different age, a tournament arc, a beach episode, I'm pretty sure Nya grunted once or twice, like 20 dead parents (some come back, some don't), people die all the time, people are resurrected commonly, has scenes that you don't want your parents walking in on (like when Jay became a femboy), full of attractive men, power up transformations, cool fight scenes interspersed in embarrassing to watch scenes, the only real differences are, crazy hair = side character, and no crazies with Ninjago pfps on twitter.

Crazy hair doesn't nesssarily mean side character in Ninjago, most of the main characters have fairly distinctive hairstyles, especially Kai and Zane.

Some of these answers are really revealing about the person themselves. The anime experience can be so different based on who's watching. I like anime where the main female character is like me (like Nagatoro) or stuff made for women/girls. It's completely different from some of these answers.

Girl Meets World was an amazing and underrated show. I'm still pissed that Disney canceled it.
The show was on disney channel but the main audience was people in their mid-20s, it just didn't appeal to gen z

Everyone. Literally EVERYONE calls him Vader (including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Vader’s old master, in the very first Star Wars movie ever made in 1977).

@@n30dark since Darth is a title and he is directly addressing Vader, that's much more like calling someone "Lord", "Prince" or "Sir" in a one-on-one conversation, when just saying someone's title without their name would usually need further context if you weren't already discussing the individual.
