My favourite production of Cosi.
This (2006?) Glyndebourne production was magical! The sets, the partnership between the cast were so compelling. I sent to amazon UK for the blu ray and have enjoyed it many times.
This is a wonderful production and I am very pleased to have it in my DVD Library ❤👍

Yes the 2006 cast is the BEST largely because the 4 lovers are all very attractive. But this “superficial” element is utmost important for this opera because Cosi contains not only Mozart’s most sensual music perhaps for the entire operatic repertoire. I imagine Mozart would have been very delighted with this production.

The original Glyndborn/Hytner production I still adore on DVD was a wonderful gimmic free production of Cosi with a marvelous cast, orchestra and set design. To me it still appears flawless and one of the most amusing, touching and humane investigations into the human condition Ive ever seen. It will be a real feat for a 2021 version to equal what has gone before but well worth a go. Hoping the season goes ahead, if not could it be either streamed live or turned into another DVD/blueray offerig to keep the finances going?
