    I really respect you doing this video, my son is now 3.5 and has a severe speech delay. My health visitor was useless, I had to sort referrals out myself when he was 2.5. My son has a lot of sensory issues, and with both things put together we thought it could be autism. It isn't he went to a panel in febuary. Your doing all the right things and honestly your a fantastic mom. It's normal to want a brake, and sometimes I think we do lose ourselves, we just become mom. You will feel a lot better when she is in nursery and look forward to picking her up hearing about her day. Nursery will really help her with speech and I bet she will love it. Phoebe is such a lovely little girl and a credit to you. I know the group's can be daunting I'm not really a fan either, it's just taking that step to getting in there once you arrive and the more times you go you will be fine. Xx

    Just watched till the end, am glad you are getting answers and referrals don’t stop till you get the answers you need. I have 3 under 3 10 months between them and I feel you, it’s so hard daddy gets all the fun times when he’s in from work and am just moaning and stressing constant and can’t wait for bedtime, some days and good others are not. It does get better my two oldest are now on Nursery 15 hours a week and it’s taken some weight of my shoulders. Sending you a huge hug xxx

That’s so normal I work part time at the min and this makes me enjoy our girls days so much more, nursery will be great for her and you so good your thinking about that but yeah the cost of it is terrible, I hope you make it to the Salt session and your not to anxious xxxx

    I've always loved how raw and honest you are, it's like you're speaking my mind! I'm glad you're open about struggling with P cos I feel bad for thinking this sometimes and I really shouldn't if it's the truth. I'm now a single mum so Eloise gets the funding and it's amazing how much she's changed! P will come so far once she starts, especially her speech. As someone who suffers crippling anxiety too, I get what you mean about the groups. I forced myself when she was a baby cos I knew if I didn't break the habit of not going early, I never will. I feel like this is the reason she's so confident and she got 100% for communication in her check this week. I honestly understand how hard it is but maybe try going with Neil and you'll be so proud of yourself! Xx

Totally understand where u are coming from when u say u need a break as i am with my boys 24/7 all the time & we live in a village around a hour away from family & friends & i don't drive & without much of public transport so its bloody hard as much as i love them to death. This is such a fab and honest video! So many vloggers will only talk about how they're exceeding in all areas, far too advanced in all areas blah blah and it's not real life! My son is 18m and only says 5 words so far, he's just not interested in talking so got some great pointers to work with him!
    Also if you're thinking of nursery anyways, could you not look for one or two days work a week and put phoebe in nursery then? I'm leaving work soon as got made redundant and although I can't wait to spend time with my son I know I'm going to miss that adult time where I am just me x

      @JVCxo  Před 6 lety

      When I go to the speech group I'll let you know of any tips I have for you, hopefully it will help a bit. I'm glad you're talking about some of the issues because as mothers there's a lot to take in about our kids and I feel like being more open and connecting to other mothers makes it easier. Also I wish they would do our well visits in the states the way they do yours I hate going to the doctors every few months and then once a year. My daughter absolutely hates people and I think she would do so much better if she was home then just screaming at a doctor's office because they are people talking to her lol

    • @JessicaFangs
      @JessicaFangs Před 6 lety

      Also my daughter is whole clothes out for a little bit. You know I'm not going into in-depth description but it's sealed itself shut , most likely from getting irritated from a wet diaper that just closed up. And I was so freaked out and I'm actually did open I was giving medicine but I decided not to use it

  • @soundsfamiliar3
    @soundsfamiliar3 Před 6 lety

    It does sounds like you had a fantastic health visitor :) I have qualified in Speech and Language Therapy and she has given all the right advice which is quite rare!
    Please please don't worry about the drop in appointment. You will most likely be given the same advice and reassurance. It will be a nice, calm environment with lots of toys for P to play with! They might demonstrate some examples a bit more, like when your health visitor talked about asking questions. It is really hard to stop asking questions in day to day life so don't be kick yourself for doing it but do set aside some time for it. Just take 5 minutes of your day with P and think about it as giving a running commentary. You don't need to do anything special! "Ooh, I'm just putting these bananas in the trolley", "Mummy is drinking coffee" etc. Do some repeating of some of the words P might have a bit of difficulty with, i.e "yes, you do have a biscuit" and as the Health visitor said try not to highlight her 'errors' as P won't really be noticing them herself at her age. It can feel a bit daft to do, especially at first. A really small amount of time with less expectation to talk does make it really easy for a child to give more of their to attention hearing words and language. It draws them to looking at the mouth and how it needs to move to make the right sounds that make up the word as well as all the meanings the word might have.
    An SLT may also think about hearing too and if any temporary ear problems (regular infections, glue ear etc) or hearing loss could have an impact to speech and language, so they might ask you a question about that. It is really common for an SLT to refer to an audiologist for a hearing test and in most cases all is normal but is key to rule out.
    A delay in speech and language is incredibly common and can resolve very quickly on its own - which is why they often watch and wait. Any advice that is given is only to make tiny tweaks that may help speed up language in the instance of being a little delayed and not because you are doing something wrong!
    From a Mummy point of view - I completely agree. I have a 20 month old son and enjoy working with children so thought I would always LOVE the idea of being a stay at home mum. I am still waiting to find my first SLT job since going back to finish my degree last year. Being a stay a stay at home Mum is, hands down, the hardest thing I have ever done. I find its a bit of a cycle I can get out of. When you feel so unlike yourself, lost and unable to cope at times as a Mum that you dont have the confidence to apply for a job or do something new. Thank you so much for being so open and honest about it in your video - I have those same feelings, word for word!
    Wow, sorry for the long comment. Hope some of it is useful. Ashleigh xx

    How about seeing if your friend with the younger baby who you went to the caravan with wld go to Bounce and Rhyme with you because I think that is suitable for all ages, even babies who can not even walk but can just push up and down on Mummy's knee can go.
    Her speech is slow but another vloggers little boy was not saying any words at all at P's age, but I think he is 3 next month and over the last couple of months he has come on amazingly and is not far off forming sentences. So you never know what the next few months cld bring. Please don't take offence by this but a lot of Mums are guilty of asking a ? and then in the same breath answering it for example we might say "What's the matter, would you like a snack, yes, come on then let's go and choose something" so even though they understand everything you are saying they do not have to try to respond because you are doing it for them. Plus remember there is no right or wrong age for them to do things, they all do it in their own time.

    Pleased you've got a referral now for the things you're concerned about-I'm sure she'll be fine 😘 you've done so well to be a full time mum for 2.5 years there's no shame in saying you can't do it anymore. Isabella has been at nursery/pre school for 2 days since I went back to work November 2016 but I've just had to increase my days to 3 because I couldn't cope with her for so many days in a row 🤣 but she loves it there anyway. She incessantly whines at home but they say she's so happy at nursery-probably because it's free flow play and she can be outside all day or doing messy play all day if she wants to but it's not like that at home 😬 think P will really enjoy nursery-I just contacted my local ones and arranged an appointment to look around. I can't wait for the free hours when they turn 3 🙌🏻 we'll still top up as she goes to breakfast club and out of school club but it'll be so much cheaper xx
