  • Yamaha Tracer 9 is an excellent platform for a sport-touring motorcycle. Yamaha did a great job putting all ingredients together. Three models are available for the 2023 model year - Yamaha Tracer 9, Tracer 9 GT, and the new Tracer 9 GT+. Let's see how they compare to each other and which one should you choose in 2023?

I’ve had my Tracer 9-GT for 22 months now, and clocked up 11,500 miles on her.. It’s a fabulous machine for covering big distances, and indeed for carving up twisty roads!
The new 890cc engine is an absolute masterpiece, it just makes power everywhere in the Rev-Range, and makes an incredible sound to boot, it’s highly addictive!!
I too have it in Tech Kamo, which in my opinion is the best colour, it’s much harder wearing and durable than your high gloss paint schemes, and doesn’t show up those fine scratches like those bikes do… 👍🏻

    Another great video Sergey,
I own the Tracer 9GT version and have to say i use it most of the time in modes 2 on all the settings, as i forget changing it, only change it to mode 4 when raining ( the rain mode ),
I do like the KYB suspension as it does the job for me and never have to adjust it, unless i have a passenger ,
rest of the options are personal preferences, i love the split dash , as i use my phone all the time for navigation, music etc.
Keep the great work coming. 👍

I agree with you about the dash. When I ride I watch the road and scenery not the dash. I have the 2021 T9GT and it suits my quite well. I started riding in 1967 so this bike is so good compared to most earlier machines. The stock seat isn't uncomfortable as many complained. I am used to spending many hours on racing bicycle seats so this stock seat feels great.
Overall, the Tracer 9 is a good value for an all purpose bike.

Agree 🙏 I am also riding triathlon bikes :) The seats there are different level of “uncomfortable” :)
I bought comfort seat. We will see how big the difference is. But I believe it also depends on the pants materials and if there any padding.

I have also the Tracer 9 base model and it just offers a lot. There is no need for the electronic suspension if you are not a real sports rider. I rode also the GT model and film it. Now I got the comfort seats and will do a video about it. Overall a great bike for the money.

Tracer 9 with additional "necessary" options seems like the best value. For me all the tech for braking and cruising, seems to defeat the point of being intimate in the environment and in the moment when you are riding. I guess you can argue more safety is always good, but when you get to minutia of safety concerns and comfort, then you probably need to get a car. ;-)

It is hard to beat the Tracer 9 in terms of its features and price. If you don't need the electronic suspension and if you don't need the quick-shifter... then the Tracer 9 base model will fit you well. I have it and already filmed some videos. Can check them. Got my like bro. I mostly agree about the Tracer 9 base model.

    Hello Sergey
    I really liked your video.
In particular, how you presented the various versions of Tracer. I fully agree with you in your assessment of the individual versions. I am planning to buy Tracer 9.
I have a question for you about driving the Tracer with a top case. Please tell me whether the motorcycle is stable at higher speeds? Would you still recommend this model considering the kilometers traveled?

    • @SergeyVikultsev
      @SergeyVikultsev  Před 6 měsíci

Hello Tomasz, no problems with Top Case for me. But I don’t ride faster than 150 km/h. Beyond highways, my average speed is 70-120 when travelling. So, in that range, the bike is stable.
I know that the previous generation did have a problem with stability. That’s why the top case wasn’t offered as an accessory when using panniers.
The overall experience - the bike is extremely reliable. After 1.5 years - zero issues. I know some GT bikes did have electronic recall, but I didn’t have any of those, at least up to this point.
Just to give you an idea, both triumphs I ride had warranty situations. All bikes have more or less similar mileage travelled.

Thank you for such a quick answer, I am more and more convinced about Tracer 9. I am also considering Versys 1000, but compared to Tracer it is apparently less lively. Thank you again and best regards.

    • @SergeyVikultsev
      @SergeyVikultsev  Před 6 měsíci

I might look biased towards Tracer, but I am not. In my opinion, whichever bike you choose in this segment (Tiger 900/Versys 1000/ F900XR/NT1100/Multistrada) it will be better in some particular areas. Still, as an overall package for road-focused use and maintenance experience, Tracer is unbeatable. Whichever bike you take 9/GT/GT+ you’ll not miss anything. But test ride one before you buy it if you can.
Take care and happy new year.

You know this is the 4th time im watching your video. I'll take the GT instead because firstly im short at 160cm and probably my legs cant handle the additional weight. Secondly, the radar is not applicable as looking at the massive traffic jam and cars cutting into lanes without signalling. I'll slam into them if i rely on the radar. Just my opinion.
