    Here in Oregon I use smelt that I catch during the run in July....nice bright silver looking and I freez them.
    When I go dino fishing this time of year on the Columbia River I will thaw my bait 2 days in advance and I will let them sit out in a cool place. .... I have some fish oil that I like to use and I will let that soak into my smelt.
    I hookup an average of 18 fish a day and by the time that I get into March my arm is blown I've caught 36 dinos in a day on the Columbia River.
    One of these I'm gonna have to show you what Oregon fishing is all about ... 🤘❤🤘

      How about the American River shad run, just below the dam? Combat bait fishing, but then you can find a minus tide and anchor 50’-100’ upcurrent of fish in the bay. The slightest dip in the rod tip- wham! Walls of ship channels.

      San Pablo Bay is pretty shallow in most area. We were at 13 fow this day but some times we fish 6-8 fow.

    • @hookjawhunters9419
      @hookjawhunters9419 Před 4 lety

      @@MooMooOutdoors oh dang. That's intense shallow water fishing. Crazy how so many monster fish get caught in less than 20ft of water. Does it get really choppy/windy? Or is it sheltered? Thanks!

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  Před 4 lety +1

      @@hookjawhunters9419 Yes it gets very choppy when it's windy. I've been out there when it was 20 mph with 3 foot wind waves. At that point you can't even see the bite unless one takes the bait and run with it.

    Have you ever used the uni to uni knot to connect lines? Do you think the fg knot is better?

    • @MooMooOutdoors
      @MooMooOutdoors  Před 4 lety

      Yes I have in the past. I personally like FG and albright (on the water) when I'm tying braid to Mono or Fluoro because the braid wraps around the mono or fluoro. I use uni to uni when I have to tie same type of line together. With that said, my buddy uses uni to uni for all connection and never had any issue with it.

    • @FishnFrank420
      @FishnFrank420 Před 4 lety

      @@MooMooOutdoors Just found the GT knot, it has been tested to be the strongest and it is easy to tie. I know people favor the FG knot as it goes through the guides easier. With a leader attached to the braid you would not be casting with it anyway as it would be mostly trolling. or when you land the fish you still wouldn't be reeling into the guides. I'm going to try it next.
