No, they want to be allowed to govern themselves under their own laws & not be required to assimilate into US society. Basically, they want to form their own country(s) within the US & require the rest of us to support them financially.

I live in a California town right next to a reservation and casino. I decided to find out about the local tribe here and they are really awesome! They even used funds from the casino to protect a huge piece of land here from being purchased for a rock quarry (those are really bad for local water and health). I’m so grateful they are such an important part of your local community. Everyone who lives in or near Native land should check out the history of the local tribes!
Was this Viejas?? I know the Kumeyaay even placed a rescue helipad right on the reservation and it serves San Diego and Riverside counties. The team is called REACH. They even bought thier own rescuce chopper. How they built up Alpine is amazing.
I fully support the economic independence of indigenous people but I still find it sad that our nation’s history has created circumstances where multiple tribes have to rely on casinos as the most viable method of acquiring resources
Our native tribe also has a Casino. I used to work there and the proceeds of the place go towards the reservation, their school and hospital and that was the first time I felt like I was actually doing something good with my time.
Do you actually know anything about native Americans and their history? They were doing horrendous things to eachother LONG before Europeans came to the americas, slavery, torture and infanticide just to name a couple examples
Bro so you publicly admire rape, torture, murder, kidnapping, and genocide happening for thousands and thousands of years? All major parts of Native American culture... Blindly saying you admire other cultures can put you in a pretty disgusting place. For instance saying you love African culture means you also love their belief that raping a virgin cures you of HIV. That is still going on today all over Africa and has been for decades. So saying you love African culture means you love that millions on prepubescent girls have been raped by men with HIV trying to cure themselves. Saying you admire NA culture means you admire all the things I listed above. Pretty horrific of you to be honest. Why do you admire mass torture, murder, and rape bro?
Nobody wants you to go anywhere you listen to the psycho people or look back hundreds of years to what happened then as if that’s what people think or want to do now when it’s not the case.

And they all mysteriously died out." Which is so inaccurate it's beyond insulting.

Some people who have lived on their lands for thousands of years are actually the dominant peoplew in their land. Look at the saami and the whole of finland. We have lived here as long as the land wasnt under permament ice
As a Native American from Canada I’m very glad to see this and awareness being brought to us in any manner possible. We’re a very vast and diverse people. Us from the north have quite different cultures than those from the southern states and the coasts yet we’re all connected and related to one another through our history. Respect to all my indigenous peoples and of course everyone who joins in learning about us

I don't ever want Native culture to disappear. It's a stain on history how Native Americans have been treated and displaced. The amount of original culture that was lost when they were uprooted from their lands and no longer had the same plants, animals, and surroundings that their unique religions and practices were built upon, it's heartbreaking to reflect on. They are a culturally rich and beautiful existence. Keep surviving and passing your culture to the younger generations. I don't have Native blood, so it is not my heritage to protect, but I hope the coming generations take as much pride and passion in their roots as those who came before them.
Did native Americans literally ran around rating other people's land all the time they uprooted people from their own lands and stole them. It just happens to be that the European colonizers were more advanced and had better stuff. We didn't walk in and start taking shit, there was already a land grab going on when we arrived we just ended up as the victors. Real History needs to be taught again
please protect us! it may not be your heritage to partake of the culture but it is good ethics to help protect the displaced in society. it's always good to advocate for us on the important things like landback and legislation!!!
😂 Nobody cares that you are 1/1600 native. Most people have or claim to have indigenous blood in them. I am allegedly Cherokee. It means absolutely nothing to me. I've never participated in that culture a single day in my life. I stand apart from them Just like you. You're not special.
Awesome people. My friend in our local Tribe held a healing ceremony for a friend in another state battling cancer. Why? Because I mentioned her in conversation. They put together a package for her.
I think it’s an absolute crime how much native culture is forgotten or butchered in media and film. It’s so fascinating and there’s so much to love about it
I love that lady that says They want to be treated like everyone else.... I think that's a very fair thing to ask... I will most definitely do that indeed
The wise older woman says "We don't want to be treated any different than others" in especially terms of respect. We need to LOVE and Cherish our human family and never bring anyone to harm; All of us.
you contradicted yourself. the truth is they DO want to be treated differently. not only different than how we treated ourselves, but different than how THEY treated themselves and us. the audacity
I was just thinking about how we don’t use aspects of individual cultures in the business setting and why that’s not considered professional. I think it will be really interesting if everybody was able to incorporate certain aspects from their cultures into their work attire. I know that was pretty random, but your comment kind of spark that thought again.
@@hunnybunny20000 my workplace and many others I’ve seen have done this! @bobespirit2112 depending on how you look at it, none of them are also lol. Native americans came to america over a land bridge and weren't native at that time
My mother was very proud of her Native American ancestry that she made sure we became documented member of the Cherokee Nation, and had a custom jacket made after we went to a pow wow when I was a child. She wore that jacket for 30 years before she passed last year, and meant so much to her, that it was one of the special items to pass on to her loved ones. Even though I am the youngest, I had all the say in who got what.
think about how often you hear people saying things like "native americans did this..." "native americans believed that..." in past tense. they're still here. it does need to be said.
Or even saying "Native Americans" as if they're all one homogenous group instead of 500+ unique and vibrant nations with different cultures, traditions, lifeways, and histories.
@@insertusername310 I wasn't trying to imply there's something wrong with the term itself. Obviously there are times when it's necessary if referring to a heterogenous grouping of Native people. I'm just communicating what I've heard from Native folks in my life, which is that they get irritated when generic statements are made about the proverbial "Native Americans" as if they are all one homogenous culture and not many different groups of people with different ways of being. For example, sometimes people will refer to "Native American Legends" even though stories and folklore come from specific bands and tribes, they're not universal. Does that make sense?
As a man married to an indigenous woman from the Mohawk tribe, I have never felt more accepted and more welcomed than her people and her family. We can all learn a thing or two from their generosity and empathy
Even though I am native and grew up with it. It’s still so baffling that we as people are so generous and helping to everybody. You’d think through our past we’d be more secluded and not welcoming to outsiders. But it’s the exact opposite. It’s just the native way haha. Make love not war.
As a native man i can tell you because you are a non native outsider your wife got/gets piped down by her "native husband" on the rez and the whole family knows of it, it's a rez thing a native thing.
Yup🤔 When researching my genealogy, I discovered I am basically "3/16" Mohegan (from the 2 "sister tribes" out of CT & PA); so I did MORE digging. A "Native American Historical Preservationist of Indigenous People" originally from The Mohawk Tribe (& known as one of "the last shaman") helped me piece the puzzle together. I met with people from The Mohegan Sun & even did further research. My Irish immigrant ancestors (O'mulRyan's & Moore's) sought protection from NYC authorities [they were escaped "indentured servants"; OR better described as SLAVES) & found it with the Mohegan Tribes. It's a long story...I could expound more about what I learned; but it's a "novel"🤔
It hurts my heart to hear “you can’t get rid of us” the idea of other fellow people wanting to get rid of another just isn’t right. I wish there was more of this stuff out for the world to see.
It’s sad to hear because it’s the result of communist brainwashing. The native tribes alive today are the ones that partnered with us to eliminate the crazy evil cannibalism tribes that were constantly trying to kill and eat them. One debunked historian Howard Zin convinced everyone of the opposite. These people are so lost they don’t even know there own accurate history and I know this because I’ve met the ones who do. We don’t want to get rid of them and never have. Did democrats? Yes is plainly obvious in party history, but not America as a nation.
@@dukecraig2402 Questions: weren't they often stealing land from each other? Can we be sure the first two indians on a plot of land didn't take it from two real native Americans? Shouldn't most of them just be called early inhabitors? Did they have a receipt from God for this land? Is there any law that says the first on the land owns the land? No Considering a tribe didn't even use much land a couple hundred years ago, wouldn't it be normal to move a few miles away from them, use that land, and if you prosper start using more unoccupied land? Please stop. There are many survivors of this battle between settlers, governments, cowboys, and native tribes. Mormons are surviors of the same attacks and friends of many native tribes, yet certain tribes still want to hold fabrications as truth about them. Same with the orgeon trails. Same with reservations. Truth is we dont know the full scale wrong that was done to everyone at that time. Settlers wanted to settle and natives said no and became a threat to the people and the government. The government saw it as a declaration when it could been a lot more peacefull if fully understood. But the government was getting powerful and wanted to show its ability to control the situation to other nations that were causing wars and messing with american goods. The government wanted to appear as a dont f with me power and this from the natives was easily misunderstood and they became a target. Then with the violence of the civil war giving birth to Cowboys who were generally most often violent jerks who roamed the world in search of victims because either they liked war, felt wronged by the government for getting involved or who saw the world as a being who owed them their entitlement. Pioneers and settlers were settlers who were also individuals just as natives are individuals even in their own tribes and individuals have a way of hating each other for any reason and not every story that gets told about individuals is true, kind, or even helpful. Lots of people miscommunicate and it seemed at that time there was a lot of it going on for people who became both villainized and martyred. History isnt there for people to like but its hard when people either dont understand or lie about it and there was a lot of that on every side. I mean for goodness sake we still do it every day! But yes many of us want peacefull relations and to better understand each other. But to do that we need to stop finding ways to lump each other into groups of villains.

I am Jamaican and I love the true American Indians. God bless them.

They aren't INDIANS
That land is not India, I dont know what they call USA or NA in their Native tongue but certainly not India😂😂😂
@@SKS_Dil_Se_Desihe meant indigenous people
True indians are in India. That would be like someone discovering kool aid and call it wine because of the colour; then saying that you love true wine kool aid…
Bless ALL the Native Americans - they should be treated with respect and their history/culture be known 🙏.
exactly! slavery, conquest, murder, exploitation and ruination of resources
The original human beings lmaoooo
As a white person having spent time on a reservation and having a Chief take me under his wing ...I can tell you these are the most gracious people I have ever met. The life lessons and humility they taught me are invaluable. 😊
dont get it twisted they did attrociates to white people too
Woah! That's super interesting. What tribe was it, if you don't mind me asking?

It does make me proud that one of my heritages is knowing I'm a descended of Native American❤
Why?
Agreed. Blackfoot, Cherokee, Seminole, Lakota here. Have a distant cousin that’s a Chief of a Lakota Tribe in NC. I only wish my ancestors had embraced that side more.
Why?
I'm part Cherokee , glad of that but also part Irish I know of their struggles and famine in Ireland, and also of the bullying they did to others when they first came to America, I learned about 14 years ago I have some Asian in me, and look at the evil communist things they do . All these nationalities have good people in them also .
It only means you're a descendant of the most genocidal tribe, the one that beat out all of the rest 😂
Glad your still here your beliefs and culture gives me hope for the future.Great respect
Well, I hope they stay alive and protect their land. I know how difficult what you have been through many years ago. But now I know I have to let things flow. Respect from 🇲🇽

@changthao4875 God is not responsible for what evil, hateful & greedy people do! I have free will to choose to be kind and civil and to share the world alongside people who may believe differently than I do! You have free will to stay ignorant and vengeful. It's a humans choice to behave how they choose to behave. I had zero to do with what happened to American Indians. Anyone I have ever met in my life from different American Indian tribes are welcoming people. They are not disrespectful like you. ALL American Indians existing today should receive some government land back! Lastly, freemasons are not my people. They do pretend to be. What happened to Native Americans is unfathomable and so utterly disgusting and heart breaking. I would put my actions, heart and mind against yours any day. You do not know me or God............obviously because if you did, you would know the history of freemasons and how they masquerade and fool people into thinking they worship & love God. They do not!!! Murdering people is not what God tells me to do. It's one of the 10 Commandments that greedy and vile people break. I wouldn't want to be them for a billion dollars. When God hands out consequences for murder, it is always harsh and so it should be. Their death bed is miserable & full of fear! Thank you for your comment. May God be upon your heart one day to enlighten your mind and soul. Evil people will unfortunately exist in this world til Christ's return. When Jesus does return, He will wipe away the evil! Praise be to God! I will pray for you this hour. God Bless you.

I love the Indigenous peoples. I'm retired now but I taught history and went to a conference in San Antonio and they had come from many nations down to San Antonio. They helped me SOOO much. I wanted to teach their history right. They gave me info and materials and phone numbers. I am so grateful to them and I KNOW my middle school kids graduated with a thorough and real knowledge about so many nations. I was even able to inform other teachers. I can never thank them enough.!
God bless fhe full blooded natives from Alaska alll
The way to South America , for we are all family!
How native Americans are so humble, loving, nice after all they've faced and continue to face is beyond me. ❤️
They arent, i live by many of them and they commit the most crimes and are always rude. Of course they are gonna act nice for the camera, think.
UMM WRONG if you want to hate on us your bad.. medicine and we are so nice but some are mean
I live like 3 miles from the Navajo res. There are more native people than Mexicans blacks and white people. They work regular jobs like anyone else off of the res. Although some people I have met never left the res in their entire life, as my husband was a tow truck driver for Scotty and sons in the local area
@latinaparfait that's just the place you live. You live in the hood of native Americans. Bet you live in a shithole like Arizona

We are still here and still carrying on our traditions beautiful people respectful people AHO
Native brother! Im Cherokee :)
The traditions are dying off the last code talkers are all dead now!
AHO my cousin
Sadly a lot of indigenous practice and culture is looked down upon so less people are passing down the culture.
Why they look asian tho
Survivors!! Been through so much and still have so much dignity much respect ❤️
The government has to set the tone and give respect to our first people! So much to learn from them about the soil, water, air, etc! Listen to them, learn from them, live with them!!!
I know there's a lot of stupid entitled bratty white people who give me a bad name just as there are some entitled bratty other people be they white, brown, black, or yellow (insensitive term to lump together asians italians and espania people together). If you want to be offened you will be and theres no one who can stop you because youre an individual who cant see individuals anymore than any individual normally does
Brother.. these people aren't 200+ years old.
@@VidMediumNSyeah but the ones you mentioned,it wasn’t there land they were stealing it by genocide. The native peoples were fighting for there very existence
@@gianttheworldender914 There's a psychological term based of science called generational trauma. I'm not talking about the snowflake kind but the very real generational trauma people actually have to take a stand against.
I'm native and I really care and so we're still here and never leaving
Ive never seen my father as happy as he was working the the people of the fort peck reservation in MT, he loved the people, they made him a beaded tie that he wears on special occasions and gave him a blanket which has a special meaning the the Sue, i dont know what it is myself, but he was so proud.
One time, my dad told this floridian woman he was a dakota man, and when she spoke with my mother over the phone later, she was like "Yeah it's crazy he was talking about being from a tribe. Those went extinct ages ago." Then my mom explained that he was native and she herself was too (anishinaabe). Kinda wild and depressing people just think we don't exist anymore, and even more depressing how many of us have has zero interaction with our cultures.
Where I live in Tampa I’m pretty sure they were the seminoles.
I have always felt Native American history was such a huge part of American history. It should be taught in schools. I’m pretty shocked we start with Europeans that came here but don’t learn about indigenous people. I love it when all people keep their traditions and history alive.
They do teach it, I’m in highschool right now. However, this is all they teach now…. Saying that Columbus was a murder and Whites are horrible people.
I mean, it was taught when I was in school, but it’s not taught anymore. My 10-year-old son asked me what native Americans were and how they became part of society apparently…
Being of native American decent I fully believe it is a huge part of American history that whites tried to erase. It is ever so heartbreaking to see our heritage erased from History Books😢
My mom is FULL alaskamo
Like she looks NATIVE.
I'm partially white;
I am part russian since when russia owned Alaska; they had fun with the Alaskan women.
Not a lot of people are taught that Russia messed with the Alaskan Americans.
By the way for yall information; Native Americans are not Alaskan Americans.
Those two American Indian groups are two very different groups.
Their cultures were shaped by environment.
Not, Native americans is the HISTORY OF "AMERICA". The beginning and the end.
I would love to see more videos on indigenous culture and I think you’d really gain so much support and open peoples eyes if you helped give these people a platform to speak the truth!!
And I for one am glad you are still here. Your culture is laced into every facet of our life. Most people don’t realize just how much influence the First Nations have had and still have on everyone in the americas.
I remember the Native American tv commercial, it was 1970 or 1971. He was crying for, to keep America beautiful. Pollution was rampant in rivers and streams as I recall then, and media began doing a lot of television commercials to raise awareness. This particular one made me very sad to see the lone tear roll down the Native American Indian man's face. I never threw another piece of trash out the car window after this!!
It was Iron Eyes Cody
LoL, it was exposed later, that was an itialian actor...
He wasn’t even a Native American. They just stuck some feathers in his hair and hoped no one would notice.
