    I have a few Aero’s. May be the best steel nib I own. I like ‘em a lot. Plan to buy more.

    Well, it is difficult to tell a stiff gold nib from an Aero steel nib, but it should take about two seconds of writing to tell a soft gold nib from any standard steel nib. Smoothness should be equal because only the tipping touches the paper, and with the exception of some Montblanc pens, the tipping on a quality steel nib and a gold nib is usually the same. Softness is a different issue, and if you know how to properly use a soft gold nib, the difference between it and a steel nib is very, very different.
    I never like the way the Aero looked, but when they came out with the orange, I changed my mind. I think it's beautiful. But I do want a gold nib on my pens.

    I would worry about wear on the anodised finish from posting.
