Greetings from Western Australia. I began my academic career at Luton Primary School in 1945. This video has brought back so many pleasant memories. Yes I went sledging on Darland banks, and yes I remember well those little shops. Sherbert for one penny lol. Thanks for showing.

Great video! Awesome to see the past life of Luton, from 100+ years ago, to when this was filmed, so much has changed in the last 10 it looks incredibly different! Wish I’d seen it in its hay day!

  • @buzby303

All you people that lived there back in these old days had the best of it.

Brilliant and interesting , I live near the Luton Arches and often wondered when the Arches where built for the railway line. 1857

This is so interesting and I learned so much. I drive through the arches every day and always sense 'a time that came before' and didn't think I'd ever come across that much detail and photos let alone a first hand account! 😊

I bought my house at the top of Canterbury Street, (Crosley Rd), in 1986 and lived there for 34 years knowing nothing of the Gypsy legacy. I often wonder now what else I missed out on, thank you for the fascinating video.

Anyone who went to Glencoe Junior School, will remember getting on a Pilchards coach to go swimming at Buckmore Park in the mid 70's. Those coaches stank and so did the swimming pool.

Fascinating! Thanks! My Granddad was born in those gypsy caravans on Ash Tree Lane. His surname was Butcher. The site had an actual name of its own but I can't remember off the top of my head what it was...? 🤔

The trains that stop at all the stations still take 56 mins as so many train go into Victoria have to slowdown to get into the platforms.

  • @jonbonjesus1224

I lived there for a year back in 2004. Within a week of moving in some guy got stabbed on my door step. I remember some woman was found dead in a freezer aswell in one of the shops or something like that. Wild times.

  • @irondice5183

This must be older than 10yrs ago (when the video was shot i mean) as that pub that got replaced by the open rice chinese takeaway, well that takeaway was there at least as early as 2003
