I'm reposting this from my response to another person here... along with an edit. The rule for rice is 1c rice = 2c water.... ie... 1/2c Rice = 1c Water 1c Rice = 2c Water 2c Rice = 4c Water Most simple rice cookers will stop cooking when they're ready, either turning off altogether or swapping to 'warm' mode. Luckily this Rice Cooker swaps to warm. Now, if your rice turns out too firm or too mushy after its done, you could add or reduce 1 or 2 tbs of water to the recipe the next time around. - Edit: Some tips... 1. ALWAYS make sure to wash your rice gently if using a rice cooker. otherwise the starch is untenable. 2. I'd also add a tsp of salt just for texture and a bit of flavor to any amount of rice... 3. And if you're looking for a more Spanish/South American flavor, I'd add 2 tsp of butter or margarine along with the salt.
