Before cooking your rice, you can try washing it to remove the extra starch! czcams.com/video/6_utzVsJQhw/video.html
Some people like sticky rice. I am one of them.
Me too😂😂😂
Couple things:
Put your rice in first. Measure it using the little plastic cup that came with the rice cooker. It's not exactly one cup (usually it's actually 6-7 ounces), but engineers that exhaustively tested the machine when they built it included that cup for a reason.
Rinse your rice. Even though rice you get from a grocery store in the States might not need cleaned for dirt, it still ends up with loose starch on it. You're gonna get better quality rice if you rinse that off.
Either use the first knuckle of your finger or the lines in the rice cooker to measure your water. Remember that little plastic cup we talked about earlier? The lines on the inside of the cooker are calibrated to the amount of rice you put in with that little plastic cup. So if you make 2 cups of rice, fill with water up to the 2 AFTER the rice goes in.
If you're going to use technology to cook your rice, use the freakin' technology.
thank you!! this is the clarification I needed
Good Info. Yes I have noticed that measuring cups are inconsistent. I have a 1 cup vase that when filled to one cup line and poured into 2 cup vase does not come close to 1 cup marker
@@johns6795 Generally as long as you use the same measuring cup (or cups from the same set) for most cooking/baking ventures, you'll be fine; but you do bring up a good point. And when it comes to a piece of equipment that comes with a cup, it's always best to use the cup that came with it.
Another trick with a rice cooker, in case you lose the cup that came with it eventually, is one I learned about from various CZcams sources. Level out the rice after you've measured it out using the cup and the lines the first time. Put your index finger in, and figure out how far the water goes before you touch the rice. For some people, it's up to the first knuckle. For me, it's up to the top of my fingernail. Either way, just remember that spot.
After you know that, you can measure the water level up to that point on your finger if you lose the cup, and you should end up with the right amount of water for the amount of rice you have in the cooker. Just check in about 4-5 spots (middle and the 4 "corners") to make sure the depth is consistent.
So you put the same exact amount of water as the cups you put of rice? Also any tips on making the rice more flavorful? Should i add the salt and garlic to the water and mix it before?
@@cutiepie83912 The numbers on the inside of the rice cooker bowl are the lines you fill the water to based on how many of those manufacturer-provided cups full of rice you add. Put in 2 cups? Fill to the 2.
As for flavor, I generally add anything I want to flavor the rice with right when it finishes cooking. Usually some butter and cilantro does the trick for me. Nigella seeds are pretty good as an additive as well.
Who is here after the first utube video the lady talking too much 😂 (BTW WASH YOUR RICE!)
Literally did the same thing 😂😂😂
Me Lmfaoo
Same here hahaha my dog freaked out with her voice!
Adhd brain can't handle lol
The Algorithm is insane 🥹
Watching this instead of reading the manual because I get impatient lol. Thanks for this😀
That’s exactly how I felt 😅. The manual made me so confused and nervous. I watched this video and now feel way better
You supposed to wash and rinse the rice before cooking, he didn't do that.
Cooking my first batch now thanks to your help on how to. Thanks for sharing that was really rice of you!
Thank you for your video. I just purchased this same rice cooker off of Amazon and I am a fan of Jasmine rice
Ok, I got one of these for Christmas almost a year ago and haven't used it yet. This quick start video was perfect.
Thank you! I picked up one of these cookers at Goodwill and haven't searched for a manual yet. Your video got me using my cooker in the meantime!
I’ve had this thing in my pantry for two years, and never knew how to use it. Thanks a lot
Hey thanks for making the rice cooker video. I just got one from a friend which didn't have a manual with it. I have also subscribed. ❤️
Thanks for taking time to create this video !!
LOL! I was going to mention that you did not rinse the starch off on the rice, then you mentioned that you were going for a run during cooking. So kudos to you! Thanks for your time and effort.
Love your personality and vibe 😁
I'm so glad you said it will take about 40 minutes because the instructions that I found online said 10 minutes. After 20 minutes of not having the rice finished, I would have tossed the entire thing out into the trash!
nice video man I'm definitely getting one. and awesome adidas jacket I have the same one 😊😊💪💪
I usually watch videos about hard core automotive repair or electrical stuff, rough and tough stuff.I'm Gen X so this video was helpful and also painful to watch at the same time. Without making a dad joke rice pun, this was one of the fluffiest video's I've seen ( Shaking my head left to right). Good job man..
Thank you for a fast and easy way 😊
You explain so good 😊
Thanks for posting this appreciate it 😬
Very Helpful, thank you.
Thank you, I inherited a rice cooker for a gift...love it already. Thanks for the tips 😀
Looks like a rice genius. I trust him
Thank you. Perfect clip
Great Video Thank You ❤
Tips: Put the rice in first. Then wash the rice like 4 times until the water is clear.
Thank you 👍🏾
Thank You!
Roughly how long does the running light last? I bought a used one from Amazon, and it's either heating up or there's a reason the last person returned it.
Thank you!
Thanks!
Manual says: 1 cup of rice use 1 1/3 cups of water
2 cups of rice use 2 1/3 cups of water
3 cups of rice use 3 1/3 cups of water
4 cups of rice use 4 1/3 cups of water
Basically, for every cup of rice use the same amount of water plus 1/3.
The rice needs to be rinsed off from excess starch for a perfect fluffy rice.
The hero we needed 🙌 thank you 🙏
Lmao came for the video. Left with the comments. Good man
Thank you now I know how I can cook rice with my new cooker
I heard we should rinse it 3 times before we cook it. Or until that white film quilts running off it. And I rinse until water is nearly clear.
Anyone know how to fix E3 error? Used thing maybe 20 times before POS broke. Says overheating error, but it just randomly did it when I tried turning it on.
I’m puzzled over the 2-2/3 cups of water. That confused me. Shouldn’t you use 4 cups of water to 2 cups of rice?
thats what im asking, but in the rice cookers it seem to need less water. idk why
That is WAY too much water. There is a video on America's Test Kitchen channel which explains the science behind the water-to-rice ratio.
I always used 1.5 cups of water to 1 of rice. Well I guess it depends to how you like your rice and what kind of rice it is.
Thank you I just wanted to know what the cycling meant
Awesome
best practice, rise the rice AND add in the rice 1st, then water. thus none will stick to the measuring cup.
I'm trying to figure out how to take the lid apart to clean it. I wish the vid had a cleaning portion.
my guy:
- this did not tell me how long to actually cook the rice for
- the chewing noises in an echo-y kitchen were unnecessary
- but the “steamed vegetable” tip was new information, thank you
Lol most of us are here cause we're confused about measurements, and we're to lazy to read the manual
Funny thing i never used it before and i used the exact amount needed was afraid i got it wrong lol
I got this damn thing for christmas and I'm barely using it since I'm used to cooking riced the old fashioned way
How many minutes for 1cup of rice??
Do you ever wash the rice before cooking it?
Probably not 🤮
Always. Although the first has been removed from your bagged rice, there is still excess starch which needs to be washed off.
After washing the rice, draining it, and then placing the washed rice into the inner pot, there will still be some excess water despite draining the washed rice.
THAT'S why the rice goes into the pot first, then fill up with water to the desired line marker that's printed on the inside of the pot.
I'm curious to ask how long these machines will last for? I'm hoping to get good gas mileage out of it.
And could you in theory also cook normal stuff like full meals, or meats in these? Thanks.
Lasts a years if you keep it clean (including unscrewing the lid and washing it thoroughly)
HOw does it not overcook the veggies? At 40 minutes, the veggies would be liquid? LOVE cocanut aminos, pricey for sure, but great taste.
Add the veggies during the last 10 minutes of countdown of cooking
Me gusta mucho la olla . Por favor traducirlo al español. Gracias
Wash the rice first?
how long do i wait? lol
All is good but you need to rinse the rice until water isn’t cloudy. Just an FYI.
No you don't
@@pumpkinpie7591 ahhhh yes you should.
@@pumpkinpie7591 rice has a lot of dirt and all kinds of stuff. If you’re ok eating that then more power to you.
@@emrodsky4379you’re both right. You don’t need to but you should lol
It’s just a matter of preference I guess.
Dude where did you put the water???
I don’t know if mine is defect because it boils out my water and steams hard sometimes it does the circular thing but sometimes it comes on 10 minute countdown so I’m nervous about leaving it anyone else have this problem
After washing the dry rice and then placing it into the inner pot, there will be some excess water despite draining the washed rice.
THAT'S why the rice goes into the pot first, and then you fill up to the desired line marker (printed on the inside of the pot).
Nobody explains whats the + and - for and or how to use it.
My rice never turns wright..How many cups of water for one cup of rice? I always thought two times the water so for one cup of rice then you use two cups of water?
1 cup
WoW !😮
Rule of thumb I mean rule of forefinger knuckle line: tip of finger should touch top of rice n water should be at forefinger knuckle line
Fastest way to measure, I know, been doing it for over 40plus years and I’m not a professional 😊
As a professional cook you have to wash the rice first
Didn’t you add salt to it
So it 1 cup rice to 1.5 cup water
Still confused on the timer situation
Safe to say mine doesn’t work. Mine stops cooking after about 10 minutes and goes to warm
You didn’t wash your rice though bud 😢 and where’s the seasonings ?
He starts explaining the Rice Cooker itself at 2:40
arent you soppose to add water
Thank you! My sister in law gave me her old rice cooker and she tells me "I'm so sorry I don't have the instructions"
⭐️youtube magic✨️💫
40 minutes wow.
Aroma Booklet is not the most User friendly.
Trying to cook now.... not 2 hours from now 😬😬😬
A lot of commercials regarding low-carb rice cookers but they never tried their glucose test after eating the low-carb rice. Maybe I'll be convinced if they test it and don't shoot up their sugar. That way you will see how the low-carb rice cooker works on your body. Anybody?
Actually 40 minutes is the correct time normally needed to cook 2 cups of white rice. That said, tge actual correct measurement is 2 cups rice to 2.5 cups water. Adding about 1/3 TS of olive oil and about 3 to 5 pintches of salt. I will be cjecking the needed kwh s using the Aroma 8 qt multi rice cooker. I suspect its maybe .075 kwh s .Thats about 4 cents or so worth of electricity.
Following the manual for brown rice is a nightmare.....IT NEVER COMES OUT RIGHT!!! UGH!
My son has this model rice cooker and that's exactly what he says. What's the solution?
I think you have to soak the rice first for brown rice
Wash your rice!
You didn't read the instructions at all. When it says cup it means the cup it came with not regular cup, their cup equals 3/4 cup as in instructions
You not gon wash that rice??
Could barely hear the audio even with the volume turned all the way up
This rice cooker is perfect! I use it only for me czcams.com/users/postUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia and sometimes me and my friend so the small size is really great for counter space since we never need to make all that much. I have been using it now for about 2 months and it still works perfectly. I use it for both rice and vegetables (better for harder vegetables like green beans and carrots, it made my broccoli way too smoosh-y for my taste). It keeps your rice on keep warm automatically which I really like, and I’ve used a few of the settings, flash rice, white rice, brown rice, and steam, and they all work super well for me, although I don’t like smooshy rice so I’ll usually use flash rice. It’s super easy to clean either in dishwasher or hand wash, and it’s pretty easy to get rice out of the grooves by where the container comes out. I assume this one will last me a long time but if I ever need another I will definitely be getting this one again!
It took me three minutes to get through his talking.
And 27 seconds to scoop rice. get water. Press the cook button.
I’ll be back when it’s done and let you know how it turned out.
Rookie
Rinse the rice first people 😊
Video starts at 3:22
It bothers me how you put the water first because it made a bunch of rice stick to the inside of the measuring cup
.....meeeeee toooooooo!!!......why?
After washing the rice and placing it into the inner pot, there will be some excess water despite draining the washed rice.
THAT'S why the rice goes into the pot first, then fill up to the desired line marker that's printed on the inside of the pot.
Why are saying to put in 2 and 2/3 cups of water to 2 cups of rice when the instruction manual says 2 and 1/3 cups of rice to 4 cups of water. Where is the mix up? Who is correct you or the manual? I know that when you cook it on stove top it is 1 cup of rice to 2 cups of water… 2 cups of rice to 4 cups of water and so on… where is the confusion here?
You misread page 11. The manual says to fill up to line 2, if you are going to cook 2 cups of washed rice. That line is technically 2 1/3 cups of water -- and this combo will yield 4 cups of cooked rice
That is not how you measure rice, you measure with the plastic cup that comes with the rice cooker.
I know you didn't put unwashed rice in there😂 your rice probs been tasting weird your entire life
You didn’t wash your rice smh don’t let Uncle Roger find out.
This video made me pissed
No butter or a lil salt issa no for me
You didn’t show shit on the functions lol
You did not wash your rice...not smart move.

@@Anteeknee so yummy
@@Chieflotsadoe if you like insects sure
Oh my God. So yummy. Extra protein.
That's too much rice for the amount of water. Please wash your rice. It definitely don't take that much time to cook Angie rice
40 minutes??? Tf did I buy this shit for ?
Taking mine back today
Wash your rice, it affects the cleanliness and taste of your rice.
Why isn’t the video focused or zoomed in on the cooker? Doesn’t make much sense talking about buttons we can’t see
This rice cooker will get the job done but it is poorly thought out and low quality.
Very difficult to clean. Lid should come off for cleaning machine.
The removable lid liner is flimsy. It will get bent if not very careful.
The fit between the lid seal and the pot is horrible. Rubber lip on lid is partially in contact with pot. Poorly engineered.
And it's impossible to remove pot from machine with liquid in the pot. I like to partially boil my rice and pour off first liquid. Then refill and continue cooking.
Timer situation as you noted.
Just poorly thought out and poorly manufactured. I call it Junk. Maybe I got what I paid for. Pretty cheap. $30. And I mean 'cheap'.
