    Before cooking your rice, you can try washing it to remove the extra starch! czcams.com/video/6_utzVsJQhw/video.html

  • @CidZAER
    @CidZAER Před 2 lety +281

    Couple things:
    Put your rice in first. Measure it using the little plastic cup that came with the rice cooker. It's not exactly one cup (usually it's actually 6-7 ounces), but engineers that exhaustively tested the machine when they built it included that cup for a reason.
    Rinse your rice. Even though rice you get from a grocery store in the States might not need cleaned for dirt, it still ends up with loose starch on it. You're gonna get better quality rice if you rinse that off.
    Either use the first knuckle of your finger or the lines in the rice cooker to measure your water. Remember that little plastic cup we talked about earlier? The lines on the inside of the cooker are calibrated to the amount of rice you put in with that little plastic cup. So if you make 2 cups of rice, fill with water up to the 2 AFTER the rice goes in.
    If you're going to use technology to cook your rice, use the freakin' technology.

      Good Info. Yes I have noticed that measuring cups are inconsistent. I have a 1 cup vase that when filled to one cup line and poured into 2 cup vase does not come close to 1 cup marker

    • @CidZAER
      @CidZAER Před 2 lety +2

      @@johns6795 Generally as long as you use the same measuring cup (or cups from the same set) for most cooking/baking ventures, you'll be fine; but you do bring up a good point. And when it comes to a piece of equipment that comes with a cup, it's always best to use the cup that came with it.
      Another trick with a rice cooker, in case you lose the cup that came with it eventually, is one I learned about from various CZcams sources. Level out the rice after you've measured it out using the cup and the lines the first time. Put your index finger in, and figure out how far the water goes before you touch the rice. For some people, it's up to the first knuckle. For me, it's up to the top of my fingernail. Either way, just remember that spot.
      After you know that, you can measure the water level up to that point on your finger if you lose the cup, and you should end up with the right amount of water for the amount of rice you have in the cooker. Just check in about 4-5 spots (middle and the 4 "corners") to make sure the depth is consistent.

      So you put the same exact amount of water as the cups you put of rice? Also any tips on making the rice more flavorful? Should i add the salt and garlic to the water and mix it before?

    • @CidZAER
      @CidZAER Před rokem +1

      @@cutiepie83912 The numbers on the inside of the rice cooker bowl are the lines you fill the water to based on how many of those manufacturer-provided cups full of rice you add. Put in 2 cups? Fill to the 2.
      As for flavor, I generally add anything I want to flavor the rice with right when it finishes cooking. Usually some butter and cilantro does the trick for me. Nigella seeds are pretty good as an additive as well.

    2 cups of rice use 2 1/3 cups of water
    3 cups of rice use 3 1/3 cups of water
    4 cups of rice use 4 1/3 cups of water
    Basically, for every cup of rice use the same amount of water plus 1/3.
    The rice needs to be rinsed off from excess starch for a perfect fluffy rice.

      Always. Although the first has been removed from your bagged rice, there is still excess starch which needs to be washed off.
      After washing the rice, draining it, and then placing the washed rice into the inner pot, there will still be some excess water despite draining the washed rice.
      THAT'S why the rice goes into the pot first, then fill up with water to the desired line marker that's printed on the inside of the pot.

Adding about 1/3 TS of olive oil and about 3 to 5 pintches of salt. I will be cjecking the needed kwh s using the Aroma 8 qt multi rice cooker. This rice cooker is perfect! I use it only for me czcams.com/users/postUgkxviiltW7NlHbp_VL_bLbIkbLAvILVhnia and sometimes me and my friend so the small size is really great for counter space since we never need to make all that much. I have been using it now for about 2 months and it still works perfectly. I use it for both rice and vegetables (better for harder vegetables like green beans and carrots, it made my broccoli way too smoosh-y for my taste). It keeps your rice on keep warm automatically which I really like, and I’ve used a few of the settings, flash rice, white rice, brown rice, and steam, and they all work super well for me, although I don’t like smooshy rice so I’ll usually use flash rice. It’s super easy to clean either in dishwasher or hand wash, and it’s pretty easy to get rice out of the grooves by where the container comes out. I assume this one will last me a long time but if I ever need another I will definitely be getting this one again!

    That's too much rice for the amount of water. Please wash your rice. It definitely don't take that much time to cook Angie rice

    Why isn’t the video focused or zoomed in on the cooker? Doesn’t make much sense talking about buttons we can’t see

    This rice cooker will get the job done but it is poorly thought out and low quality.
    Very difficult to clean. Lid should come off for cleaning machine.
    The removable lid liner is flimsy. It will get bent if not very careful.
    The fit between the lid seal and the pot is horrible. Rubber lip on lid is partially in contact with pot. Poorly engineered.
    And it's impossible to remove pot from machine with liquid in the pot. I like to partially boil my rice and pour off first liquid. Then refill and continue cooking.
    Timer situation as you noted.
    Just poorly thought out and poorly manufactured. I call it Junk. Maybe I got what I paid for. Pretty cheap. $30. And I mean 'cheap'.
