  • Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing the Aroma Housewares 6-Cup Pot Style Rice Cooker and Food Steamer. LINK to Aroma 6-Cup Rice Cooker: amzn.to/2gnX7d2 This measures 6 inches tall by 10 inches wide. It comes with a tempered glass lid, inner pot, steam tray, measuring cup and serving spatula. The instruction manual has rice and water measurement tables for white and brown rice and steaming tables. There are also a few recipes.
    You can cook rice alone in the unit, steam vegetables alone or you can cook both at the same time. Rice goes in the pot, vegetables go on the steam tray on top of the rice. Take the vegetables out after the amount of time that you want it cooked, then continue cooking the rice.
    You can also cook soups and stews in this pot but it’s not automatic. The unit only switched to keep warm when all the liquid is boiled away. Of course you want liquid in soups and stews, so you have to check the pot occasionally and turn off manually when it’s cooked.
    Make sure the inner pot is dry before you put it in the cooker. Use the measuring cup to add rice, rinse it, drain it and fill with water to the line that matches the cups of rice you put it. If you put in 2 cups rice, go up to the .4 line with water. Put the pot into the cooker. Cover. Plug it in. Press the cook switch down, the indicator light will come on. When the rice is cooked, the cook switch flips up and goes to keep warm mode. Open the lid and stir the rice. There is no off button, you have to unplug the cooker to turn off.
    To steam, put water into the inner pot. Put the vegetables on the steam tray and set in in the pot. Cover and plug it in. Press the cook switch. When 15 minutes has passed, check the vegetables to see if they are done. Push the switch up and unplug. You do want to remove vegetables right away after steaming, don’t leave it in the pot otherwise it might overcook.
    The parts are dishwasher safe or soak them and hand wash them. Don’t use anything abrasive on the unit. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth. Dry all the parts before use.
    The Aroma 6-Cup Pot Style Rice Cooker and Food Steamer is a decent value at under $20. I hope you found this review helpful. Please subscribe and I’ll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)

    Thanks, I had no idea what those side markings were for.
    I think because your unit is so wobbly, you should place the bowl on a flat & even surface and then add the water to the mark. Makes all the difference with regards to burnt bit at the bottom. Sometimes if the smell of burnt rice is apparent during cooking, open lid, add a little water and close again.

    • @paulywalnuts5008
      @paulywalnuts5008 Před rokem +1

      It's supposed to be this way, the black bowl comes out and when there's weight on the burner it settles evenly.

    • @Natasha26
      @Natasha26 Před rokem

      @@paulywalnuts5008 You will never be able to accurately fill to the mark if the black bowl wobbles or tilts in a direction. Hence my suggestion to place it on a flat countertop and to then pour the water to desired marking. You are already going to make a mistake due to parallax error so why compound it by adding water to a bowl that tilts?
      But I can see why this amateurish way of adding water would make sense to people who never took Physics and Chemistry in high-school. I’ve been there and accuracy made all difference in someone who got an A+ and someone who barely scraped an A. Watch _Breaking Bad_ tv-series to understand why.

      Yes, it's meant to do that. It's helpful to check the doneness on the steaming veggies after 8 to 10 minutes; when they're done, use oven mitts to remove the steaming tray, then replace the lid on the cooker to let the rice finish.

I've found this works well for me. Try different things, and you'll find your preference, too.

    why does the dark 'pot' wiggle. My instructions said to 'screw' that little button(element) in the bottom of the heat making down so the big pot 'down' so it won't wiggle. Why did you not show how to screw it down? The crispy rice is called "ta-deek". There are ways to enhance the flavor of tadeek and adding raw sliced potato to be browned crispy can be used on the bottom as well. If no recipes on line for cookinging this -- check with a Persian chef. I'm taking the unit back -- too many unresolved electrical issues about that wiggling button.
