Custom buckers are fantastic but they are their own unique pickup and don't sound like vintage PAFs custombuckers are brighter and more biting than a real PAF. The have the same midrange character but low end and treble is very differentm
I have a few original old PAF’s and have compared them to the custom buckers. I do agree the custom buckers have a bit more bite and are a tad brighter. If you play with the volume and tone you can make them sounds indistinguishable from the originals. And no one would be able to pick which is which in a blind test. I have 50 style wiring with luxes bumblebee capacitors & CTS pots. Makes dialing in those old classic tones a breeze with the custom buckers. Thanks!

Agreed. I bought a 57 Custom Murphy Lab and the Alnico III Custombuckers sound better than any other humbucker I’ve ever played.
