Don't forget that the Lakers could have had Ty Lue if not for the bizarre negotiations. The first sticking point was that they wanted Lue's contract to be shorter and line up with LeBron's first exit opportunity, which sent the wrong message. They also weren't going to let him pick his own staff and hired Kidd as an assistant before finding a head coach.

You made a lot of good points about Rob Pelinka and the coach scapegoating except about Darvin Ham. Darvin Ham was terrible. Absolutely terrible. Imagine Doc Rivers' 3-1 meltdowns but for an entire season. He was giving Taurean Prince starter minutes over Rui Hachimura while the D'Lo, Reaves, LeBron, Rui and AD lineup was statistically the best Lakers lineup this season. He benched D'Lo and Reaves during their slumps while playing players who were giving much more terrible production (Prince and Reddish). He barely played Christie or Wood. And so many other issues. The roster construction may have been lackluster but Darvin Ham was awful as the head coach

Bron haters logic. You think Bron wanted Caruso gone? Bron also wanted Ty Lue and Kyrie on the team but the front office didn't make it happen. Yeah LeBron was ok with Westbrook, but the front office is still the one who executed that dumb trade. They should've told LeBron no on the Westbrook trade and found him another PG that can shoot. This roster build is 100 percent on Rob pelinka and Jeanie Buss

Westbrook trade Bron can hold some stick but for the rest I completely agree. Darvin Ham’s coaching was horrendous and got them to the point where there was no actual starting lineup. • @jjoe7078

That’s not true on this lakers roster. Lebron wanted Ty Lue, Jeanie/Rob didn’t wanna give a 4 year contract.
Lebron wanted Caruso, Rob/Jeanie didn’t wanna give him a long term contract despite being able to.
Lebron wanted back Jared Dudley. He even said publicly that “I thought I was coming back to the lakers, lebron and AD wanted me back but couldn’t convince them
Lebron wanted back KCP, Rob/Jeanie used him as a trade piece.
Lebron definitely didn’t want a 5 PG roster and didn’t want a starting line up consisting of Trevor Ariza, Kent Bazemore, and westbrook or Patrick Beverley as well.

If they are trying to win with LeBron, they have to look into the G League for players because they have soured chances what's others star players, plus they have to pay them. They don't have the money. Otherwise, they have to build around their younger players like Reeves in order to keep up with the growing talent in the NBA. 2 or 3 years ago, they could have went for shooters, but a lot of these players want stability in the Lakers aren't providing that right now. LeBron with the Lakers just seems like he's just existing for the sake of basketball. Like a money maker but not really a playmaker. The Nuggets really exposed the current state of the team.

I don’t want to hear no scapegoat or undermined by LeBron talk for JJ Reddick - If and when he fails as the Lakers head coach. It’s already established and etched in history that he worships LeBron and views him as the greatest/best basketball player to ever live and play in NBA History. He better use all the analytics, advanced metrics and stats to craft the best coach staff and team for LeBron, since that’s his bread and butter. No excuses because every modern player is bigger, fast, stronger than they ever been due to evolution. These are HIS words not mine. He better draft well & use his genius to milk out every bit of modern talent from these players. And he has all the knowledge on and off the court to keep them healthy so no excuses.

I really want JJ to go coach a team, not be the scapegoat for the lakers.
This roster will never be good, and yet the fans and players expect to compete for a chip. And worst of all, even if you last 2-3 years until Bron retires, you inherit a team with no young talent and no first round picks.
On top of all of that, YOU DONT EVEN GET TO COACH! You just run the lebron system, you’re never gonna make your own offense or defense.

He's just so pretentious. I don't think he has the people skills to be a good head coach, I don't think he'll ever be able to win over a locker room. It's not enough to be good with strategy; to be a head coach, you also have to be good with people.
