I can not imagine my existence in this life without her music being in it.

Sandy Denny saved my young life with many a song. No other voice like hers, such feeling and a trailing dreamy morose and deep roses sweet sweet. Love her version of this the best.

Probably my first love encounter as a spotty 15 year old was hearing Sandys voice and RT's sublime guitar playing back in '68. Hearing this again and I'm still in love.
    Just.....perfect.

This should have been released as a single. It's so good, it might have given Fairport some of the commercial success that always eluded them. It really stinks when there's a great band with more than one great talent, and they can't break through and achieve the success they deserve.

You’re so right Tom, it’s an absolutely stellar version of this McGuinn/Dylan classic.

I saw Fairport play at the Royal Festival Hall in March 1969 and I am sure I remember them doing Ballad of Easy Rider in their set - yet the Byrds version wasn't out till the autumn that year so I am not sure where they had heard the song.

@@hertstraveller Oh, I thought this song was recorded at the Liege@Lief sessions. This is what they say in some sources. But they probably performed it before. Thank you very much! I really love Sandy's performance!

The March concert also included Al Stewart and Patrick Sky and the set list available on the internet for Fairport doesnt include Ballad of Easy Rider - but I think they did it as an encore. It wasnt actually recorded till later@@Rock-Tramp

This was recorded during the “Unhalfbricking” album sessions… Lamble was the drummer on that LP.
