- A Grand Rapids woman was disheartened recently to find an unwelcoming letter in the mailbox of her new home.
After the initial shock, she's beginning to feel better after getting neighborhood support.

I think it would be much better if the neighborhood group that said they didn't send the letter actually stand with her publicly.
Unfortunately, it's the usual, nice talk and support till it's time to show up and gather. It's very rare. This person who sent this sick note probably has many intimidated.
Great point!
The person who sent it is probably a member of that group. Perhaps they figured out who it is and don't want to throw their own member under the bus.
Agreed! That is how neighborhoods learn to be stronger than people😊 that tear it down.
It's the homeowner's association which means it's made up of some of her fellow neighbors and she said her other neighbors have been supportive since receiving the letter. One would assume that at least some of those neighbors are either officers of the H.O.A. or are members.
Does nobody in the comments own their own home?
Just once, I would like to see someone engaging in this hateful behavior have the balls to put their name on it. Cowards.
I hope the rest of the neighborhood welcomes this woman and child and offers some peace and security to this Mama and her baby.
Really great point! Coward is the polite word for this letter writer.
I had a neighbor threaten to lie about my kids yesterday because she was upset about something else. To say I was shocked and appalled is an understatement. You just do not expect what people can do when they get upset with other things in their life and take it out on you.
Next time she says something like that tell her that you have recorded what she said 😮
Report that to the police and document it
You should expect it. Humans are generally shit, so that's what you can expect from most of them.
Whoever wrote that is nasty, and clearly unhinged! Much love to that lady and her child. I can’t imagine the anxiety, she must’ve felt reading something like that. Nasty people!
We recently had the only Black family in our neighborhood move out due to a similar letter. We found out about the letter and had a 'support' barbecue on our cul-de-sac, the one on which they resided. While they appreciated the support, the husband said that he felt that the single person expressing such vicious behavior was an immediate threat to his family's safety. Our neighborhood has Hispanic, white, Asian.... Young families, old pensioners. People who are losing their hair (me) and people with green hair, and people whose hair changes color (seemingly) on a weekly basis. If we could find who wrote the letter (the woman in this vid had hers hand written, so maybe someone would recognize the writing), we would be showing them what ostracizing someone really meant. No mercy for such hatred.
That's unfortunate they had to move. I'm not very outgoing but I love living in a diverse neighborhood where everyone coexists, some more friendly than others, but most everyone at least occassionally giving a little wave or more.
My daughter (white} is married to a black man. They bought a house (because they both WORKED!) and moved into a nice modest suburban neighborhood. Immediately, the neighbor across the street put up a 'For Sale' sign in protest. They were 'cordially' shunned, and their son was bullied on the bus--there is more, but too lengthy to continue.
After a couple of years, they had to relocate for a job and move out.
Shortly after their move, the snooty house on one side of them was busted for high end drug dealing (they drove new Lincolns).
The guy in the house that put out the 'For Sale' sign and didn't sell it had a PTSD experience and tried to kill half the neighborhood.
BUT, that young bi-racial couple on the corner . . . watch out for them!
A woman wrote it.A really sick human being.
@@pamcooper5837yeah that's how it always is. My city is very racist but they try to hide it. I prefer more up front racism
I like that “a more up front racism!” Yes, say it in person, cowardly people. Let those you are racist against have their say, or are you afraid of truth?
People got nothing better to do but harass a single mother just trying to make it better for herself, and her kids. People really need to stay in their lane and mind your own business, it’s hard enough to just live life in this day and age. Stay strong young lady and make it better for you and your kids.
Couldn’t have said it better myself, man!
Exactly how much time and energy did some miserable person waste to write this letter. Nothing better to do. What a loser.
Exactly. There's some strong irony there that the letter-writer is telling her to keep herself and her kids to herself but they felt perfectly justified to try to get into her business.

I’m so sorry you got that horrible letter. The writer played into every ignorant, racist stereotype there is. Don’t let him or her steal your joy. Congrats on your new home! ❤
There are some evil people in this world, and the person who wrote the letter is evil. This lady seems very sweet and approachable. It is sad that someone felt the need to write such a rehensible letter to a neighbor he or she did not even know. Shame on this person for being so mean and judgmental. I hope the victim sees there are also some really good people in this world also, and I hope all those good people step up to the plate and welcome her.

The letter was probably written by ONE racist (in the truest sense) person. Too bad her happy bubble was burst. I'm glad the neighbors are rallying around her in the face of this bully.

Sometimes white passing people are even worse. I watched a documentary about a man who came from a white passing family. He was born darker (still not dark at all) and his family chastised him for it. They would tell him to pray for God to forgive his sins and lighten his color. Mind you, his grandfather, who was the main culprit, had double the black DNA he did. This man just physically looked darker, but his DNA was nearly all European. A lot of people in the comments said their families are white passing and treat dark black people like crap. It’s called internalized racism.
No, no, this is just the USA and the country she controls. It's a problem your country started and it will end when we get rid of that.

That's why I'm glad to have a husband. B w don't understand that many neighborhoods don't want single moms & their children living there. It makes a huge difference having a decent husband to conduct business. Even where we live now there have been more single moms moving in with kids (different races). The reality is that you can tell which kids have a good dad in the home vs the kids who don't.
It is what it is. My son is grown, but for years after his dad & I divorced I was a divorced single mom. I didn't get upset & understood why some places wouldn't want to rent to me. Now I'm married and pregnant since I understand the importance of having a strong husband and father in the home. It makes a huge difference.
And the blaq community is always trying to argue about the reality of how society views single moms instead of using that energy to build blaq families, businesses, & safe neighborhoods that way this single mom trend wouldn't even be a discussion

@@stickerlady1774I've seen the same thing happen in my neighborhood but at least my neighbor's do not tolerate any bs so usually these type of people don't last very long in our neighborhood
😢😢😢BLESS HER AND PRAYING THINGS WILL TURN AROUND IN A POSITIVE DIRECTION
How disgusting…this poor woman. That’s so hurtful.
Why does she have to move there?
It’s like you people think that access to white people and their living spaces is a human right.
Why do they have to smile politely while yet another neighbourhood slowly becomes ghettofied?
I know. I feel so bad for what she must be feeling. It’s terrible that someone did that to her. I hope she lives a great life and is able to look outside the situation to know that she is truly so much better than those hateful people who wrote that disgusting letter.
She's always welcome to be my neighbor ❤
❤❤❤❤Bless you❤❤❤❤
@@tezsginolol. Who sneezed??
Ok mr Roger's LOL
1. I think the reporter on the left agrees.
2. I kinda get why the letter was sent. They don’t know how she is and they want a safe neighborhood.
We currently live in a neighborhood, no neighborhood association, and have one particular neighbor who routinely distributes similar type of letters to everyone they feel are feel are disturbing their life. You know, the neighbor isnt innocent of disruptive habits but everyone else is able to live and let live. Really wish there was a way to "test run" before buying/moving into a residence with neighbors that just don't work out.
Stop the hate! Peace and love to this lady and her family🕊️
Stop moving in white places simple you talk shit about white but want white benefits don't work like that this town will be white flight soon
This breaks my heart. I wish her nothing but great happiness in her new home. I hope her neighborhood is not infested with the vermin that wrote that note. Hoping even more the Police Department notes this for any complaints that may be unjustly cast.
Vermin. You sound like Trump.
@@AngelaPickles1929of course, a vermin Democrat like you might well have written that letter. The most racist party in the world.

Cant believe any of this anymore, give me 100% proof its not a hoax
I'd love having her as a neighbor. She seems sweet. I always welcome new neighbors by giving them a painting and introducing myself.
Horrible to have happened to anybody.
yea tell that to th people who lived in neighborhoods now called th hood
@@ron-om1qhyeah if only they’d got a letter like this in their mailbox, they’d all be living in gated mansions now.
The person who wrote that…judging by the paper, the handwriting is the kind of person that would fit all the criteria stipulated in that letter. They are probably the kind who will, sooner or later, need to have a 911 call from someone else because of the way they act, who will leave their trash all over, who cannot control their own kids except through yelling and screaming. People who are so judgmental are usually everything they judge other people to be and then some. Good for her taking it to social media.
She set this up herself.
@@lindinleshe's looking for a big GoFundMe
In these days if social media clout, i would not be suprised if she wrote that letter.
It's always possible but I doubt it. Mostly likely that house is a known rental property and the homeowner has rented to Section 8 recipients in the past. There were probably issues with past Section 8 renters. Also there is a screen capture of the letter and it mentions about there being retired policemen and detectives who live nearby in the neighborhood. It also asks her to join that local neighborhood organization, JBAN, but it says there's a small fee to join. The writer also says most of the people in the neighborhood own their homes and are retired. This lady moved all the way from across town. There are certain things included in the letter that she just would not know. Also the writer ends the note with "I know the property owner and will call them..." if I need to. Also, the note is dated November 2nd but it's only on 2 TikTok channels, one is the TikTok channel of this news station. The mom doesn't seem to have much, if any social media presence. So if she was gonna do that I'd expect her to have an Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, etc and have posted it to all of those sites. But she didn't post it. Also the person put it in a sealed envelope in her mailbox and addressed it like a regular piece of mail you'd send thru the post office. This young generation is not doing all those extra steps. Someone older wrote that letter
I hope they were able to get fingerprints off of the letter. The person who wrote it should be put in jail and charged with a hate crime immediately.
This is ridiculous. Everyone should get together and have a housewarming party for her.❤
This is just another hoax.
Yes! 🎉
Yes. a door camera as a housewarming gift so we can see who's leaving the notes 🗒 would be a great idea. I bet the person would stop.
I agree! Maybe she can make an Amazon wish list and people can come together!
Yea right and let the cooperate in her house yea right have all them snakes 🐍 in there stealing and plotting hiding drugs in her house we know who are the largest consumers and it ain’t black women as a matter of fact they are the largest demographic to graduate from college
Poor lady. You could just hear the hurt in her voice 💔
I sure hope the neighborhood unites and supports her. Shame on them if they don't. God bless this lady
I hope it comes to light who actually wrote that letter, and I hope the news follows up on it.
Yeah media shouldn’t focus on real news - we want tabloid gutter journalism, and to see someone harassed for writing a polite letter
@@nocomment4848Wrong. That letter was NOT POLITE.
@@nocomment4848shining a light on disgusting racists is news, you barely sentient potato.
If you this this is polite you are dead wrong! This is absolutely criminal and harassment. Arrest is in order for whoever wrote the letter and hopefully jail time as well.
@@sharonjohnson4636 it certainly wasn’t a polite letter. When it’s discovered who actually wrote it, that person needs to be held accountable… even if it turns out the author does not fit the prevailing narrative.
Is there any more to this story? The note seems to be heavy on issues with her children. I'm just wondering if something happened that prompted this. Not that it's the right thing to send, but just curious what the media might be excluding here.
Letter looked like it arrived during move in days. But she's young, kids probably young and loud like kids are especially if they get to play outside. Cranky old people get mad. I'm a cranky old person about noise so I get it. But that's a long list of stuff nothing to do with anything. I'm sure she got the garbage day and recycling information
Single, black woman and FATHERLESS, unruly, loud, misbehaved children who she obviously lets run amok!!!
I scrolled so far down to find this kind of reasonable comment. Those points were so specific and had a tone of frustration to them. I would like to know what happened during her move in. Like the part talking about her not touching their property/vehicles? That was oddly specific.
@@ladylily Yes, the media often softens stories about particular "folk" to leave out crucial details in order to paint another example of "racism."
You're just a racist using language created by people who wear red caps and watch The Five. '"Folk"'? Really?
People are so arrogant and full of themselves. Bravo to this young mother for ignoring the haters and posting their stupidity for the rest of us to see!! We need more people calling out the bad apples in our society. Congrats on your new home, I am so glad the rest of your wonderful new neighborhood stood up to proudly shout-down the lone diot and welcome you properly! 🥰😍🥰😍
she seems so sweet . i’m so sorry she had that happen
I’m glad this made the news
It's race baiting cringe.
Meanwhile, White kids are being bashed to death by gangs of black people and the media ignores it.
No one should be treated like that…..she’s on a different level than that lowlife that wrote that disgusting letter. She seems kind ,sweet & strong♥️the good neighbors will welcome her & this one disgusting person will be overlooked❣️
I wish I lived there because I would so be your best friend and good neighbor to you. God bless you and your family ❤
If you are going to write a hate filled letter like that have enough guts to put your name or return address on it.
May God protect, comfort, and grant her peace. ❤🕊🫒🌿
Amen....Praise God 🤗
It's obviously been granted already, the worst she has to worry about is a letter essentially saying "we treat everyone with respect here"
Police should check her handwriting to see if she possibly wrote the letter.
Oh they definitely need to go over that letter closely. Should be a priority to find who wrote a hateful letter like that. I noticed they said it was in an envelope, I've heard they can get DNA off of cigarette butts so I imagine they can get it off of a licked envelope.
I have a silly question - according to google maps there is no 829 Watson South W. Grand Rapids Michigan there is 827, 839, 821, did someone made a mistake? 13 On Your Side?
STAY STRONG, AND DONT LET THEM ..... RUN U AWAY! 🙏🏾
She needs to get the strap👍🏽
Indeed. She should not move, if she doesn’t want to move. Her and her children should make it a loving 🥰 home. I hope she’s not hurt by this letter or the person who wrote it. Love ❤️ from Australia 🇦🇺
I'm so sorry this happened to you.....the Westside is the best side and hopefully time and people will be able to show you that....stay strong, stay safe!
I love the west side .,..but that letter wreaks of white privilege and hate
How shameful for someone to send such a thing to someone!!!!! I hope the whole neighborhood shames that hateful person.
You can live where ever you want. I would love a neighbor like you.
She should makes copies…write her own reply..make copies of it…and place both the copies of that latter plus hers and put them in the mail box of every house in the neighborhood …and who ever wrote it will get their reply and the ones that are on her side will come forward.
Excellent idea
Why allow this awful incident to escalate?
I think taking the higher road is prudent here.
Brad- I agree but unfortunately in this case the person who wrote that letter already feels privileged and empowered…you must face that person or for ever live under their mental games until one day it’s no longer mental and they start acting on it…stop being such a coward in life it’s ok to walk away when you won’t ever see the person again..but when it’s close to home you must show you’re not afraid and that you will not be a coward and that you will fight back at anyone who attacks you…grow a pair pal.
@@bradspringer2372 interesting, so it's prudent for HER to take the high road, despite how incredibly threatening and offensive that letter is? I'm not surprised you would suggest that.. I bet you also don't think that this was newsworthy, right?
She should CONTINUE to stand up for herself, so that scummy people can't get away their irrational, disrespectful behavior.
