This is Superman, what Snyder never understood or just refused to see. He's the best of humanity and he challenges them to be what he sees in them because as this comic so beautifully shows he loves humanity and is proud no matter how many mistakes are made.
If a light hearted Superman was in demand why Superman Returns make less than MOS and Ironman did. That means sit down somewhere with ur ignorant Zack hate.
@@newagerise4638 I don't hate Snyder and I'm not ignorant, it's both petty and a weak arguement to claim I do. The best Superman stories both in comics and adaptation are ones that challenge his light heartedness and morality, Man of Steel was lazy and likely made as much as it did due to the action and spectacle. Superman vs the elite and Superman man of tomorrow are vastly superior films because they understand the core of the character, Snyder wanted to make his movies dark and edgy but compromised the core of the characters to achieve this. That is why I dislike man of steel, it's a poor representation of the character - a weakness of writing born of misunderstanding the character.
@@zoeibbotson4064 Oh ur very ignorant fact Studio and Nolan because of Dark knight success wanted a dark version. But Zack originally wanted Superman lighter toned.
@@zoeibbotson4064 And how did Avengers Whedon JL do it sucked. Then Zack returned with uncut version got more internet rave than Endgame.
@@zoeibbotson4064 In comics 3 time's Superman killed vs Zod, Doomsday and Cyborg Superman. And I forget All-star Superman made more than Man of tomorrow better critic's and he killed Solaris in it🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.And again it's okay to be stupid God still loves you.

Any director that calls Superman boring should NOT be making a Superman movie.
exactly.
They shouldn't be making a movie period
That is why I am extremely hopeful that James Gunn will give us possibly the best take on Superman as Gunn has proven to have a deep love of this character since childhood and has expressed how much the character means to him and how this film essentially will be about the true power of empathy and compassion in an otherwise uncaring, cynical world, which is everything Ive always wanted in a Superman movie
Should be a general statement not to adapt source material you consider boring
Except he can be very boring at times.
Not every Superman story has him flying around smiling and crying at the world, just being wholesome and such. He has stories where he has doubt about his place in the world, where he’s angry, depressed ect.
And IMO the best Superman media outside of comics isn’t Reeves flying around being a boyscout.
It’s Smallville(yeah he wasn’t Superman), JLU Cadmus Arc, Superman & Lois, Zack Snyder’s Superman. I like when Superman has an edge to him.
People need to get over themselves, these characters have many different interpretations.
Some people like the overly joyful Superman, some like Superman having a bit of an edge.
Even with both companies shoving the Multiverse down everyone’s throat, you still have people saying this is how Superman should be and should never be deviated from. This is the perfect Superman.
"Images that go hard."
*Superman saying **_I Love You_** to Earth.*
"Clark is the hero. Superman is just a symbol." Good lad -- you GET it. "He isn't dark. He isn't edgy. He's the embodiment of hope." You get it 100%. Great video, magnificent insight.
thank you
☀🕊😇Superman is a Shining Angel of Light😇🕊☀️@@AwdaFilms
He's boring af. And his comics don't sell losers.
I agree .
It really is an important point that Superman does represent hope, not just that help will come to those who need it, but that someone granted power really will choose to do good and not just like their pockets.
There is an early Superman comic where he helps a down and out boxer to regain his title. No supervillain or big stakes, but just a story about kindness. This is what we need more of.
I've heard of that before, do you know what comic it is ?
@@AwdaFilms I saw it mentioned in another video. It was an early one from the 1930's. Superman also had the ability to change his appearance and impersonated the fighter. Very cool. Don't have the title
@@AwdaFilms Found it - Superman No. 2 released on October 4th 1939 written by Jerry Siegel drawn by Joe Schuster - "The Comeback of Larry Trent". A Golden Age tale that pits Superman against sports corruption as he fights to save the soul of a former Heavyweight Boxing Champion. From Pulp Culture YT channel
I think that you’re thinking of Superman Vs Ali. From the 70’s.
A modern comic would tell the same story and then have the twist be that five people who needed Supes more died during the training montage.
If only spiderman could be this wholesome. The modern comics are brutal
fr… a Spider-Man comic with this much love would genuinely feel so refreshing
Read Renew Your Vows, it’s the most wholesome spiderman run.
Second Renew Your Vows and literally anything with Mayday Parker in it. If a writer cand do unironically good dad-daughter relationships than they have all the wholesome you need
What’s going on modern day?

Superman *should* feel like a bit of a dork, a little bit cheesy, because he's just so damn sincere, that in a pop culture overflowing with edgy, subversive content, he's just some nice old school wholesomeness.
And sometimes that is a bit cheesy and a bit dorky. But it still makes you smile.
Superman & Lois Clark version is just like that :)
@@Meme_Conqueror yesss
Superman isn't dorky, it's that the last few generations are so darn negative about virtue and integrity, we have become pessimistic and smug in our sophistication. We have changed since the 1960s and not for the better.
@@kathleenhensley5951clark is bit of a dork bro .especially in his early days .superman in public is just a act
@@kathleenhensley5951Here's the thing, though. Nobody ever says the same thing about Spider-Man. Or Flash, or Dick Grayson, or Captain America, or even someone like Midoriya. Au contraire, people love these characters for their sense of moral virtue, compassion and determination to do what's right even in the face of both adversity and people convincing them otherwise. Maybe blaming Superman's unpopularity on some nonexistent societal moral decline is foolish, considering that characters like him can and do still find an audience.
That single panel where Clark says "I love you" to a world that we fail to love as much as we should is beyond amazing. If I had to choose a single panel that represent Superman as a symbol of hope and kindness, that would be it.
I used to be bored with Superman but like… there’s something special about him and I think we’re seeing a resurgence of the best of his character
exactly, Superman was boring because they neglected the most important parts of his character l
He was called boring not bcuz hes OP .saitama is OP too but nobody calls him boring .superman gets boring title especially thanks to mos and superman returns .those 2 tarnished lot of his image like superman didnt even have any personality not even ounce of chemistry with frickin lois wth 💀. Would ppl even like a uncharismatic stoic with no relatabilty ? they didnt
Superman saying I love you to the ENTIRE HUMAN RACE goes hard
Real
Man, I didn't even know this comic existed. Gotta hard agree that it's a breath of fresh air. As much as I love the grey area and gritty, it warms the heart to see a superman comic with a true superman. Down to earth, loving, caring, and always trying to help.
when I read this comic it genuinely changed the love i had for the character.
I feel that. That panel of him looking at Earth and saying, "I love you," just hits so hard. Actually made me tear up a bit.
The entire series, SUPERMAN: RED & BLUE, is crafted with the same kind of unabashed love, affection, and respect for the character. There were multiple moments while reading it that made me cry. It's a special series or stories that I doubt could be pulled off so readily with any other character. Go find it -- you won't be let down!
I always found the best Superman stories aren't the ones that is fulled with action, but the ones that shows Clark's humanity
For me, the thing that makes supes and batmans friendship interesting is the fact that, Batman feels Bruce Wayne as his mask, while Batman is his true self, and on the other hand, Clark is just clark. Being superman for him is a way for him to help people, a way for Clark Kent to help people. 2 total opposites that in my eyes really compliment each other, which makes their friendship made sense
I do really hope the next movies can show a more in depth view on their friendship
I love the bit in which Clark Kent verbally disarms the robber. More specifically, the cashier telling him even though he isn't Superman, he'll always be her Superman. It made me laugh and well up at the same time.
I dont gey emotional often, but that image. Superman, no, Clark Kent looking at the Earth and saying "I love you" legit brings tears to my eyes.
Ive been through bad BAD periods of depression and one of the things thats helped me is looking into Superman and what makes him so Super.
He is an embodiment of hope, kindness, and the good of humanity.
Superman isn't a god.
Superman isn't an alien.
Superman is a man who does what he can to make the world a better place. He's who we should all strive to be.
He may not be a biological human, but inside, he's just as human as the rest of us.
Powers or not, He’s just a guy trying to do the right thing
You know I'm really glad I've been seeing a recent resurgence of interest in Superman. I think it partially maybe because we're just exposed to so much bad news nowadays. Climate change, poverty, war, and just the overall knowledge that so many of our politicians and leaders are failing us really bums people out. It's so easy to just give up hope and become a doomer. But Superman reminds us that even he can't solve every problem or save everyone, but he always tries his best because he knows that if we all give up on fighting for truth, justice, and the good in people, nothing will get better for certain. And if we all could be like Superman in terms of morals and acting upon those morals, the world would be so much better. That's why his character is timeless and one we should all try to emulate.
beautifully said
"Climate change"
I know, right? Those alarmists have been 'sounding the alarm' since before my dad was in diapers, and he was born in 1960.
he has unironically become my role model i say this as a 30 year old man
That "youre special" from pa kent made me cry smuch, not just because of the raw love showed but because it reminds me so much of my loving dad who passed away 2022, that love and care is something i still miss to this day, wonderful video truly
Rip dad, you were always my superman
rest in peace
The beauty of these short stories is that they remind us that true strength comes from empathy, humanity, and love. When I read Super-Sons, it made me so happy to see how lovely and polite Jon was. Superman, Clark, is an awesome superhero and will always be because of his golden heart.
Thats what we need ina movie superman at his core isn't some god level alien, hes a kid from kansas. He's compassionate, hopeful, sees the best in people when nobody else does, he strives to be his best and knows rhat everyone else can be their best too. Hes the comic equivalent of Mr. Rogers
If people want an edgy god-level alien, they can go read about Martian Manhunter. His "other-ness" is the point. Clark isn't that. Earth isn't J'onn's home, Mars is. Earth is Clark's home, and he loves it more than anything.
3:03 …goddamn that’s..
HOO
Don’t cry don’t cry don’t cry…
Not gonna lie, the way they drew Pa Kent looks exactly like my grandfather. I saw Pa telling Clark he's proud of him and looked back at a picture I keep nearby.
I hope he'd be proud of me.
This is the only man to make batman happy
U know why batman gets along with superman the best ?
Daniel warren johnson gives a lot of heart to his stories. This man had me tear up reading transformers.
Facts, I feel like he took a lot of his experience from this comic and placed into into his rendition of Optimus prime, ESPECIALLY at the deer scene, god those panels make tear up every time.
It’s even better when you realise the comic is dedicated to the writers dad
People forget Superman is a super man.
He is a man just like all of us, he is the best of us
I’m supposed to getting ready for work & here I am crying because of a good man that sees the best of us
This made me tear up a little bit. You beautifully encapsulated everything I love, not only about Superman, but what originally made comics so near and dear to my heart to begin with.
Thank you for this video, you managed to reaffirm something that I have felt that has been missing (mostly thanks to the industry being coopted by preachy mouthbreathers who detest the very work they're creating) from comics and the "fans" (its been harder and harder to find people who are legitimately fans of the books and not as a consequence of the movies) who now utilise the medium as a vitriolic platform for belittling and beleaguering anyone and anything that doesn't perfectly fit into the pidgeonhole of whatever checklist of personal beliefs they've had uploaded to their hive mind that day.
So thank you for showing me that true love for the media that has given me so much enjoyment and escapism from my personal woes still exists.
I wish you all the best for the future, not just with your channel, but in every aspect of your life. May it be full of possibilities and happiness.
With love.
I appreciate this comment so much. It’s honestly amazing how much love people have for Superman… I wish nothing for peoples viewpoints to change on Superman which is part of the reason I made this video.
It always warms my heart to see people reject Synder’s garbage version of this beautiful character!🥹
I know this video is from nine months ago, but I'm glad we're getting a resurgence in appreciation for the _real_ Superman
I read that comic he called the magnum opus. man it made me tear up. Pa Kent filled his childhood with so much love that Superman has enough to share it with the entire world that when he looks at the world, and he says he loves it and he is proud of it. If that isnt superman, i dont know what is.
I was teaching my self to walk again as a child and that last panel inspired me to be as tactical as Batman, compassionate as the flash ,and a good human like Superman
I've never had a comic affect me as much as that chapter did. The first time I read it I was full-on ugly crying at how beautiful it was. To this day it still chokes me up to read. All of Red and Blue is incredible, right up there with All Star, Man of Tomorrow, Kingdom Come, etc. but that one chapter is elevated so far beyond just being a comic for me.
The music at the end was supposed to fit better but the initial video got copyrighted so I just reused the masterpiece of a soundtrack by Hans Zimmer because yeah… perfection.
Thank you, Anwar, so VERY MUCH for making this video! This is the Superman that I grew up. When I was little, every Friday my mom used to take me and my sister to buy one comic book for each of us.
Part 2: My sister would usually buy an Archie comic. Meanwhile, I would usually buy a superhero comic, usually Superman/Action. Growing up in the 70's, I fell in love with Superman. I loved that he represented hope. And he was always willing to fight for "truth, justice, and the American way." Why? Simply because it was the right thing to do. That "Superman:Red and Blue" comic seems to be the hero that I fell in love with - both reading the comics and watching the Christopher Reeve movies. 😍💖😍
The beauty in this video is that it’s about Superman but in actuality it’s a lovely view into the heart of a beautiful person(You)
I appreciate that so much man, thank you
That is a beautiful story indeed. And I’m glad someone else loves it as I do.
That said, there’s no need to put what Snyder did, down. Snyder’s Superman was not dark or edgy. His WORLD was dark and edgy much like ours. And Clark is faced with very tough choices in those movies.
Yet at his core, Snyder’s Superman is hopeful, kind, heroic. He looks for guidance, from his father, from his mother, from Lois, from a priest. Even when he meets Batman, he tries to talk things out with him first. it’s a Superman at his beginnings. He struggles, loses his father and keeps trying to do the right thing.
Even the possible Apokolips on Earth Superman is a Superman that was pushed to the edge. Zod pushed him to the edge as well.
Was everything that Snyder did perfect? No. He made the same Superman we all know but in a realistic setting. I’m sick and tired of people putting Snyder down when I saw with my own eyes that he loved Superman and had a path, a journey for him but you all wanted a realized Superman from the get go.
Buddy thats well friggen said, i think the exact same
you can love something and still completely brick an attempt at it
I'm really glad to see the recent "reclamation" of Superman. Between the Snyder flops, and the "Superman but evil" trope that got tired very quickly, it's nice to see a return to form for the Man of Steel. It's like you said, he's the embodiment of hope.
Clark is the willpower, Superman is the ability to enact it. He's good through and through. Unabashedly sincere
I hope more people remembered that Superman is Superman not because of his godly powers, but because he is a humble and kind man. And he makes you want to do and be better through the little things that matter, just like he does.
I teared up listening to your video and watching the panels. It’s just so beautiful and touching ❤️❤️
I really appreciate you thank you
So glad somebody else gets it.
Superman tackles pretty much everything and is considered overpowered - but his level of antagonists is damn-near cosmic level in strength/power or have abilities that can change the world as we know it. That's the conflict part of it.
Superman isn't just the "super." He's more the "man" than he's accredited. It's his heart and compassion that makes Kal-El one of my favourite heroes for the past 50+ years.
As for killing Zod? He did that in the comics, too. It's the why he did it and what it did to him, afterwards that counts.
He may have a "no killing" rule, but he learned a hard lesson that there are times when you need to do things you are against if the innocent are going to survive. War taught me that part.
I can only strive to be half the man this fictional character is written, but I think it's a good standard to uphold.
>steps off of the soapbox
I’m glad the people have been finally understanding what makes Superman great.
I may need to track down this book.
Also, I've heard Gunn's Superman movie will take heavy inspiration from All-Star Superman, which is another great book that i love.
Yes I guarantee you’ll love it, and yeah I heard about that. I love Gunn as a filmmaker so I’m really excited for Gunns take
When the Superman trailer eventually drops, Starman has to be the song they use. It would be so perfect.
Beautiful work, truly. Thank you Awda, for your contribution to keeping the spirit of Superman shining on even in a world increasingly consumed by cynicism, continuing to remember and remind others of the eternal value of sincerity and compassion. It is people like you, continuing to hold those values, and above all, hope, in their hearts, that reassures me and reminds me there is ALWAYS hope for humanity's tomorrow.
Thank you Awda; all the best to you.
Thank you man, i'll always forever keep the spirit of superman alive. He's inspired me since I was a child and even now continues to do so.
I’m very sick and in pain right now, and this made me cry.
Zack Snyder ruined how we all viewed Superman those who actually know about Superman know that he is the greatest superhero ever not because of his powers but because of his heart he's the most pure of heart superhero he's such a kind and caring guy Superman's greatest power isn't the ability to fly or see through walls it's his kindness Superman can save the day without even using his powers just by listening and caring enough to give someone a little light when they need it the most I wish the movies understood that
Literally, a scene where Superman has a talk with someone, comforts someone etc… would be so beautiful and wholesome. We need a Superman with heart.
Superman is such a benevolent figure, that's why I don't like it when the writers turn him into the bad guy 7 different times
Great video. Similar vibe to Superman: For All Seasons. Another great introspection into the character.
thank you
@@AwdaFilms You're welcome. Keep up the good work (Y)
Superman is like "It's not about the powers, but rather what you do with them"
God i cried reading this, it's just so inspiring, we should all strive to be like that
I’m glad you were able to break through the cynicism surrounding Superman and see him for what he truly is. That’s a hard thing for many to do.
hes a starman waiting in the sky
What everyone totally skips out on is the friend part of Superman. Every comic I see of Superman helping innocent people they never nail the friend aspect of him. This comic is simply beautiful when I read it.
You've sold me on it. I'm putting the conic on my wishlist
I’m a sucker for stories like this.
I heard this somewhere else, but it's actually thematically appropriate that Superman is usually the one who ends up beating Darkseid in the end. Not necessarily because he's the strongest, but because there's just something special about the abstract concept of evil being beaten by the good in all of us. Because Superman *is* goodness. He's the type of person who would save a kitten from a tree, answer Christmas cards from strangers, and save the world all in a single afternoon. Not because he's strong enough or fast enough, but because he's compassionate enough.
That is Superman. That is Clark Kent.
I too thought Superman was boring. Then I read All-Star Superman. It was a good read, then I got to the Regan Scene. I still cry every time I get to that page or bring it up. It finally got me to understand and respect Superman.
this comic is the embodiment of the starman edits of superman
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
I saw the same panel yesterday in a Starman-Superman edit Ave I was astounded by it too. I had the same viewpoint about it that you started at the start of the video but now I wanna be just like him.
Dude, same here. Just now i truly understand how actually good his character is. That edit really opened my eyes for me, and maybe more.
Dude you really hit the nail on the head! We really do need a real SuperMAN back!
A video telling that the snyder version is a bad superman while the movie theme glorifies superman, i also think the snyder version could be a lot better but Zimmer's work in those movies is so good that im scared the next superman theme wont be enough
My dad is a huge Superman fan. We lost my Grandpa in 2019 a little before Father's Day. On Father's day I baught the Red And Blue graphic novel for my dad and I book marked those 4 pages because I knew that my dad needed someone encouragement. Since that day he reads those pages of the book every Father's day.
On that 90s Superman show Lois And Clark, he once said to Lois, who I think just found out Clark was Superman, that "Clark Kent is who I am, Superman is what I can do."
I could not watch this without tearing up.
are you strongest because you are clark or are you clark because you are the strongest
shoutout gojo
The best video about Superman I've ever seen, because you truly understand the character and explain it so beautifully. Thank you, and long live the man of tomorrow!
thank you so much
I am hopeful that Superman Legacy will show us why Superman is the symbol of hope and James Gunn seems to understand Superman's role as a whole in the whole DCU.
same, I fully trust gunn... what he did with the guardians films was utter perfection. I am confident he can do superman justice
I always thought Allstar was the best depiction of him.
The confrontation with Lex at the end is perfect, it sums up why they're perfect foils of each other.
They're both people with gifts that mark them a super in some respect. But Lex is so caught up in his own superiority and need to prove that to the rest of the world, that he couldn't get out of his own way long enough to do anything that mattered. Whereas Kal see's the value in everything and commits himself to the service of others, because that's what matters.
Red from Oberly Sarcastic Productions made a Trope Talk on Grimdark that is relevant to this video. In it, she talks about optimism and pessimism at a universal scale; optimism says that humanity can become better, and pessimism says it can never. She says that optimism will always have it hear because it can and has been at least improved.
Superman is _the_ optimist and only stops being it when a writer is trying to make a point, one made when he kills. Almost every universe with a Superman that kills has no “good guy” because of it.
He’s a super man. What any man with sense might aspire to be.
Oh god, my physical copy of this issue is one of my most prized possesions. All short stories were so good but of course, Generations is just so special.
That's what I never liked about the media's portrayal, emphasizing his strength over his character and caring guardian personality. Superman's not out for collateral damage but to go through every step imaginable to avoid conflict and maintain the planet for which he holds dear. He's not just Superman but a super citizen that's looking out for his neighbors by and large
I genuinely got close to tearing up on that last one. We need more of this super man.
This is the true Legacy of Superman. This is what I want from Superman: Legacy
Oh man seeing those panels of Superman made me cry 🥺
Great video man. Made me happy
I saw this exact panel in a starman edit video. And I was just dumbfounded. This is the reason why I love supes and want to be more like him.
Thanks for sharing this, truly excellent content!

One of the best YT vids around about Supe. You nailed it! Congrats!
Thank you for this video. You made me tear up a bit man❤
The very best Superman stories are always about his 𝑑𝑒𝑐𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑦 and his ℎ𝑢𝑚𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦. I wish more writers understood that!
I am extremely hopeful that James Gunn will give us possibly the best take on Superman as Gunn has proven to have a deep love of this character since childhood and has expressed how much the character means to him and how this film essentially will be about the true power of empathy and compassion in an otherwise uncaring, cynical world, which is everything Ive always wanted in a Superman movie
From the art, I could tell right away that the last story was by Daniel Warren Johnson. He has such a powerful grasp on love and family in his stories. The connection and strength that comes from the love of those you're closest to. D Dubs really gets that with Superman, it's absolutely beautiful.
I need the music put in this video in a playlist cause this is so fitting

Great video, appreciate you sharing it!
This is the reason why real Superman Fans should write about Clark. Superman fans would understand him better than anyone.
Beautiful video man. I for the longest time saw Superman as someone who was great but not as deep as characters like Batman or Spider-Man. Now I know that not only is he a very deep character. But probably one of the most important for all of us to recognize in our lifetime.
He’s an alien but he is the most human. He could run the show at any time. Clark is the kid that grew up on a farm with salt of the earth people. His moral compass is dead on. Earth is his home too and he truly cares and loves people.
A great video. Here's to great Superman stories.
thank you
