Actually, it was Althea Gibson who was the first African American Athlete to cross over into international tennis. She won Wimbledon, The U.S. Open, and The French Open, and was about 6 feet tall. She paved the way for many athletes of color back in the 1950s in a segregated America. There were no endorsement deals back then.
She hasn't change a bit in 2019.... Beautiful girl!

I think the American media need to BACK OFF and let Sloane develop at her own pace. The USTA and the American media are so hungry for a young female champion that they are putting so much pressure on Sloane which is WRONG! Sloane is good, I think this girl can be top 10 for sure in terms of talent. But I think Sloane needs to play smaller events and LEARN how to win. Sloane still has not won a WTA tour title yet people seem to forget this. She needs to built her way to the top she's good.

Mate, she's only 20. Yet she is ranked no.16 out of 1 million+ people, and has defeated former Number 1s. Just because she is not quite at the level the Williams Sisters or Sharapova were at her age doesn't mean she's 'nothing'.
And actually, but being one of the WTA's main spokespeople in the locker room, Serena is actually more professional than you think. Just because Serena isn't a fake person and true to her roots doesn't mean she's then so "ghetto."

Sloane has a bright future ahead of her if she stays healthy and keeps improving. However, all the comments about Serena are sad. For over a decade her and her sister has kept America relevant in women's tennis and we thank her with insults and slander. And when it comes to her being "arrogant", I object. I doubt she acts like she's above anyone, considering how hard she had to work to be where she is today. It just seems as if her competitiveness far exceeds some of her piers.
