Reminds me of something Sharapova said: "I'm not the next anyone, I'm the first Maria Sharapova."
Andres Porras nobody would care if the William sisters retire.I cant
Wait for that
Jerry Smith their not my weak women cause they don't belong to me
True. She said that because she was tired of people comparing her to Anna Kournikova.
I'd miss Sharapova. She has a fun playstyle. But sadly after injury trouble she's just not that good anymore because her serve turned into a weakness.
i'm the first h4rder10
"I told my mom that I wanted to play tennis and wanna be number one and she said ok".. Yeah quiet easy..
Fast forward to 2020 and I read that highest rank to day is 993...
Never even heard of her
I hope she doesn't copy everything about Maria , the grunting was terrible , for tennis
Broke her wrist twice, so it set her back
What happened then..its 2018! Her athleticism was incredible for age then. Hope she makes it eventually, some players' careers dont really get going til they are in their mid 20's. All the best Maria.
Impossible. Just one Sharapova in the world.
Marcos Pérez Medellín your absolutely right dear ...
Her mother's name is Yelena Sharapova so is not only Sharapova in the world.
@@amrutajade8141 Her mother's name is Yelena Sharapova so he doesn't know much.
2021 update. Changed her name to Maria Genovese and currently plays tennis at the Georgia Gwinnett College.
Really??
Although she played NAIA, she ended up quite successful at that. While the dream of becoming a world #1 wasn't in the cards, she got a college education and got to play four years of college tennis. Not bad, it certainly could have been worse!
For the vast majority of athletes, 12 years old is simply too young to predict where they will be at 18 or 25. Physical development, introduction to the "real world," shifting priorities...so much goes on between 12 and 20. Anyway, a decade on, it seems that tennis didn't treat this girl too badly, at least in some ways.
Someone commented she is nowhere at 17 and by this age Maria Sharapova had already won a slam. It's true but the days of teenagers winning Grand Slams are gone. Tennis is a much more competitive sport nowadays. Sharapova winning the US Open in 2006 was the last time a teen won a Grand Slam. Currently there are only 5 teens in the top 100 and they are all 19 years old. The best ranked is Russia's Daria Kasatkina at 25. The best ranked 17-year-old is USA's Catherine Bellis, ranked 120. Sharapova's precocity should not to be expected from anyone. Given that, one should always be cautious with these "future stars". Many great junior players were not great adult players and many great adult players were not great junior players.
You're forgetting that female Tennis is currently at a shit level where everyone can upset everyone because the level of play from the top players isn't that high.
She has never made it in the top 800 because she got sent back to back to Kazakhstan because they did not have a green card or visa.
Daniel Sagatelian how do you know
@@DilonWilon she stopped playing ITF in 2017
Not true. According to Herald Tribune, she was 89 in the world at 14, but had two wrist surgeries and unable to play for for two years. She still lives in Bradenton and tried to make a comeback. No longer with Bolletery Academy. Was never deported.
@@oliviaaybar4602 can you verify it?
@@oliviaaybar4602 career high was 993. got deported.
She seems determined & very hard working. I'm glad she wants to be her own person. It's only good to be the next Maria if there isn't a next Serena in the playing circuit. Like Maria though, she'll have more endorsements because of her looks, than most her peers would. That's the reason Under Armor is already capitalizing on her looks, and not her personality like that sales lady in the video claims. She does have a great physique for her age, so I see a future Grand Slams contender here.
Nonsense. There are lots of WTA players hotter than Maria who don't get the endorsements. She gets the endorsements first and foremost because she's one of the best female players to ever play the game.
10:16 You know her brother can never bring home any of his friends to meet his mom.
Is she from Argentina? She is very arrogant on her comments about Sharapova. She needs to stop dreaming, be humble and open to learn from Sharapova, Ivanovic, Halep etc... What a character.
She is from Kazakistan (idk how to spell man)
She was not arrogant
@Antonio: Maria Shishkina was not being arrogant, but showing a LOT of self-confidence. And you absolutely need to believe in yourself 1000% and have lots of talent to get to the top. Another thing: she is not dreaming, but working very hard to get closer to her objectives in tennis....
Did you watch and really listen to what they and she said?... probably not cause you had your mind set up from the beginning. They said she's from Kazakhstan. That she's been compared to a young Sharapova for whom she has a lot of RESPECT but she needs to focus on herself to become a good player which is true. Or she should be focusing on other player? ?.. Of course you were more preoccupied on been judgemental.
There's nothing wrong to have self confidence. As we can see, she's working hard for it and she deserves it.
Good luck to this girl!
Antonio Moya She was born in Kazakhstan (I'm from here too) :D
She looks very mature and acts like a responsible adult.
I used to watch this every Saturday morning
Great videos, I learned a lot from it.
It's so weird how he said hi baby you look good very good that's so weird
I would be a prodigy too if my parents enrolled me at one of the best tennis academies when I was young too 😂
That's not how it works...
nikkijam66 a prodigy is someone that shows insane innate talent for something. A prodigy Is born but not made, but still must work to be a top player.
@@quinn172 yes just like i'm a prodigy at watching youtube.
Could say the same about any sport
that’s not how it works..
Sharapova was 14 years old when she reached AO junior final. and 17 winning Wimbledon. Shishkina turns 17 in july this year. May be she is a late bloomer.
Although u gotta give it to her, she may be arrogant but she is talented.
She is not aroggant!
見るアッシャー I think she just spiced it up for the Tv. She’s probably less confident in real life. Idk
Maria is AWESOME,GORGEOUS & STRONG
Next sharapova? As if. By 15, nearly 16 ( like this girl is) sharapova was already rapidly climbing into the top 200 and had already played in Indian wells. This girl recently lost to someone in an ITF event ranked barely inside the top 500.
JointheConversation One year later and she is 950 something in WTA.
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
9:38-10:11 is ASMR all day! :)
6:05 close your eyes
Ahahahah wow
why?
lolol
Karma lol
scary dude. some me too there
she is absolutely gorgeous
Good Luck your going to make it Kid Best of Luck
I never heard of Maria before, but since I am a tennis nut and watch every match I can, I will definitely see a lot of her 5 years from now. You have a great game.
What about now ahha?
@@sophiwithAN_a loooool
She's well spoken for such a youngster, seems ahead of her time.
Maria Genovese is at Georgia Gwinnett College.
I'm here in 2020 and there is no information about her since 2016.. What happened to her? Too much recognition and exposure too early is usually a curse
Вперед и только вперед, Маша!!! Ты будешь первой!!!
where is she now? haven't seen her in junior grand slams
never made it
she now goes by the name Maria Genovese and plays college tennis
I love her hair!
Awwww she’s sooo amazing?!!!
She speaks well and seems affable quite endearing
I hope she doesn't get tired.
Rich kid in a rich family. But In all fairness... Good luck
There are lots of rich people, some of them even earned it!
she got deported bc she didn’t have a green card
Claire Elizabeth she didn’t get deported just sent back
Sasha ohhh
Where is she now?
Wow she's so lucky
Any update on 2020?
she havent played any rated match for 3 years now:D
She quit tennis in 2017. She was 766th in the world in 2015 and 1102 in 2016.
She didn't quit. She's been playing college tennis and has been doing pretty well in ITAs. Who knows if she will try the pros again once her college career is over.
Incredible talent at 12. Hope she make a career for herself in tennis.
mate this vid was 10 yrs ago
Cant wait to see her go pro
Wow! Keep it up!:0)
+The Necrocast Musician I understand what you're saying about her not being succesful however you cant judge as yet because many tennis players mature at later ages. Just look at Stanislas Wawrinka. In addition to this she has suffered 2 wrist injuries in 2014 and has only just been making a comeback. I am not saying that she will be a good player however I think that it is too late to write her off just yet.
10:55 I - dont - think - so.
??
I love her necklace!
her itf ranking now is 649
1102
yeah that was like 4 months ago
So good
So many prodigy's, but so little make it into professional leagues
9:34 JUGGLING THE BALLS!
lol
Arrogance never wins anytning
The same thing for Sascha Zverev in GS
@yasinesammuod I think it isn’t arrogance it’s also confidence
And rafa???
This video is 5 years old already. She would be 17 now. Does she even still play competitive tennis, because I've never heard of her. Maybe she'll be the next Anna Kournikova, but not the next Maria Sharapova.
stay humble sweetheart. good luck
Good luck maria 😃
Theyre both pretty.
Awesome,
Where is she?
She looks very very strong !
It’s 2018 June anyone know what Maria is doing now ?
She is playing for Tyler Junior College. She is known as Maria Genovese now. www.apacheathletics.com/roster/13/9/4997.php
It's sad that she's had to change her name. Must have been under a lot of pressure. She was too young to have so much media attention.
Hope someday she could be a future in Womens Tennis
She won’t. She is 22 already and hasn’t played competitive tennis for 3 years. Her highest ranking was #933 in the world.
Let's hope that similarity
DO NOT put pressure on this very talented tennis player. Let her continue to evolve on her way and wait to see. And it doesn't need to be an immediate future. Let it (her) be and let's see what happens.
What about other kids who want to be no.1 we dont have the money to go to these tennis academy's 😡
I agree with you, I really wanna be a good tennis player. But with all these kids who go to those expensive schools it's almost impossible
+ReisgidsBoB I understand and it's so hard to try and get noticed 😢
Ik bro I feel u
+Mik3 ta thanks 😀🎾
LOL nice excuse. Anything to avoid the fact that you don't have talent, right? Francis Tiafoe is an 18 year old son of an immigrant. His dad worked as a janitor and he lived in a tiny studio with his dad and brother. He had less than you, but guess what? He's the next promising US tennis star. He's already a pro and famous players have already come out saying he is going to be the next star. Nadal invited him to be his training partner, that's how good he is. Stop making excuses. If you really had the drive you would be practicing tennis instead of bitching on the internet.
His father is a boxer, just as Aggasi's is. Just another similarity. Definitely one of the next champions. Can't wait to see her raise championship trophies in the near future. Go Shishkina!
+theUroshman She is 17 years old now and is ranked 1102.
Well, that's just too bad. I don't know what happened. She was such a promising young tennis player.
Nobody of international level heard of Raducanu and then came US Open. Pow ! Now the whole world know who Emma Raducanu is.
SERENA WILLIAMS IS THE BEST EVER,33 AND # 1 GO USA!!!
Margaret Court has 25 slams.
***** racista
Vos poh, y sí, lo soy y..?
She almost died when she had blood clots in both her lungs.Probably caused by the side effects of the legal performing enhancing supplements that she's been taking most of her career. And she's not the only athlete taking these supplements.
I wouldn’t want to be called the next sharapova.
10:26 looks like young federer on the wall o_O
MUUUUUACK BELLA Y TALENTOSA AMO EL TENIS SALUDOS DE CRISTIAN DE CHILE
Is she is the next Maria...There has to be a next Serena or Venus to test her.
Looking at how she lives it makes me look at my life and be thankful. I have at river to swim in, the side of the house to play against, and crazy family meals everynight. Chores to do everyday and can't forget fishing!
My life isn't money like hers and I can't get professional help in my tennis but I'm happy! I still need to work on my servers though...😙
How can she just turn up and say that she has a future star and she get into an academy wtf
wow this will be looong 8 years of waiting...
This young lady is very good - no doubt but I have seen a kid in Scotland that can hit the ball like that - she's 6 or 7
it was about 5 years ago... how is she now in the circuit?
where is she now
Somewhere
Still playing tennis
Probably still hanging out with her friends too
I play tennis and I want to be a professional so see you in Wimbledon
So, the great Ballterrier is again proven wrong ... time to hang it up Nick!
Is this an IMG ad?
4:32 onwards, kind of sleazy stuff!
Fascinating documentary. Obviously something serious has gone wrong since this was made as she has not progressed as was clearly expected. But she still has time. And we will see.
Kazakhstan has a good group of women tennis players, like shvedova Dita's,putintseva, danillina, voskoboeva.,, they have strength in depth
I don't think she have the tough life Sharapova had back then which I think helped her become who she is today.
athenstar10 exactly. She's just a spoiled rich kid that wants publicity and lots of money.
A 12 year old wearing patella knee straps on both legs makes me cringe :/
She's not playing anymore for 3 years. Sorry for her tennis career, but she can be a model, tv star or whatever...
wow, how many out the tennis student become number one for 30 years of coaching.
Poor girl has struggled this year. Only qualifying for 1 tournament out of the 13 she tried to qualify for and she lost in the 1st round in the only tournament she qualified for. Hopefully she turns it around!
The problem here is Bolletieri.....change that talented girl to another academy..Bolletieri is a Fiasco....
She's 12?! Even more impressive.
This is how crazy this actually is...if you had a single tennis coach that had players he coached that won 10 grand slams you would say...what a great coach!! But if he won 17 you would say this is one of the greatest tennis coaches of all time...ok...well NIck Bollettierri has coached and trained...and I mean trained players that have won 170 plus grand slams...greatest tennis coach in the history of the game forever...all time...case closed!!!
170 grand slams ... REALLY? He talks lot of bull lately tho.
how is this girl doing now?
That reminds me--Jeremy Irons needs to another movie :-)
ı love y
she looks like Chloe Moretz! i hope she achieve her dreams
Now she is 17
She has no trace of Russian accent...amazing...sounds All-American
looks like a star..but who knows the competition is very tough
my name is maria and i play tennis
She apparently now goes by the name Maria Genovese.
Maria went to my house like 10 times!
it says 14yr old but in the video they say 12?
www.heraldtribune.com/news/20160326/shishkina-picking-up-the-pieces She is turning 19 this year, had two wrist surgeries and had to miss two years of tennis.. she is trying to rise though!
