Nepalese in NYC. Brklyn in the house. Gang.
I've been to Kathmandu and I'm very familiar with Nepalese cuisine..Newari food is so diverse and there's a thousand different recipes.. Typically every day you eat dhal bhatt..Momo's, chicken sekuwa, aloo tama with timur chhop on the side and choila. Mitho!! Life is good...
Wow you lived a great life while in Nepal if you ate those everyday while you were here.
@@Chet22 thank you!!
I'm from nepal
Acura NSX ? What is that car ?
No doubt, Newari food must be great, but MOMO is Tibetan food, which came from Tibet, and later on, settled in the rest of the Himalayan region like Nepal and India. Wikipedia says so.
Not gonna lie he is correct that all the looks can be found in Nepal. Every look imaginable in the Asia continent can be found in Nepal, people will probably not believe that a person from the mountain region and terai region are from the same country since they'll look so vastly different. People that look like the typical Asian people and people that look like the typical Arabian/Indian people and everything in between can be found in Nepal. Nepal is a huge huge mix of cultures. Buddhism and Hinduism are almost intertwined together which I don't think anyone will see in any other country in the world.
This Nepali dude Iliad humble and explains it well.
We Nepalese foods are so underrated. Make this go viral !! 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
Basically a mix of other cultures foods
@@misslama99 Whilst Nepal does take heavy influences from its closest geographical companions such as India, China and Tibet. Momo, Dhaal, Lhaphing which is the spiffy rolled noodles, Indians starting using trays, and so much more. Your culture is based on everything other cultures do, just because its your culture stop being ignorant and ignoring the facts. Nobody says the mix of cultures is bad, its delicious but your just being ignorant.
@@misslama99 You have no idea. I love Nepali food, we ordered spicy sauced momo 3 weeks ago, with bread. I have no hate I'm just spitting facts. And yes some foods have originated from Nepal, a lot is from other cultures. Theres nothin wrong with it.
@@runa6507 it's embarassing because most of this cuisines originated before India and Nepal were declared as countries. You cannot decide who is influenced by whom because the people who migrated from present day India to rule present day Nepal years and years ago were just a people who were a part of the Indian subcontinent. There are indigenous groups in Nepal who share genes with Tibetans, Chinese and India. We did not copy or get influenced. It was just there, how do you know maybe the Indian dynasties that came to Nepal to rule did not start these cuisines? Do more research
@@rjb9239 it’s influenced...INFLUENCED by neighboring countries, I love Nepali food IM not saying anything bad about it.
Love from UK and Bangladesh, I have so many Nepalese friends , they are good and humble people
Sid dai seems dope. He should have his own youtube channel.

Sid did a very good job representing Nepal and the diverse culture plus the amazing foods Nepal has to offer. Thank you guys so much for this video ❤️

I have never had a momo before but I'm definitely going to make my way to try it this weekend!!! Thank you for exposing me to restaurants and cuisines Ive never tried in nyc!!
I've been to Kathmandu..Also try chicken sekuwa, choila served with chiura ( flattened rice) and aloo achar ( potato pickle).. Thukpa is really good too...For dessert see if you can find Lakhamari w/ icing..Any good Nepali restaurant will serve these..

fyi- Nepal has thousands of rivers and rivulets , so even if we’re a landlocked country we have numerous different kinds of fishes.
Most people don't eat fish often. People from terai eat it more.
I'm from nepal and know the rivers name. It has worlds higest mountain
True but Many of Us Nepalese don't actually eat fish...
Because Nepal has Himalaya ...hills ...highlands and inner Terai ....many originated rivers

This is an exceptional video I learned so much I really appreciate your commitment to educating us all about different cultures and foods from around the world. I wish all people would allow food to be a bridge for learning about our brothers from another motherland this world could be a beautiful better place!!! 50ish African American grandma speaking here
So glad to see Nepali Food finally . I have been watching you guys since 5 years now and I think this is the second time I think you guys had Nepali food in your channel. Please come to London I want to take you guys to all the other tribal nepalese food restaurants!! Lots of love from London
That was a great episode. Good job to Sid for being such a great sport, putting Nepal on the map, providing good details and also to the Fung bros for, not only trying new foods, but also learning and understanding how rich and diverse Nepal is. Much love 🙌🏽👍🏽
I love Nepal🇳🇵 from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Love from Nepal Brother❤️
Yup
I love Bangladesh food especially the fish dishes ❤❤
As a Newar, I love people enjoying our food. Nepali food and culture is super underrated. Even when I did a DNA test it showed China and Burma and some Indian percentages but there was no Nepali linkage at all when in fact people from my culture have been there in Nepal for a long time and same goes to other ethinicties like the Limbu people.
Newas were anoriginals civilized by indians from bihar. So the high castes of newas all came from india and brought food, culture, administration and civilization with them.
Most newas are love childs of these high caste hindus and native women.
@@CoronaVirus-fu3zl who are the native women?
These videos have become a staple for me now. On the top of my list of videos I will be using when traveling is do-able again.
I can live on momo for rest of my life until and unless my mommy calls me to have a plate of daal bhaat....
cuz daal bhaat power 24 hour❤️❤️..

Yes by then your aunt will be calling u for a plate of salad 🤣
Dhal bhat is better than momo.
Now, that was a very interesting take on Nepalese people & their origins. Nice touch apart from the food. A few different dishes worth trying! Thanks, Guys
This Nepali Guy has Done his homework, i can buy him beers !! And give him treat !! Good job man
The happiness you get when the Fung Bros try your country’s cuisine! ☺️☺️ I think Sid really did a good job showing you a lot of the cuisines we have in Nepal :)
I love that this is not just about food and the place it's from. What's important is that they respected the food it's originated from, doing research, asking the owners, basically educating people about the culture and honestly learned so much from this!💞💞 love from NE India!!!💕
This was true representation and informative about Nepal
NGL but I thought all three of you were Nepali gurung, magars or sherpas.
When I first saw him, I thought Sid was a Newar. He’s a mix of Gurung and Brahmin so I wasn’t exactly that off.
Ikr 😂
wtf about limbu
The chinese boys look more Gurung than the Nepali guy. lol joking. The Nepali guy looks chettri or newar. But having said that, the guy kinda looks like my uncle who is Gurung but I know for a fact that we have some bahun/ chettri blood in us (at least 10- 15%) because of the way we look.
@@subashgrg4666 I fr thought he was chhetri or like newar. Turns out he is a mix of bahun and Gurung

Loved this. Am from southeast asia and i travelled to nepal with my friends couple of years ago, i remembered having amazing dhal bhaat that really does power u thru the day. And also yak milk/cheese samosas, and momos, and amazing hot tea...walking thru Kathmandu was like walking thru a whole new world. And there was a certain kind of puffed bread that we had alot in tea houses while hiking up poon hill -- it was delicious!

Also, Fung Bros! Not sure if you saw my video reacting to your last video, but just wanted to say thanks for that one
15:46 Nepalese ppl overseas r more bonding n unity than they r in Nepal actually. In foreign land we're Nepalese first then Gurung Magar Bahun Newar Sherpa madhesi on second.
True
I think it's like that everywhere because the moment u step in foreign land there's culture shock due to which u tend to stick around people with similar culture
@@amankc7226 That's right.
The sherpas are Tibetan
@@raptors8620 they have Tibetan ancestry but they are Nepalese. Using that logic we all are African
This was great to watch and learn from!
Making me miss the selection at the Himalayan buffet in the U District in Seattle. It had such a range from Himalayan/Tibetan/Nepalese food when they had the full buffet going. The folks that worked there always made sure to let us know where each dish was from and how best to enjoy it. Really miss them. I need to get back to Seattle.
Buffet cut corners, Yo. No full-on experience because they're cooking huge batches of food and the authenticity gets lost in the transition.
Mexican man here, took a trip to Harrisburg PA, where there is a big Nepali community there. Naturally I looked for a home-cooked meal there..omg dude the grinds were insane delicious. The spicy chili momo the Buffallo, the pork belly....
In Pennsylvania!!! Insane.
Love from bhutan to all my Nepalese brothers ♥️💯

Aye yo. Love the food. Love the culture. Love the history. This is the kind of video that makes it interesting- a unique blend of Tibetan, Indian and Chinese food.
Wow I felt like I learned so much about the culture. Thank you so much for sharing!
He is the best representer\ spokes person for Nepal and Nepalese food. Thank you brother🇳🇵
"traditional" beef momo! didn't see that coming haha
this guy not showing the real culture ha that's for sure nd that's true there is not anything called beef momo and the against the Santani dharma culture and santan dharma is like buddhism and Hinduism was both part of satya santani dharma but in somthing like 8.20 minute he says that there is no beef but don't known that's for sure this is not a Nepalese culture for sure
hya brother they were eating buffalo meat it was not cow brother but in USA either it's cow or buffalo they say it beef so misunderstanding spread peace. jay santan jay nepal.
@Momo-Mandu what's wrong with eating beef?
There are Non-Hindus in Nepal and they have no relationship with cows.
Now we Nepalese need to support non-Hindus for their rights to eat beef in Nepal.
We Nepalese need to request ex-King Gyanendra to advocate and support non-Hindus for their rights to eat beef in Nepal.
We must request Chef Santosh Shah to support non-Hindus for their rights to eat beef in Nepal.
We must allow non-Hindus to kill cows for food in Nepal.
We need to legalize cow meat in Nepal so Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and Kiratist can eat cow meat.
India is a role model for Nepal because India is truly a democratic country.
Out of 29 Indian states, 20 states prohibit cow slaughter but beef is legally and freely available in states like Bengal, Kerala, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura.
India is the largest beef market.
The United States is the largest producer of beef in the world followed by Brazil, the European Union, China, and India.
The United States is the largest consumer of beef in the world is followed by China and Brazil. India is in 6th place when it comes to consuming beef.
All Nepali people support to legalize slaughter of cows for food.
We are living in the year 2021 and not in 1921. There is no place for racism in Nepal.
This has to be the most interesting video I've seen from u it terms of the variety showed. All that food represents the fantastic diversity of human feelings merged with colors, flavors, smells...languages too. Culture in general, loved it 🤙

My mouth is watering watching yll eat breakfast at Dawa's 🤤 My favorite Nepali regional cuisine is Newa (indigenous people of Nepal, who traded with Tibet in ancient times and brought back momo from Tibet to Nepal as "momocha") for sure 👌 Nepali cuisine in general is a confluence of Tibetan & Indian flavors too with a fairly diverse range of ethnic specific cuisine variations too💛
Newa is not a tribe or ethnic people, it is a culture. So it is not indigenous but a mixture of indigenous and foreign.
Corona Virus It is not meant to be a disrespect to the lady but most Nepalis have no clue of their history. Among other things said are also that “mongoloid people came to Nepal during the mongol invasion”. Big Lol
Nepal is only a country created in 17 something. We have rich history that goes back 1000s of years. Our own unique history that belongs to each caste has been wiped or suppressed. I know I sound like some crazy man here but this is something I feel passionate about. I hope the Nepalese people of today from different caste realises this and researches more about their own culture
Basically what the European done to native Americans when is what happened to all indigenous groups by the Shahs/gurkhalis.
