    I have a bbso2b on my hellcat. It's a bit of a beast of a set up.

      After fitting a 36t non off set chain ring for those steep climbs.The resulting poor chain line chewed through my cassette and derailleur after a few hundred miles. The hell cat is waiting for new head races and cassette carrier for conversion back to a push iron.The BBS is now on a Voodoo Bizango.The geometry of the drop offs made this an easier build than the Hellcat.

    Are all carrera bottom brackets the same dimensions? Great informative buy the way.

    So the motor fit in the frame? Ive seen other people say it was tough and they had to grind.

    • @frankintegrity7996
      @frankintegrity7996  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes SRN the motor fits with no grinding.The only problem being which I neglected to mention is .The anti torque bracket that goes over the crank and bolts to the engine sits maybe 8mm away from the motor threaded fixing points.I did fit washers to remedy this.But the problem being then there was not enough thread left for fitting the crank cover cap.In the end I didn't fit the bracket.After 100km the motor is still in place and not moving.

      Hiya Christian sorry for the late reply. I think your questions are answered above in my reply to SRN. The motor was an easy fit apart from the torque bracket.My first youtube video so a little messy.I will re edit (loose my phone sat in my pocket shakey footage haha) and show the drop off clearances and measurements at the crank. The battery bracket also needed a hole drilling to line up with the bottle carrier mounting on the frame.

    What are the measurements of that battery? I'm converting my Carrera Hellcat but not sure what batteries will fit. Thanks

      Hiya Mark .Found a link to the kit.This has the dimensions.A very tight fit due to frame geometry.

    Can you still ride the bike when the battery runs out?

    • @frankintegrity7996
      @frankintegrity7996  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes you can still get home on no battery power Joao.But the motor does add a small amount of drag coupled with it's added weight along with the battery .Don't expect to be wearing the yellow jersey on The Tour de France mountain stages.😁

      It was over a year ago my friend when I purchased it from a German supplier. So I don't have the link any more, sorry.But the Bafang motor is available from many outlets.How ever do check the authenticity of the battery.If it is too good a price to be true.Then it is probably best avoided .The motor and battery is now on a new build.( See below for my new build link) But it still going strong after 2000km.This is the kit to the one i purchased is a BBS02b 36v 500w .Check locally via ebay or Alibaba type sites.But a word of caution.The motor may be legitimate.But a too good to be true price on a 36v battery is probably just that.Expext 200+$£e for a quality battery pack.

    What's the chain line like?

    • @frankintegrity7996
      @frankintegrity7996  Před rokem

      Hiya Densel.Using the Bafang off set chain ring 44t I had no issues after some derailleur adjustments. How ever using the bike for serious off road climbing I fitted a 36t with no off set and a 9 speed derailleur. Great for steep hill climbs .But the way off chain line eventually chewed up my cassette.If you can be bothered check out my latest build on a Voodoo 29er. The biggest draw back of the Bafang IMO is chain line on any other chain ring other than the off set Bafang or Lekkie 42t+ options.If you are a gentle trail or road user and stick to the original cassette derailleur of the Carrera you will have a fast capable machine. If you want to climb those seriously steep muddy inclines and need a lower gear ratio I wouldn't recommend this model of bike. The chain line chewed up my derailleur and cassette when I opted for a more off road set up.
