    Great vid. I'm starting a Carrera E-bike conversion soon, also from the same suppplier as you (KirbE-Bikes)
    Just one thing, did you have to specify the rim type? I want the same wheel rim as you have here (the black disc-only rim), NOT the flat-sided silver rim that I've seen elsewhere.
    Did you receive this disc rim without paying extra? Thanks :-)

    • @myvision197

      @@liamwhyte8100 overall it was pretty straight forward. There were issues including with the rear disc break...I needed to grind it down so it didn't rub against the hub motor as it was a too tite fit. Had to tune the gears again so they worked with the 9 speed hub the kit comes with plenty of videos on CZcams. Took the pedal assist sensor off after a while.

    Hi, great video! I'm looking to build one myself. Few questions if you don't mind me asking. What size wheel did you opt for is it 29inch? Also is the hub the 7 speed or 9 speed option? What size frame is the bike? Does the rim tape come in the kit? Cheers.....

    • @myvision197
      @myvision197  Před 4 lety +3

      Hi Neil, glad you enjoyed the video…Great idea you won't have any regrets. I went for the 27.5”-wheel size as my original wheel was 27.5” and was a tight fit on the frame already. I did however put a 2.35" wide tyre on it. I also decided to go for the MTX39 rim as I was planning on doing a fair bit of off-roading. My bicycle was 9 speed and I wanted to keep the gears, so went for the 9-speed cassette looking back it wasn't necessary, as most the time I am only using high gears but its more for personal preference and having the ability to use low end gears if needed, however I did need to retune the gears to the new cassette spacing. My bike is a Carrera Vulcan XL (22") for more info you can check Halfords website as they still sell it. Rim tape does not come with the kit however, I think I paid around £3 on eBay. Any other questions let me know.

      @planetpayney Před 4 lety +1

      @@myvision197 Thanks for the reply and the info I really appreciate it. Been looking at the website to purchase a kit. Am I right in thinking you took your 9 speed cassette off your vulcan and put it on the motor hub yourself? It looks like the 7 speed comes with one fitted and the 9 speed is a hub you slide your own cassette on? Yeah I need to get a new bike basically my 8 year old carbon hardtail is not suitable for this kit. So im going to sell it to put money towards a kit. Only thing I'm concerned about now is the frame I'm 5'8 my current hardtail is a medium. Ive made a mock up of the battery and that fits but not much room for anything else. So will probably have to get a large at least to get stuff to fit it looks like you have a bit of room to spare with your xl frame?! Did you buy the xl bike for the kit to fit? Are you tall?! The battery slides up off its mount so guess you would need room to accommodate that too. I might go for something 29er and use a 27.5 motor hub to drop the height a little. Have you taken it out when the weather is a bit wet? Does it stand up to a splash or a quick downpour? Thanks again for the tips and the info 😀 👍

      @myvision197  Před 4 lety +1

      @@planetpayney If you get it with the 9 speed cassette upgrade it comes with it, no need to install your own. No i already owned the bike before. Yes that sounds like a great idea. I have taken it out in light rain but wouldn't take it in heavy rain as the battery is pretty exposed, good luck with your project :D.

    How well does that motor fit into the dropouts. Most modern bicycle dropouts are quite flimsy compared to old school dropouts, especially horizontal fixie dropouts. Do you have any trouble with the wheel staying in properly, obviously you have used a torque arm, I have 2 ebikes, a fixie ebike that has a steel frame so the motor is rock solid and an ebike that was originally an ebike that i have customised with my own motor and functions like regen braking cruise control etc. So that ebike is fine too, but want a more modern bicycle with kit fitted like yours but am worried about the flimsy dropouts being an issue??

    • @myvision197
