Project Brutality is an amazing gameplay mod created by pa1nki113r, and it's one of my favorite Doom gameplay mods I've played. It is like Brutal Doom, but with expanded arsenal and bestiary, and upgrades are available for some of the weapons to make them even more useful, such as a drum upgrade for the auto shotgun or powerful Dragon's Breath shells for the regular shotgun. Most of the weapons have the weapon special which allows for the weapons to alternate different attacks, such as changing ammo types or firing rates. Like Brutal Doom, you can throw grenades at a mob of enemies, but you can also set proximity mines to set up traps against enemies. Project Brutality has a dynamic spawn system in default, meaning that later levels will spawn higher tier weapons and enemies, making this mod challenging to play particularly on 32-map megawads.
Project Brutality was originally released as an expansion of Brutal Doom, then it has been released as a standalone mod based on Brutal Doom v20b, and it further continues its gameplay expansion that Doom fans have wanted. Doom came out in 93 I was 8 meaning I may see doom at 60 year anniversary now if nuclear war is not the flavor then should be interesting .

Seeing a lot of inspired WADs from either other Doom WADs or games. I swear I saw an Ashes Afterglow map in there, and of course, the Duke Nukem 3D WADs (like Hollywood Holocaust) are unmistakable! Noice!

I guess there's so many amazing Boomer Shooters now that it shouldn't surprise me that occasionally one gets lost in the sauce, no matter how worthy.
What sort of weird hybrid engine is this running on? One of the Quake engines?
It looks like the strangest combination of 2D and 3D...some things look like old school 2D objects with textures, and some things, like the fireballs being thrown at the player look amazing when their path is interrupted by a railing or something.
Part of the fireball dissipates, but the rest keeps heading forward.
Pretty cool effect.
And ohmygawd - the gibs be flying so gloriously! Gibs everywhere!!

I particularly like the hand to hand combat. Quite visceral.
Watching the Pinkies roll into a room full of scientists to attack and eat them was a nice touch.
There's a level of interaction in this game that seems beyond a Doom engine's capabilities.

Cuz dayum - our host certainly knows the game quite well. Always seeming to be in position to wreck the enemies ahead. Rarely taking any sort of damage, switching weapons seamlessly.
Very nice economy of movement and a nice balance of ammo conservation and gleeful gibbing.
Just good stuff all the way around.

It might take me a few visits to get through the whole thing, cuz it looks like our host burns through the entire game, and there's a lot of levels.

Oh - LOL at the raising of the middle finger to the baddies after kicking one into a spinning fan blade.
That level of interaction _(despite the fact that the scene was set up carefully when the level was built)_ just adds a nice layer of fun that surprised me.
They don't have to put little scenes like that in the game. A lot of people might just shoot the imp, or miss it altogether.
That they do just makes me happy. 😄

You haven't heard of it because is not a game on itself but a Combination of multiple mods working on a Sourceport of 1993's Doom called "GZDoom".
Looks so good because each Mod you see here have decades of work and dozens of updates behind them, both graphical, gameplay and performance wise by many modders. Same goes for the engine it runs on.

@@asplla You have the links to the two mods used on this video on the video description. Other two things you have to download are the engine "GZDoom" and "ZDoom Launcher" which is just as the name says a launcher to make it easier. Both are free and both you just have to google their names to find it.
@@asplla You've probably done it by now but google GZ Doom - you can download the engine from there any they have a good 'how to' guide to get you going.
First of all, is not a game, is a mod, although this mod just uses a tiny little fraction of the original Doom assets to work to the point that it simply just work like a different game.
The engine it runs of it's called GZDoom and said engine has evolved above the simple 2.5D capabilities of the original Doom to the point that you can actually use 3D models in this engine and 3D environments as well.
It's more akin to being a hybrid of Quake engine, rather than Build one.

Looks good, a drawback I see is that the player can always shoot from the door. Enemies never get a chance to reach him, and there's no surprise factor. Enemies are always in a convenient place to get killed
I have been playing Extermination Day for a long time,
so this seems like a piece of cake for me to kill them.
Just got done playing through this mega wad with the new project brutality 0.1.0 and it's fucking insane. Those later levels are well designed but are an absolute slog on UV.

I just played through this level and the centaur barons have been replaced by the hellfire types... they do extreme damage, have aoe etc
Ive found a few youtube videos from a few years ago, about how to get brutal 3.0 running. I run into trouble at various steps. A link to an up-to-date, step by step, walkthrough on how to get this running on Widows 11 would be much appriciated.
2 quad barrels at half blast can do full blast twice without recoil damage. Great for most bigger demon, even belphegor.
Shooting one or two quad barrels are more ammo efficient, and I can even headshot a Baron of Hell with just one shell.
I did like using Full Blast against the Belphegors because it feels very satisfying, and there are plenty of shotgun shells.
@@DawnHibikiMan and a Half is pretty chill, though. Try it on 12/10 with fast monsters enabled, see if you don't get a new appreciation for full blast... 😉

This looks like a Doom total conversion mod running on the Build (Duke Nukem 3D) engine
Looking good as always, but one thing that always bothers me is they added in scientist zombies but not any marine zombies, could retexture some of the zombie guys into green armor marines. Also, werent there ally marines in this wad?
Project Brutality doesn't have the allie marines so adding them into the wad would just result in the marine standing still with a broken ai.
Former humans and sergeants are those former marines, read original manual. Armor just got dirty and bloody

Nice video, but please can you do a tutorial on how to install project brutality and everything you showed up here, because i download it and is its a folder. I select the folder with Doom launcher but nothing happens, and i don't find any PK3 files on said folder to run it. I do apologize for my bad English, but it is not my main language. Thank you in advance. Please keep on doing great Doom content like this.
You can also run the Project Brutality zip file like you
do with the PK3 file. The ZIP file is the same as PK3.

My PB 3.0 configuration is mostly default except to turn off texture filtering.

What engine is this on? I keep getting memory leaks trying to run the Vulkan version on GZDoom. Might just be running an older version.
GZDoom v4.11.3. You should be using the latest version of GZDoom if you haven't already.
The only annoying thing were those tortured marines in last few levels. So loud they overcried guns.
I installed the extermination day file that you linked and I have project brutality installed as well as gzdoom, the problem is when i launch the ED file it still runs as classic doom sprites but it's launching the proper ED level 1 map at 0:21. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
I think you loaded Extermination Day after Project Brutality, which is why it still runs
classic doom sprites. I'd say load Extermination Day first, then load Project Brutality.

Could you tell me how to enable reloading on this? I spent two hours last night getting this to work, and I succeeded, but I spent thirty bloodyt minutes trying to figure out how to assign a reload key with no success.
Have you clicked Options > Customize Controls > Action?
There's a Weapon Reload section key that you can assign.

No, you would have to press the weapon special button to select those fire types.

It's too colorful to be in Classic Doom. It's more fitting
in Project Brutality because it has a variety of content.

i downloaded this but when i pair it with GZ Doom, it loads in the campaign but the game plays like vanilla doom, any idea how to get this to run properly?

Have you used the latest version of GZDoom? Also, load EDAY Vanilla first before you load Project Brutality.

@@nikobellic42Are you using ZDL or BAT file to run GZDoom? You have to download the ZDL if you haven't already. Then load both EDAY Vanilla, then Project Brutality before you run GZDoom.

Load Brutal Doom "Hell on Earth" map pack first, then Project Brutality.
You need to have a ZDL program in order to run these mods for Doom.
@@DawnHibiki What is a ZDL? I have GZDoom, which normally I would drag the Project Brutality Mod directly onto to launch. But the Extermination Day map pack is standalone, it launches itself with basically its own version of Brutal Doom.

The animations of weapons, actions, shooting, first person animations are simply amazing. But the level design, environment design, and opponents, unfortunately, are not far from the classics.

I'm dissappointed in this build. Sure it has more stuff than the previous ones, but I really hate how they tweaked the weapons into no longer being hitscan and how the regular shotgun has less accuracy. I'm sticking to the older builds.

Yea, they need to be nerfed, especially the Quad Shotgun
which only takes one shell to headshot the Baron of Hell.
Turn up the difficulty, and think about turning on Chaotic Random spawns. When you start getting endgame-tier enemy variants in map01, guns don't feel OP any more.
@@DawnHibikione shell? Maybe one quad shot, then yes. Also that's just simple baron of hell, when there are stronger and danger versions of it in the mod.

They removed the third-person fatalities because they were too similar to fatalities in it's fork Brutal Doom.
Plus, they take too long. So the developers have decided to replace them with quick first person glory kills.

When do the imps get the 'brutality upgrade'? one fireball should reduce the player character to a screaming burning pile of magma and charred remains.
Right now the imps are just helpless bags of meat hobbling on rhematic legs.
Imps can climb on walls, jump on player and sometimes move very fast. Green imps deal huge damage and, I think, kill your armor fast. Dark imps can have homing projectiles or strong charged projectiles. Maybe author just playing on not so high difficulty, because on last every enemy become a challenge, as they strafe crazy from your shots

Apparently, the makers of the new versions of Project Brutality think that
friendly marines are "useless", so they've restored the Partial Invincibility
spheres while these 'grey' marines are from the Extermination Day itself.

Despite the gameplay of its graphics and the animation is what I meant to say; “It feels like a port” (Ik it’s used on pc, not to be rude or anything. it’s just my opinions on something that is felt to be played on the Wii or 360).

Just adding that this version is NOT the same as the Vanilla one. And it seems to have a bug in that you cannot exit Map 10 as the portal never activates.

how do you load multiple addons when you go to play project brutality? i have to either play PB with the original doom levels or the EDay mod with the original doom weapons

@@DawnHibiki I tried that after I couldn’t drag and drop on gzdoom but when I try to load zdl with the 3 mods I get a notification saying doom has crashed :(

@@DawnHibiki i just downloaded everything last night and followed instructions on how to install/run them. Im trying again now, but having no luck again, think i might just have to suffice with watching videos instead of playing
If maybe you could make an up to date video on how to get this to launch, because everything i read or watch about this is years old, I would happily send you some money, because im dying to play this and am really bummed out :(
