    Great video thanks!
    My recommendation is to buy the best KEF speakers you can because they usually have good sound dispersion
    + an AVR that has 2+ independent subwoofer outputs so you can set delays correctly
    + the best SVS subwoofer you can afford.
    Later, buy another identical subwoofer to have a good bass response across a big seating area 😎

    Watch out for sensitivity of Klipsch - it is measured differently than other speaker manufacturers do. So, the comparable sensitivity is not as high as Klipsch states.

I find for @ my comfort level price this is the Ultimate Home Theater Music lover system. This replaces my Very High End Snell system that I had for many years and if you know their history they give fine music and all around sound. My SVS system does surpass the Snell's sound which made me a very satisfied SVS advocate and customer. I think more Home Theater

    Is there an advantage for systems with different impedance ratings? For instance, I suspect an 8ohm speaker would have less white noise than the 4ohms because I assume it takes more power to get sound from an 8ohm setup. The noise floor might get through the 4ohms setup whereas not as much in the 8ohm setup. But that MY theory and I have nothing to back that up. Can you clarify why different impedance ratings would or would not be preferable?

    I just switched to Costco’s Onkyo tx nr6050 after to dead Denon 760. Within the last year. I was thinking of getting these speakers which are on sale to replace my 7.1 Polk speakers I bought in 2006. I know if I hook up the upward firing speakers I loose my back surround sound speakers. Which I enjoy. My question is there a way to have those still plugged in along with the upward speakers, and just change the settings to either the newer Dolby speakers or the back surround speakers. Depending on the content I am watching? And frankly right now I have much more content 7.1 movies than the newer speakers. Thanks for the info.

    Great video man. I'm kinda wrestling with this now. I have RSL CG23 LCR/CG3 surrounds. I'm thinking of moving up to the CG5 line but they are like 86 sensitivity so I'm also looking at higher sensitive speakers like the Ascend acoustics CMT 340s 92 db sensitivity. Then I started looking at the JBL Studio 570s which is 88 db sensitivity. I might be overthinking things with all this. I have a really great Parasound amp with plenty of power.

    • @TwoGuyzTech

    Very helpful video! Regarding speaker stand height, what's your opinion on the 'ideal' height (is there such a thing) - is it aligned with the conventional wisdom of tweeter height at ear level? I've watched a few videos and some suggest placing it higher than ear-level, and there's also a small minority that advocate for below ear level. I am looking at the Q150 speakers - and the manual for the Q150 suggests 18" - 24" (45-60cm) speaker stands - that seems awfully low and would be below ear level if I sit on my (or any conventional) couch. But the KEF designers/engineers surely must have put this in the manual for a reason? Does this mean they designed or voiced the Q150s in a way that aligns with 18" - 24" and therefore it would be prudent to strictly stick to getting stands within 18 - 24"? If not, should I go with 28" or 32" inch? 32" would be putting it at or just 1" above ear level I'd say, but given how conservative KEF were in their manual, I was wondering whether 28" would be a better choice too... Any advice here would be so helpful! Thank you. Any advice here would be so helpful! Thank you.

    • @TwoGuyzTech
      @TwoGuyzTech  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! We always recommend setting your speakers to ear level, with the exception of back surrounds - which you might want to put a little higher to pass the backs of any chairs etc. that could interfere with the sound. If you're not absolutely sure with the KEF recommendations for speaker height, we would say to try experimenting with both heights to find what sounds best to you. As long as the tweeters look like they're at ear level at a comfortable, reclined/seated position, and they sound good, that's probably your best bet. Hope this helps! :)

      Thank you so much for watching and for your support!! Unfortunately, we've never tried something like that but it does seem like a very cool idea. You certainly wouldn't need as much power in a smaller volume like a van, so a lower power receiver like the Yamaha TSR-700 which we just reviewed on our channel might fit the bill. Be sure to use a pure sine wave inverter rather than a regular/cheap 12v to 110v inverter to avoid any kind of weird distortion (cheap inverters don't make pure sine waves which can reak havoc on the sound quality from your receiver). Keep us posted on this project!! Sounds super cool man! 😀

    With the prices of some speakers these days, I'm wondering why people dont use pro audio speakers like used on stage.
    I am a pro musician and believe me when I say the sound is the most important thing to me.
    I guarantee you can get incredible sound for around 600. for your L/R speakers and another 6-800. for a sub and you would be able to entertain the entire neighborhood with the amount of volume you can get.

      Thanks for watching and we appreciate both of your guys' input! This is the exact reason why we always recommend people audition speakers BEFORE they buy. As reviewers we try to hold our reservations for/against certain brands until we actually review their products, which is why we didn't talk about either brand very long. But, that's also the beauty of having so many different companies making speakers - there's a speaker for everybody!

      Thanks for watching! We have a similar open-concept layout in our home and we're really happy with the Aperion Audio Novus speakers that we've reviewed in previous videos. Some speakers like the Novus 6T towers for front left and right, Novus 5C center channel and 5B bookshelves make for a really nice sounding set that don't take up a lot of room. We would probably add two Bravus 12D subwoofers to really get as much impact as possible, and maybe a few of their Clearus in-ceiling ATMOS speakers or A5 height modules if you don't want to cut holes in your ceiling. At this point depending on how many speakers you get and how much you're willing to spend on the receiver, you could get a mid-high level 9.2 or 11.2 channel ATMOS receiver from manufacturers like DENON or Marantz, or even some of the new Onkyos seem pretty good. Of course you also have your boutique brands like Anthem, Emotiva if you want seperate amps and processor, and stuff like that. These speakers are just what we use, but there are so many out there and there are so many variables that it's not possible for us to list them all here!
      We can also highly recommend something like the Sony X900H 85" TV (which we have) or the new updated XR series Sony X90J if you don't want to spend OLED money on a really good looking LCD TV.
      Hope this helps & we appreciate the comment!

All you'll find here is the crap Walmart carries inhouse and that not much more than a couple of cheap sets of computer speakers.

    I'm not sure why but no one seems to address 4 ohm vs 8 ohm speakers, are there any pros and cons to each one? Do they sound the same? Why are car audio speakers always 4 ohms?

    • @TwoGuyzTech
      @TwoGuyzTech  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! The biggest difference you'll get between a 4 ohm speaker and an 8 ohm speaker is power. Using Ohm's law, we know that impedance will tell us how much current will flow through a conductor at a certain voltage - so in theory, having half the impedance at the SAME voltage will allow twice the amount of current flow. Basically this means a speaker with half the impedance will be able to use twice the power of the amplifier (and this is why amps usually have wattage ratings for 8 ohms, 4 ohms, and so on). Whether or not this makes a difference in sound quality is highly debated among speaker designers and audiophiles!
      And typically, car audio speakers are always 4 ohms for this same reason. All of the electronics in your car will usually run at 12 volts DC (higher current for equivalent wattage), rather than 120 volts AC (lower current for equivalent wattage). At half the impedance you get 'twice the wattage' so that's why the speakers are always 4 ohms. Hope this helps to clear things up!

    • @TwoGuyzTech
      @TwoGuyzTech  Před 3 lety

      Yep, the thunder and echo was me!! 😉
      With impedance it definitely depends. There's a big long debate to be had with sound quality on 4 vs 8 ohm, but basically you end up being able to get more power out of the amplifier. Ohm's law says that you can use impedance to figure out current at a given voltage - so if you have half the impedance at the same voltage, you get TWICE the current - and this is why amps have different wattage ratings for different impedance levels.
      SVS is awesome!! We completely agree. Great products at a great price. Looking forward to seeing your upgrades man!!
