  • Just a quick 8 month update re: my Jpouch, although not much has changed.
Also a reference to a friend's website about HIS experience with UC and a colectomy in the '70s. Here is his you tube link... • Ulcerative Colitis in ...
And finally, I'm planning on making a sort of "tribute" video for those of us dealing with and going through this CRAZY process but the video would also (hopefully) be a source of information for others, so I ask those of you I've communicated with in the past for a favor! :)

Thank you for sharing. I am a WOC student. This really helped me to understand the emotional journey of people living through the issues you speak about. You can't learn everything from a text book. What you are doing is very courageous.

VERY glad it was helpful! It's always good to remember the human aspect of medical care! :)

Hey Greg! So nice to hear from someone with so many years of experience w/ the Jpouch and that you're doing well! I'd like to chat further w/ you and ask you some more questions if possible? Could you send me your email? ucandpsc@gmail.com

Thanks for the update. Are the night time issues expected to ever go away?
I love the idea of a tribute video. I will be sending you something when I have a chance.
    Happy Holidays!

I hope so! I don't think the getting up to go to the bathroom will go away, but it might. But my nurse STILL seems to think that the loss of stool will end so I'm hangin on that hope! :) I'm definitely going to "grill" her a little more when I see
      her in February though!

Hey, im trying to decide if i should stick with my illeostomy or move forward with my jpouch surgeries. What has your experience been like and would you recommend moving forward with the jpouch. Im worried about the night time accidents, sexual disfunction and more surgeries. Thanks!

Hey Shane! Would definitely be up for sharing my experience with the Jpouch as I too, was worried about things being worse w/ the Jpouch as opposed to the the ostomy. Hit me up at my email (ucandpsc@gmail.com) and we can chat more or it would probably be even easier to chat via phone to answer your questions but don't want to post my phone number here...LOL!

I am 6 months post op....I have a lot of gas issues...how do i deal with it?

Hey Pranav, I was taking Imodium PLUS which had an anti-gas agent in it or I just took Gas-X type stuff which seemed to help occassionally. I also tried to find out if there were certain foods that caused more gas than others. That being said, once I finally had a scope of my pouch in Feb. of 2014, I found out that I had a very mild case of pouchitis but didn't realize it. Once I started the antibiotics, ALL my gas issues went away!
