***** Actually, the Rottweiler has a harder pounds per square inch than a pit bull because of its size. They have youtube videos about it, check them out. Pound for pound pits are the best athletes but they don't lock their jaws like some think, they are just tenacious as hell.

Its no longer a mix of other breeds because its been selectively bred for generations for certain traits.....its basically creating a new race. For example take a few blacks and a few whites, have them mate, select from all the kids for certain traits, breed them, and then it gets weird and only applicable to dogs and some other animals....you cross back to the parents to reinforce certain traits....this process happens so many times that you literally create something new.

my dad got me a pitbull when I was 7 (now I'm 21) because I wanted a dog that could be my 'security guard', and they are as strong and as overprotective as they get! one day, when my dog met my cousin for the first time, my cousin patted me hard on the back as a joke and my dog straight up jumped, bit his hair and pulled him out of the front door to the yard and barked for him to leave, lol. It was the funniest thing I've seen from my dog, and he's passed away last year due to old age. I now have a rottweiler and a german shepherd to live the legacy of my previous dog.

it actually is its own breed with its own registration and its own bloodline has been for a while now.
like i said go do a little research on the breed they have completely different bloodlines for example gotti line and razors edge are common bully lines while colby and jeep are common american pitbull terrier bloodline. american pitbull terrier are bred for game sport and working while the american bully is bred for looks and show.

This is why the American Pitbull is the toughest and greatest breed for combat and taking on large animals. They were bred for it. They were bred to take on bulls on farms and to battle them in bull baiting matches. They are easily one of the strongest breeds and definitely the greatest and toughest that don't just rely on strength.

Half the dogs shown as "American Pit Bull Terrier" are definitely not Pits, for example, the one in the thumbnail is clearly an Extreme American Bully (mix of AmStaff, APBT, and Staffie Bull). A true American Pit Bull Terrier is very lean and very muscular with a much smaller and less square head.

my American pit bull terrier/lab mix punked the Shit out of a Rottweiler.. there was a couple of Rottweiler in the yard we used to walk by on our walk and one of them got overthe fence and charged us... now I've done weightpulling, speed and strength competitions with my lab/pit so she is very strong and fast... I was actually gearing up to kick the rot when it got close enough and didn't seem friendly but before I could do that my girl charged got ahold of the rotts neck and did that typical aggressive pitbull shake.. this all happened in like 6 seconds. the Rottweiler ran back home, Lol..

Well you obviously don't know your stuff. Just like someone that knows nothing of these sports, you jump to the assumption that all, or even most, of the dogs are given steroids (which is not true at all) and that is why they are so great and popular for these kinds of sports. People like you seem to never take into account that if it actually was steroids that made the American Pitbull so great, then we'd see other breeds being used more often and that other breeds would able to do what American Pitbulls do. However, we don't see that at all. Just like it doesn't seem like you have seen a dogo pulling as much weight as American Pitbulls can. That's because people know you can give a dog all the steroids it can take. It still won't make them great. And even if it did, what's the point? It would be the steroids that gave them the greatness. These sports like weight pulling and combat are things used for breeding of standard, quality dogs, specifically the American Pitbull. You think they are breeding dogs that need steroids to make them great? No. That would be like breeding dogs that need a trampoline just to jump and then use them for agility sports with the trampoline.

think again. That is an American Bully. It is an entirely different breed. Too many people look at dogs like this and think it is an American Pitbull that has either been bred to look like that or was given steroids.

READ CAREFULLY : Post a million 'strongest dog' lists, and the REAL LIFE conclusion would be the same : The Turkish/Kurdish Kangal is the strongest dog on earth. I've seen many breeds and NONE other than the Kangal that could tear through a pack of wolves like a shredder. It is an awe inspiring beast with no equal.

surprised I didn't see English mastiff on there, saw other mastiff breeds. we had a male that weighed 272 pounds, and was a monster. strongest dog I've ever seen of any breed. stood 7 feet 4 inches on his two back legs.
