This sketch really is an understated masterpiece of observational comedy. Nothing says classic teenager quite like being completely unable to handle being caught in a lie.
Let's get some praise for Kathy Burke, she's an outstanding actress but has this natural aptitude for comedy. Without her this wouldn't be half as funny.
He isn't really polite. He just repeats, over and over, the expressions he's been told are polite, like a clueless parrot. (He's a teenager: they couldn't care less about politeness...)
I think we all have now we are having to experience the other side of the coin as our kids grow up and start acting like we did.the thing I find hardest to understand is how one of my parents didn't ring my stupid lying bloody neck before I got to eighteen
I remember when I was a kid . I wouldn't have dared to talk to my parents like that. And I had a mate that spoke exactly like Kevin and I was shocked. It's great my mate turned into a beautiful human being. And me not so much , I fucked up a lot. It's funny how life works 🙏❤️
A modern remake that isn't as offensive towards my age group with characters on the side that aren't glued to their screens just watch them evey hour or so to talk or in this case click a link and find joy.
That reminded me of the Billy Connolly line ...... When his Dad says: "You'll be laughing on the other side of your face! .....What was he thinking? Cutting me a new mouth?!!"
Sorry to hear that. And thank goodness physically abusing children is outlawed. Cue the comments about kids today and how it 'never did me any harm'....'I needed it, I was an unruly kid', etc.
I love how Perry uses all of his manners at once
Please Thankyou Yes Mrs Patterson.
"How could I possibly tell you the truth? You're my parents!" That line sums up teenage life perfectly.
yep. adolescents need space to grow
This sketch really is an understated masterpiece of observational comedy. Nothing says classic teenager quite like being completely unable to handle being caught in a lie.
it also was a talking point and ice breaker between parents and teenagers.
I like She Hulk ,There I said it.
I had SO many conversations like this with my parents as a teenager. Oh the lies. The lies. THE LIES 🤣
The parents lied or you lied?
@Eleanor Hogan he lied, of course.
"WE DID STAY AT PETE'S!"
His hopeless lying is classic.
*WELL HIS DAD'S A BLADDY LIAR THEN!!!!!*
Kevin we spoke to hes daaad
I like the way Perry just goes to the fridge and helps himself.
So you miss the part where Perry flirts with Mrs Patterson lol
@@lpmorgan90 he's always flirting with her. Lol.
Haha My friend and I used to go straight to each others fridges, we were like family so my parents and hers didn't find it odd.
Can I have a jam sandwich please Mrs Patterson, thank you please......
Me too. I like the way Perry just helps himself to the juice.
“Yes please mr Patterson thankyou”
Sortafing...
The pauses between Kevin’s answers where he’s trying to think of a lie are hilarious 😂😂
i love Kevin the teenager! He is just the most accurate representation of a teenager!!!!!! I love it!!
Ochako Uraraka that's where you're wrong kiddo
I hope this is a joke...
*realizes that this is a joke*
Ha yeah i know right
lies tbh
Some of them don’t change neither into adulthood and they can never hold down a relationship
because no one can stick them.
It's obviously because Harry Enfield is one of the funniest men ever
"WE DID STAY AT PETES!"
Health & Fitness ’Kevin I spoke to his dad.’
@@leonbanks5728 well his dad's a bloody liar then... We stayed at Pete's till 11.
@keegan forde ’Oh you stayed until 11, did you? And then where did you go?’
@Thomas Treloar well I thought you'd be exactly the person to know!
@keegan forde ’Oh for God sake.’
RIP Stephen Moore. Fantastic actor❤️
Didn't realise and only just.
RIP
@@richt3993 Yeah he died
That's really sad, great actor.
"WELL HIS DAD'S A BLOODY LIAR THEN!" 😂😂
Let's get some praise for Kathy Burke, she's an outstanding actress but has this natural aptitude for comedy. Without her this wouldn't be half as funny.
It’s not funny, and she’s especially shit
jakeheke what are your favourite comedy shows?
UK actors are the best in the world
Jayc Speedier only fools and horses, some mothers do av em, Peep show, curb your enthusiasm and the uk office
Thunda1986 yes actors. “ACTORS”.
Kathy Burke's performance is her impression of what she imagined actor Perry Fenwick (Billy Mitchell in Eastenders) was like as a teenager
I'm 27 and I'm still like this with my parents
Get a shrink - quickly!
I was 14 when this was first aired on TV and my parents started calling me Kevin. True story.
Been there, my friend. They thought they were so bloody clever and funny
Yo… I was 12… they banked it!
Every British teenager around this time probably got called Kevin at some point.
That's parents down to a T lol.
I forgot Dave wasn't Pete 😂😂
Perry's always so polite, I love it 😊
Only to them two. Hes rude to his own parents...
@@fishyc150
Because he's an arse kissing little shit around Kevin's parents better he's as obnoxious as Kevin around his own
He's got a mum-crush on Kevin's mum.
He isn't really polite. He just repeats, over and over, the expressions he's been told are polite, like a clueless parrot. (He's a teenager: they couldn't care less about politeness...)
He plays the dad perfectly
Kathy Burke is wonderful. Wish we saw more of her. Her Magda in AbFab was spectacular.
Kevin the Teenager is a right grumpy sod because I know I was exactly like him when I was a teenager
90s kid
Dominic Harkin we all are we will get snobs saying that they wasn’t
Dominic Harkin like what a BITCH
I'm...sorry?
@@barnabyaprobert5159 you were gay as a teen
These scenes Always remind me of the film Kevin and Perry Go Large. Hilarious that was for a teenager to watch.
Hahahah... The cheeky wink from Perry to Kevin's mum when he tells her that he did get into the nightclub....🤣🤣🤣 Classic!
Kathy Burke and Harry Enfield are comedy gold when theyre together. I really wish they would do a new comedy series.
The way Perry flinches when Kevin shouts “ALL RIGHT!!! WE WENT 2 TRAAAAAAAAAAACKSSSSSSS!!!!!” is priceless 😂
I was a teenager when this came out epic level of teenager 90s era glad I’m from the 90s teenager 😁👍
So entirely accurate. This was 13 yo me in the 90s
The dad acted as harmony’s dad in the queens nose film series!
The direction Of life yep. I was about 13 when that came out and I had a massive rush on the older sister
I just re watched and now I have a crush on the mum!! How times change
And he was the suicide guy in Thin Blue Line 😂
I had a weird episode where i just went to a friend and went directly for his fridge. He still likes to remind me of this today...
I've actually been through this so many times when I was a teen 😂😂
I think we all have now we are having to experience the other side of the coin as our kids grow up and start acting like we did.the thing I find hardest to understand is how one of my parents didn't ring my stupid lying bloody neck before I got to eighteen
2:58 "Dave's not here" love the cheech and chong reference
Kevin is exactly like my 16 year old son
I am sorry you have to go through that
He will grow out of it , Trust Me 🤣
and ours lol
cant even speak to him nowadays
Kevin is every teenager in the world i know ive got 2 of the bastards love them to bits but could happily strangle them
That is so unfair why do you hate me
Does anyone else notice how fashionable there clothes are today ? 😂
Rip Kevin's dad
0:50 the pause while he thinks of an answer is what does it for me
RIP Stephen Moore.
Over 3 decades later and its still funny. I think the 90s is when comedy grew up.
and the shot in the head in the early 2000s.
You know what that's the perfect description of 90s comedy..
Every parent of a lad has experienced these occasions. Happy dayz. My lad is now a grown up maths teacher. LOL.
Hah he's a perfect stereotype of some of my classmates!
@ 1:32 he nearly breaks into laughter haha
"I forgot Dave wasnt Pete!"
This is basically the Boris Johnson partygate enquiry defence.
WE DID STAY AT PETE’S!!!
Edit: One of my favourite TV shows
1:38 "WE DID SAY AT PETE'S!" XD
WELL HIS DAD'S A BLOODY LIAR THEN!
WE STAYED AT PETE’S TILL 11!!

“*I DIDN’T SAY I STAYED AT PERRY’S, I SAID I WENT TO PERRY’S*” he has a point tho
That wink from Perry when he tells Mrs. Patterson he got into the nightclub.
3:23 I think we all had that reaction at some point in our lives 😂
“I forgot Dave wasn’t Pete”. Happened many times.
Louisa Rix is the daughter of Elspet Gray who was the Queen in the first series of Blackadder. Almost identical.
Holy shit really?! I always thought they were alike (even thought they were the same person at one point), but never realised they were related!
@@clareruth3588 So Brian Rix was her father, I just checked.
I was just like that as a teenager 🤣
The days before we had mobiles and our parents had no idea where we were!
They should make a remake of Kevin. It’s so good and realistic every character adds to the realism.
A modern remake that isn't as offensive towards my age group with characters on the side that aren't glued to their screens just watch them evey hour or so to talk or in this case click a link and find joy.
My favourite Kevin the teenager sketch.
dont deny it. someones mum showed this to there teenage son and said " i wonder who this reminds me of " ....
My mum has used this on me for years
It was my dad who showed me this
Me
Brilliant
Which idiot didn’t like this ?
My son ?
Tif Qureshi you raised your son as an idiot because you’re an idiot
This is shite
Dont call your son an ideot
My mum would let my friends raid our fridge as long as they made her a cup of tea first lol
Omg I love this!!!
I died laughing when Kevin’s dad said tea time 😂 like what Mole’s clock in Wind In The Willows says 😂
"How can you tell when your teenage kid is lying to you? Their lips are moving." - Judge Judy
..... *WE DID STAY AT PETE'S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
If I’d have talked to my father like that it would have been a rather quick attitude adjustment through the means of force
And rightly so!
I knew not to in the first place
That reminded me of the Billy Connolly line ...... When his Dad says:
"You'll be laughing on the other side of your face! .....What was he thinking? Cutting me a new mouth?!!"
Sorry to hear that. And thank goodness physically abusing children is outlawed. Cue the comments about kids today and how it 'never did me any harm'....'I needed it, I was an unruly kid', etc.
And me.
As the father of two (now grown up, thank god) boys this is all so familiar.
I’m 16 and I relate to him 😂😂😂
Pauia call me her out good
me back in the 90s my poor mm and step dad lol
I forgot Dave wasn't Pete (we all made that mistake) 🤣
Absolute legend
Perry: Yes.. No.. Yes or no..
3.08 watch how Kevin made perry jump out of his skin 😅
I remember seeing an outtake of that bit where Harry shouted the line pretty much right in Kathy's ear and frightened the life out of her.
"That,s so unfair" haha
This comments section is SO UNFAIR!!!
Kevin to perry . You are dead!!! 🤣🤣🤣
They must've had so much fun making this..
Kevin lives on in my 17 year old son
just realised they changed the actor for Kevin's dad
Different dad in " Kevin and Perry go large " no idea why
British humor 🤣🤣
every british parent told us we’re like kevin
Because every teenager is like Kevin
All night of course uchh what's your bloody problem 🤣🤣🤣
I know this is a TV show but wish my parents were like that when I was a teenager.
Yes brilliant performance from Kathy 😜💕
I forgot Dave wasn’t Pete lol.
His mum is a dish, but the fashion police needs to be informed.
"Of course i couldn't tell you the truth! Your my parents!!"
Sounds about right
You are dead the classic phrase from the 90s 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
This totally sums up teenage life. I had a lot of moments like this, mostly with my dad lol.
Me n my mate done the exact same thing back in the day whilst we roughed it all night 😂
Perry winking at Mrs Patterson when he says he got in Tracks
Many adults I know, still act like this in their 40's
Kevin's dad shouts like Captain Hook.
This was my brother as a teenager. 😂
Excellent!! 😂😂😂😂
lol I hate the fact that was a teenager " Aw for gods sake Mam "
Jay Cartwright must’ve been inspiration from Kevin in The Inbetweeners 😂
Best comedy ever!🤣
Fantastic
Every parent has had these conversations with their teens.
Perry: I forgot Dave wasnt Pete hahaha
Thanks for the video 😊
I would say I was like this as a teenager, but I was well behaved haha.
hahaha when I look back this is exactly what I was like, no wonder my mum called me Kevin
