Great tutorial, Thank you!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Many thanks for watching.
Good job on the video ! Thanks
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Many thanks for watching.
Love doing this on my M2 zoom, on my newer drones i fly backwards and zoom in manualy, or the other way and fly forwards and zoom out. Can be hit and miss so using waypoints makes sense. Great video Shaun.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully helpful. Many thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video , nice !
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. Many thanks for watching.
@@shaunthedrone your welcome

Very nice tutorial!
Thank you Christine, glad you enjoyed the video. Many thanks for watching.
Super cool trick!
Glad you like it, thanks for watching.
Heck yea, man! This is one of the coolest effects I’ve seen. I don’t understand the logic behind how it works but it’s really neat. I could never get it right doing it manually because I’m pretty uncoordinated with the precision flying stuff but these waypoints have totally changed the results for me man. Awesome video
Thank you, glad you found the video helpful. Many thanks for watching.
When you zoom in, you get a narrower field of view (you see less in the frame), but if you're traveling physically away from the subject as you zoom in, the subject stays the same, while the frame itself around it changes. So you have like a 100 degree view, and as you fly away and zoom in, you're further, so the subject stays the same, but the view is now like 15 degrees (arbitrary numbers used to illustrate the point).
Brilliant, thanks! Subbed
Thank you, glad you found it helpful and thanks for subscribing.
Good job sir thank you 😊
Thank you, glad you like it. Many thanks for watching.
Very cool - likely to use this as it’s a nice plus on any video - all the best
Thank you Andy and good luck with it. Many thanks for watching.
cool
Many thanks for watching.
Great sir i really appreciate. Your explanations are really easy compared to another explanation i saw in an other channel. Now i'm abble to realise this vertigo effect very easy. Thank you so much an keep giving us good tutos. I follow you and i really enjoy your job
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful. Many thanks for watching and your support.
Love it.. I like to do it manually.. I love the challenge lol.. but mate this is AMAZING. WELL DONE SIR...
MIKEY
Thank you Mikey, glad you enjoyed the video and many thanks for watching.
Thanks for tutorial ! )) i am waiting for windless weather for testing it )))
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and hope you get better weather soon. Many thanks for watching.
Just got the Mavic 3 pro! Gonna experiment on this..👍
Nice drone, give it a go. Many thanks for watching.
Brilliant - thanks for that Shaun - can't wait to get out and try that!
"Forgot to press record"????!!!! Can't say that's ever happened to me! 😬🤭
(OK, but only about every blimmin time I go out 🤣🤣😂😂)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and let me know how you get on. Many thanks for watching.
Well done Sir! subd to see more
Thank you Dennis, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for subscribing.
Esta muy bien usar los WP para esto, pero que lo mejor es hacerlo manualmente...
Muchas gracias por la información y gracias por mirar.
Sean Connery makes drone videos now? Cool
Sure does, many thanks for watching.
@@shaunthedrone its def a compliment btw I think Sean Connery kicks azz! 👍🏻
God job la jeune vraiment bon
Many thanks for your comment.
Nice!! I’m currently working out how to do this on the mini 3 pro without waypoints. Subscribed 😊
Glad it was helpful and good luck. Many thanks for subscribing.
Udało Ci się? Mini 3 pro ma tylko 2x zoom.Efekt może być gorszy?.
@@vintgant9295 Tak, 2-krotny zoom w zupełności wystarczy, aby uzyskać taki efekt, spróbuj.
Nice, I can't believe I didn't think about it, I was doing it manual haha
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. Many thanks for watching.
Thanks Shaun, very interesting.
I've now purchased Maven for Apple. I will try it with this on my Mini2. Trying to avoid another bit of gear to cart around the world.
For sure way points is much better than trying to get a smooth video manually.
Thank you Duncan, you will love the Maven app and have fun with the vertigo effect. Many thanks for watching.
@@shaunthedrone I managed go do the effect. Very pleased with it. Used manualmatic with the Mini 2. Took five attempts to get flight speed and zoom coordinated to get the right effect.
@@duncangatland6021 well done
It’s a bit trippy 😂. M4P great drone. Had mine a few weeks now. Like it a lot.
Glad you're liking your new drone Jackie - many thanks for watching.
Great effect, it's super cool. Will I be able to do it with a Mavic Air 2?
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video. Any drone with Way Points, it will work. Not got the Mavic Air 2, so not sure it has Way Points. Many thanks for watching.
hello! tired to use waypoints to go around the subject in very specific way but there's no precision at all ... any sugestion?
Glad you're trying it out, to be honest it only works from the front but good to experiment and hopefully you may find a way. Many thanks for watching.
@Shaun the Drone Hey, hoping you can help me, I have tried doing this with the exact settings you have on my Mini 4 Pro.
When moving from WP1 to WP2 though, the zoom does not transition at all from 1x to 4x as it does on your footage. Even when it gets to WP2, it doesn't snap to 4x zoom straight away either. It just remains on 1x. What have I missed?
Hi, many thanks for your question, looks like you followed the instructions, when doing WP2 slide the Zoom to 3X times then ready to go. Like I said, you may have to do it a few times to get the correct results or maybe cancel Waypoints and do it all again. It will happen its just getting it all correct at the time depending on what your using as the object - height, speed and distance, wish you luck.
Is waypoint available in mini 3 pro?
Not at the moment, still in beta mode at moment, hopefully not too long to wait. Many thanks for watching.
Is there a setting I'm missing on my waypoints? The zoom isn't gradually changing like yours.
It wont happen first time, just keep experimenting with the Waypoints when doing the zoom, it will happen.
Does this work with rc n2 remote?
Hi Jay, yes it will work with the RCN2. Many thanks for watching.
Wonder if I can do that with my old Mavic Platinum !
Give it a go - should work - it's got Waypoints.
@@shaunthedrone Thanks, no programmable zooming though on the MP1, maybe with Litchi.
@@Peakabike not sure but worth trying.
I did try this today but it was a big fail. I did try to do this on my parked car inside the garage (start point) and to move the drone backwards on the driveway. Well, I guess I need to try it outside of the garage where it is not too busy and on a day, when it is not too windy.
Well done for trying, it does take a few times to get it looking good. Keep trying and it will look great. Many thanks for watching.
The results I have been experiencing while setting up in this exact same way is that the zoom happens all at once. It just zooms from 1x to 4x all in one move which is pretty much a useless result.
What are your thoughts and how do you go about having the zoom affect happen in a way that is even close to the matching the speed at which the drone is backing up?
Many thanks for your comment and it took me a few times getting the zoom and speed right. Experiment
with the zoom and the speed. On the second waypoint, you set the zoom, so it should work. Let me know how you get on but don't give up.
I have the same issues? 1 - 4
@dravenxvx did you figure it out? I'm having same issue...rc-n2 on a tab s9 fe
@@cobradude2009
I have not figured it out yet. I have got some pieces of the so-called vertigo effect coincidentally in some footage that I have shot while using other flight features along with playing with the zoom on the control wheel but nothing that I have figured out how to control.
I have thought about trying "progressive" waypoints where the zoom is adjusted incrementally at each of the different waypoints as the drone follows the waypoints as it moves away from the foreground object but I have not tried it yet.
I don't think Shaun the Drone guy knows exactly how it works as he just says play with it until you get it to work.
cant u do it without waypoints? its a simple flying backwards while zooming in?
Not really being an old bloke but it can be done with a steady hand. Many thanks for watching.
@@shaunthedrone Oh no, :D please don't get me wrong. I was just asking, cause i don't know if you can zoom in/out with the controller manually while flying. i was just trying to ask about it :D .. i am on the edge of buying mini 4 pro, thats why :)
@@441greenleaf It's a great drone the Mini 4 Pro, I tried the same with my Air 3 and got the same results. If you got the money, buy it
I usually forget to tell it to record 😅 but eventually I get it right.
🐈⬛🐾👍🍻
Thank you Chris, same here! Many thanks for watching.
It's digital zoom though, so you can achieve that in post as well. Plus add a bit of resolution with AI :)
Many thanks for your comment and thanks for watching.
That’s easier to do with drone i guess
@@deveshtawre5459 Yeah, you'd still film the move with the drone... But it's very easy to just "zoom in" in post and get that effect. And you can use more powerful algorithms to zoom in than what the drone can do, so you get better quality. It's totally valid to do it this way too, I'm just saying...
@@lukastembergersome people really enjoy flying the drone / setting up the shot, not sitting at the pc editing
It's just fun with the drone. Nice vid!
make me dizzy. i should learn this for my drone
Thank you, glad you found the video helpful. Many thanks for watching.
They should have a vertigo mode!
Maybe on their next new drone - many thanks for watching.
Why don't you do it faster before to upload, then? :)
It's all about experimenting - many thanks for watching.
🇧🇷🇧🇷
Thank you.
The only thing I don't like is that it's digital zoom, so at the end it's essentially 480p stretched out. Meh.
It's all about experimenting with this effect. Many thanks for watching.
Then you will need a Mavic 4 Pro or Air 3
@@ericcote8146 Optical zoom would be nice
That’s why it’s better to just do it in post.
It's all about dolly zoom in manual bro😅😅😅😅😅
Many thanks for your comment.
This is the way.
Use the scroll wheel does exactly the same😂
Many thanks for your info and watching.
