  • Is too little sun exposure harmful? Should we try to avoid sun and apply sunblocks all the time?

    Well, ive took a look at a list with countrys with the biggest rate in prostate cancer and Norway where the poeple doenst really have a lot of sun, have the biggest rate, while in the south of Europe the rate is significantlly lower. I´d call this fact a link :-)

    Getting sun exposure while grounding or earthing is great combination!

    one aspect of this is that sun exposure helps convert sulfur in the skin to sulphate which is more easily utilized by the body to form collagen (important in slowing cancer) and other functions detrimental to cancer and important for general good health. Consistent sun exposure seems to be healthy overall, in addition to the vitamin D production.

    Very interesting . It would seem like the researchers, after having found this link, would naturally be interested to find if sun exposure had the same effect on other cancers.
    In any case I'm going to make it a point to get a little more sun. Thanks for posting this.

      Lack of sun exposure is linked to risks of other cancers, too, such as breast cancer and colon cancer.

      Sun exposure produces vitamin D, but does not activate vitamin D. My video of the key to increase vitamin D level explains why people can have adequate sun exposure but low vitamin D levels.

  • @glenthegoalsguy

    Clearly vitamin D is a factor, recognising that the process of manufacturing D, melatonin etc from sunlight might be more sophisticated than supplementation alone.

    I was raised near Detroit, Michigan and my father contracted prostate cancer, and I contracted prostate cancer. I had it surgically removed 23 years ago and have had no problems since, however, in my research I found that the Detroit area has the THIRD HIGHEST rate of prostate cancer IN THE WORLD! What do you think is the cause of this?

      Thank you for your comment.
      In addition to lack of sun exposure, there are other risk factors for prostate cancer, such as age, family history, race, dietary pattern, and physical fitness levels, and even possibly height. I don't know the exact background for the high incidence of prostate cancer in Detroit.

      Race. Black men have much higher risk... because their skin tone does not allow adequate uptake of Vit D.

      We need more research on the benefits of sun exposure and the harms of avoiding sun. As people are doing a good job staying away from the sun and putting on sunblocks, we should also see the other side of the story. Lack of sun exposure is linked to several cancers. When evidence does not clearly support that vitamin D can supplement for sun exposure, we need to consider proper amount of sun exposure.

      @ford289cid7 Před rokem +1

      @Jamie McNeil: What is the info actually good for? Well if you have made a life change where you realize you are rarely out in the sun for any time, it's a good idea to re-arrange your schedule. Don't bake yourself into skin cancer, but don't always be indoors either.

      @@nvan78 Thank you for your comment. Lack of sun exposure is one of the risk factors for prostate cancer. Though the mechanism is linked to the adequacy of vitamin D, vitamin D supplementation was not successful in preventing prostate cancer. Our sun exposure mainly decides our total vitamin D level. The activation of vitamin D is dependent upon certain dietary qualities. If you are interested, please check out my video about the key to increase vitamin D levels.

    Very nicely presented and interesting video. I don't necessarily agree with the result. Correlation is not causation. This kind of study retroactively looks at population with prostate cancer diagnosis but can't remove confounding factors. If dietary intake of vitamin D can't lead to reduced risk of prostate cancer, then latitudes of the patient location may just a coincidence.

    • @Dr.WenliLiu
      @Dr.WenliLiu  Před rokem +1

      The link between sun exposure and cancer risks ( not just prostate cancer) is very significant. The benefit of sun exposure may not be limited to vitamin D, even chemically. Hope there will be RCTs to study the effect of sun exposure on cancer treatment response, recurrence, and survival.

    • @Dr.WenliLiu

      Not necessarily. You probably want to consult your physician regarding your individual skin cancer risk and decide on the appropriate amount of sun exposure.

      @JimLambrick Před 8 měsíci

      Humans, and all animals and plants, are genetically evolved to live in sunlight. Skin cancer can be prevented by wearing the appropriate clothes and hats if your skin tine is at risk. Black people living in northern climates have a higher risk of prostate cancer because they can't absorb enough sunlight.

      @@Dr.WenliLiu This is absurd. No doctor can assess an individual's personal risk of sun exposure that can lead to skin cancer. I have never said this about a doctor on CZcams but you would do the community a favor if you stopped contributing on CZcams.

    You are confusing correlation with causation. Just because there appears to be correlation does not mean causation. Later in your video you mentioned exercise and diet. These could contribute to causation. The sun exposure could have nothing to do with it.
